    I love how Todd Phillips gives the majority of credits to Joaquin for his breathtaking performances and even credits the stuntman and other workers on set by names. It really gives a much more humble and sincere vibe to his presentation.

    • @carol9909
      @carol9909 5 років тому +620

      Right? It seems to me that when directors talk about the behind the scenes, and how they put the movie together, they most of the time only talk about the special effects and all. It’s refreshing to hear a director not only talk about the special effects, but also the reason behind the scene, what the character is supposed to be feeling in the moment, and even giving props to the stunt double. I commented this on his last Instagram post. I hope he sees it so he can continue to do projects like this.

When you're forced to sprint, are your movements controlled? Desperate? Smooth? Graceful? Fierce? Ikr, I very much appreciated the angles of some scenes, the slow close ups and fade outs that played so well into depicting exactly the emotions that the scenes wished to portray. In every shot I was stirred just the right amount of unsettled, intrigued, amused, and awed..
      Overall, just brilliant.

And I agree with him there. It's been a long time since a movie like that has been released. Ruminating15 I see what you mean, but personally I felt like it suited him well. It was during moments of when he truly felt himself and “free” despite the maleficent acts he made, he saw no consequence.
      I feel like music in general is what truly connected with him (as discussed by Todd) as a person but due to the torture and abuse he experienced as a child, that music only appears after retaliating his abuse instead of just generic happiness as you and I would experience - an eye for an eye. Therefore, giving a very unsettling and sadistic vibe, thus, The Joker.

    SPOILER: This Joker isn't crazy. When he dicides to spare the life of the little man because he says "you were the only one nice to me", it shows some sort of compassion. Also when he plays with the kid in the bus, or when he does the magic trick to Bruce Wayne, he isn't a bad man. He just wants to be respected now, he just wants people to stop laughing at him. This portrait of the Joker was just amazing. He isn't a comic book character, he is a broken individual.
