- One after the other, the OCN team spots seals entangled in various fishing gear items and general ocean rubbish. All these entanglements could've ended all these seals' lives, no matter how thin, light or small. Cleaning our beaches doesn’t remove the trash from the ocean. Therefore, we must find better ways to remove it and start by preventing more rubbish from being added to the mass.

The goal of these videos is to show the consequences of this pollution and create a change to tackle its roots - namely our addiction to single-use plastics, the lack of law enforcement at sea, and the shortcomings of the recycling industry.

@@lynetteclauser3551 I had the same thought. What if too much time has passed and her milk dried up. The sad fact is, not all they rescue will be saved. They desperately need people to donate to get some sort of rehab going, for the ones who need treatment and get strength back.

Why do human beings think that the oceans are the waste paperbasket for all the garbage they produce!? They really do not know what pain they cause to the amimals living in the sea. Dear guys thank you so much for rescuing these poor and helpless seals and the other animals living in the ocean. May God bless you and your families. The problem is a bit more complicated: what we throw away does not magically disappear. On the 6 billion tonnes of plastic waste generated since the 1950s, only 9% has been recycled and 12% incinerated. The remaining 79% has been dumped in the wild, much of it ending up in the oceans, torturing and killing millions of marine animals every year.
We are unfortunately only treating the symptoms of the plastic crisis with our rescues. The goal of these videos is to show the consequences of this pollution and create a change to tackle its roots - namely our addiction to single-use plastics, the lack of law enforcement at sea and the shortcomings of the recycling industry.

I’m always amazed at the different things these seals find themselves entangled in. The only thing that makes my heart hurt a little less is seeing your rescues. I can only hope the fishing industry cleans up their own messes ie. coveralls, gillnet, cling wrap etc. etc. Your statistics at the end are what keeps the pain in my heart from going completely away.
