You can really sense Phoenix plays off of the energy of his interviewer. When he senses a genuine person, he opens up with genuine answers.

Im pretty sure that at that time in his life his family were essentially homeless. He was raised in a cult till his parents got out. Thats what I heard in an interview once. Tragic really.

You're one of the nicest interviewers I've ever seen. You speak very softly and politely. Your responses and follow-up questions show you actually listen to the answers of the person being interviewed, and respect their opinions. I also love the background, not just yet another dark room.
It's good to see he looks great and very healthy now. The role must have taken a toll on his overall well being.
He doesn't like to talk about it, but he lost a LOT of weight for the role

Nope. He's an actor and the weight loss was controlled and supervised. Being a vegan as it is was the only thing that may have been more complicated to navigate through (I'm a vegan too, that's definitely not criticism), but the emotional risk was much bigger in that film I think. But he's played some very dark roles and like he said, you don't fight it. You take it home with you and let it take over you and then the storm passes. He has his girlfriend which seems to do wonders for him so, I wouldn't be that worried.

He probably ate like 20 lbs of food the day they finished filming
