    Great... now I’ve added ANOTHER possible choice to my aircraft hunt! Not sure why I’d overlooked the Cardinals other than comparative availability and that I’ve never logged any time in one before.
    Thanks for an excellent video!

      @@aerolife1646 210 wing, stabilator like the 185 or Pipers. Not many Cessna's have those and if you know how to fly them they are great. Also notice the amount of flush rivets and lack of corrugated control surfaces - not even Bonanzas cared enough to do that. This airplane responds great to added power, like turbo normalizing or IO-390 transplants and 3 blade M-T props. many owners have had these engines last 3000 hours TBO.

    Love our 1970 Cardinal 177B. A great cruiser, looks pretty and for an old dude like me, I can get in and out easily with those massive doors. Also prefer the FG as there's just less to go wrong. Now... if only it had the useful load of a 182. ;) then it would be the perfect machine.

      177 is a great and well-balanced airplane, Cessna would have achieved better performance if they install 200HP I0-360 or better like they did in 177RG's.

    has the wing spar carry thru inspection been done?

    • @aerolife1646
      @aerolife1646  4 роки тому

      During the annual, our IA took apart outer top inspection panels and inspected it. I believe as part 91 manufacturers service bulletin is not a requirement since it is not an AD, although it is a good idea to do so.

    Your videos would be more enjoyable to watch if you would get a stabilized lens/camera. It was hard to focus on inside instrumentation with the camera shaking so much. Also, don't pan to quickly back and forth. Other than that criticism, great plane for sale information video.

    I like the looks of these. 46 years old and still training in a 172. Would these make for a good trainer?

    • @aerolife1646
      @aerolife1646  3 роки тому

      They are great trainers. You can start training in 177 but best practice is start with 172 for some hours and move to 177 so by that time you have enough knowledge flying a plane so you can more easily adapt to constant speed prop.

    46 yr old cantilevered wing a concern???

    • @aerolife1646
      @aerolife1646  3 роки тому

      There are a large number of planes with the cantilevered wing design including low wing aircraft. I do not see a reason to be concerned unless there is an AD that is applicable but not performed on the plane.

    46 yr old cantilevered wing a concern??

    • @aerolife1646
      @aerolife1646  3 роки тому

      Most airplanes are cantilevered, even low wings. Only a few models are supported by struts. I do not see any reason for concern.

      172 is a great plane, no doubt about that. I was just referencing the main specifications differences. 177 can fly faster, has a higher payload, higher ceiling, more space, longer range, constant speed prop etc..

      WhiteKnuckes6.2....under powered, still not a true 4 place airplane, although it is a prettier airplane than a 172 but not by much. If one wants a Cardinal, just go ahead and get the 182 and be done with it. Now there's an airplane I can get excited about.
