Nothing will ever beat random players opening trade on accident because they meant to inspect your gear.
You know one time i insta logged out in embarassment because i did that? Im a weirdo and hate giving people the satisfaction im basically checking them out
It straight up told the person you were inspecting them on Final Fantasy 11. Some people would swap gear if you checked them so it would close the panel. Japanese players would get mad if you inspected them lol.
If that happened to me, and they asked, i would just tell them i was throwing something out and accidently clicked them lol
I was a highschool kid just rocking T1/2 on my dwarf hunter when Naxx was this almost mythological raid that I had no hope of reaching before TBC dropped for us all to roll into Outlands, but that mystique was kinda cool and made the world feel more real, adding to the immersion as in the real world most of us don't do everything, we enjoy rooting for others to compete in sports or combat or success in some field/area of life that we will probably never touch ourselves...
nowadays, my hobbies are lifting and running, and I'll never bench press 784lbs or deadlift 1102lbs or run a 2hr marathon or a 4min mile, etc., but I still enjoy these hobbies making my own progress while admiring the world record progress of elite athletes
I still go back and watch the old Death & Taxes first look videos of Sapp and KT almost 20 years later now.
I fought some death and taxes guys in BGs back in the day. Nothing but legendary weapons and NAXX gear XD
I agree with xar. I don’t mind if there is content beyond my abilities. I think that’s what made wow feel epic. It was an achievement and for most players they always room to grow. I like the idea of very few people having full best in slot.

I played on an EU-server where we had to queue up to do Heigan and Thaddius as once they were pylled the entirely instance server froze for everyone on the server, any instance. We had to server migrate twice during Naxx... If you were unlucky with which server you was on, you were fucked.
EU also opened after as NAs maintance was earlier, every raid. AQ was fun though, as if you died you could just run back to the fight so no guild had trouble with first bosses. In MC you had ressers standing out of combat just dressing dead ppl etc etc. It really was a wild west back then.
And again, there wasnt a public ptr for most raids, some big guilds got invited to closed ptr though so they had an advantage.
He didn't even touch on the lag Curse had to put up with. It was completely unplayable on Stormscale EU at that time. It even forced them to migrate servers when that became available
Death and Taxes really did get screwed in all of this. It's inexcusable what happened to those guys.

Bro... seeing those first pieces of dreadnaught as a warrior was so freaking cool. They were idols!
The thing is, WoW back then was aiming at a model like EQ, where the next expansion wouldnt make the prior expansion 100% useless because of how gear scaling works in the game, somewhere 1-2 patches before going into TBC that whole way of thinkign changed because they wanted to force people to buy the new expansion asap.
Xaryu nailed it. The mystique around these elite raids was so cool, even as a non-raider. The fact that there's multiple levels of difficulty is not the same at all. You can basically do the exact same thing now, just with less mechanics and numbers.
I was surprised at how exclusive naxx still was in classic, felt great working from MC all the way to naxx but required dedication more than skill. Was still cool to see that MoM, ashbringer and atiesh was kinda rare.
It really was. On my server, most guilds were still wiping and breaking in MC. The real final boss in Vanilla was to organize and keep together 40+ players...
@@micbln8967 in vanilla the most players bought the game copie after aq was released. half the palyerbase was under lvl 40 when naxx path hit the server.

What is really cool is that it makes it so that you are not special. Heros are special. People who do more than the normal. Retail is full of "heros" but as a result it changed everyone into a common person.

Id also like to add when Xar is like Bitch please, part of an Officer's job in EQ in 1999-2000 was to call people ON THEIR HOME PHONE to show up cause X or Y boss had just spawned, the Bat-Calls were real back then... No instances on bosses made for a whole different beast of a game.
12:33 thats what happening in retail for years. its called mythic raids. when vanilla naxx was released half of the playerbase was between lvl 1-30. half of the wow copies sold before tbc were sold between aq and naxx.

Luck is just when preparation meets opportunity. So your hard work actually led to being able to capitalize on that opportunity.
That's a good way to put it although sometimes hard work doesn't matter at all. In the rare chance you could just be in the right time at the right place but in the case of this story then just being there does nothing cause you still had to worry your butt off to get to that point.

ya boi transfered with avant garde and spent my glory days hoppin between these classic guilds. ended leaving what we were in and forming TFO. for sure the best and more hxc of my wow life haha. Elementality was our hero /flex.

It actually sucked to have to recruit during Naxx. You had to recruit people from other raiding guilds, because they were the only people who had geared toons - it just wasn't practical to take someone with no gear, no experience and try to gear them up. The time investment to go do MC, BWL, ZG, AQ20, AQ40, and Naxx... most T3 raiding guilds did not do the earlier raids anymore. They were doing 4-5 nights of Naxx.

I remember I use play Runescape but switch to World of Warcraft after I got my account hacked. Now, I am a 19 year old veteran of this game and I became a master of this game because I watch facts and video about all the secrets facts of this game. You got to play WoW everyday :)
I played on Medivh when the gates of AQ first opened and I totally agree about the need for content that is only for the best of the best is something the game is missing. I remember being in Org and inspecting members of Ascent before they left the server and thinking that's what I want to be and for the next couple of Xpacs I was one of those players people were inspecting in capitol cities because my gear was so sick. But with min/max culture and transmog I don't know how much it would really matter today though, so many more people would be able to reach that content and put out tutorials for others to follow and people would transmog away their item design so people wouldn't even know what they were rocking half of the time.
The issue is that that type of content isn’t really possible anymore. The reason those raids were so unreachable was because nobody really knew the mechanics properly, and guilds kept their strats hidden. These days, as soon as a raid is released there are videos all over UA-cam telling you exactly what to do. This makes it much easier for normal people to complete the content.
I agree with you about the raid. It should be hard so only small amount of players make it. Just like sports irl not all gonna be a football player so on. They can dream and practice and keep trying! Get better and maby one day make it
(Not get a diploma for participating) "how it feels now when all can complete the raids" its just not the same feeling.
12:52 - a very bad take. Yes, you can push yourself to the utmost (and spend a considerable time of your life for that) and *still* not get "in there", simply because you have to find another 39 people within the same caliber as you *and* have them take you in *and* match schedules and whatnot *and* hope all goes well *and* get lucky *and perhaps then and only then* you may get to see Naxx or whatever raid. This is incredibly hard to achieve, even Blizzard acknowledged this by saying "take all things in moderation, even WoW". I understand the "unachievable" status is something to push you forwards, but god damnit, at least the story parts, everyone should be allowed to experience them. Everyone should be allowed to see Arthas die or Illidan get captured or Deathwing bite it.
Samx is now known for more than two things; we are farmers, saying, "getting a re" after everyone open, and now getting Xar glad!

Telling our grandkids about stuff like this?.....Ok I am a geek, but never will be that geeky.....I play with my kids (5 boys) now, and would hope that at the end of the day, they wouldn't put my highly skilled gaming (or lack of, if being honest)as a high priority as what they remember about me. Guess I am not the nerd I thought I was....🤣....We all have our legacy we want to leave. Gaming isn't part of mine. For others, to each his own. Just not a priority to me.

To be fair US has had their releases before EU, so US always have a headstart. Thats why EU guilds cant really compare due to the time difference..

they got world cthun first off that bit of luck.. they got the reset nerfed version of cthun before US.. an then was behind US on every bit of naxx behind multiple guilds up until KT, in which case 4 days that DNT couldnt touch KT to prog or attempt gave EU guild 60-80 hours more of prog/uptime against KT lol. What a crazy turn of events. Grats on EUs world luck. I mean first.

imagine in the modern times where jelliously and pride is rampart in society to have such social structures in game. for me to this day its nuts to think that playernumbrs exploded in a game where under 2 percent of playerbase even entered the last phase content and under 1 percent even killed ONE BOSS xD. and we where ALL HYPED about naxx and chearing up the heroes that actually did it, watching theyre pvp and pve videos. IMAGINE this today. playing a game u cant clear everything? lol? giving some peps probs?lol ? xD the most anoying thing about back in the days is that in every pug you ever join in wrath 4-10 people where rank 14 back in the days and had naxxtramas classic clear and playing in wotlk world first guilds TOO. the lying in this game IS REAL.

The luck thing is so true. I’m retired at 34 pretty much because I got lucky and 3 others got unlucky/were stupid. Worked at a store, eventually become assistant manager, manager gets cancer and quits
