Why use one? Get that area professionally etched. Trash that hoppes junk. Use Wilson Combat lubricants and watch their Gun Guys episode on maintaining your 1911.
Personally it wasn’t worth getting done professionally. For a few bucks though the checkered front strap has done exactly what I wanted and stayed in place 700 rounds later. I’ll take a look at the lubricants you mentioned.

I like the grips, I’ve put them on a couple of my 1911’s. My only complaint is that I wish they would wrap around the sides a little longer.

Yeah that’s why I put the double sided tape on the inside in between the two. So far so good it hasn’t been scratched up yet.

Looks junky . Pachmayer wrap arounds would have looked and felt better .
