In this video, you will see a walk around and my first test drive of the lightning! Wow I’d all I can say!
As for the maintenance of my F150s I believe in good synthetic oil and these catch cans, you can check them out below. As always thanks for watching!
Oil and catch cans!!!! See below!
In my opinion, through testing, here is some of the best synthetic oil for the f150. You need 6 for the 2.7L and 3.5L VERIFY WHAT WEIGHTS TO USE ON YOUR TRUCK, BUT TRADITIONALLY (2015 UP) 5W-30 FOR THESE TWO.
    5 quarts...

For the V8 guys, you will need 7.7 quarts of 5w-20
    5 quarts

The factory oil filter (this is a good filter, no need for a more expensive filter)...

The lightning has 4 hours range at 70 mph! You mostly charge at home overnight on cheap electricity. 4x cheaper than gas.

That's 4 hrs at 70 mph with one person and no payload. Add in luggage and a 5 person family and that 260 mile range drops. Charging at home on 120 volts would take 18 hrs to full charge. Am I to only commute to work every other day?

@tewest86 that’s sorta what I’m thinking… and towing anything will likely cut that in half.

@@tewest86 good thing isn't doesn't cost much to put a 240V plug in like most people have for their electric stove or electric dryer already. Or some already have because they have a welder in their garage. Then a full charge can be done over night

The reality is on Road Trips EVs charge very Slowly above 80% and this makes the highway range much closer to 200 miles without a large load
In Costal South Carolina if you need a trip with charging you need to head west 60 miles to 95 BUT the mall in Myrtle Beach does have supercharger now

Exactly, I see the merits but still stick to my thoughts on us not being ready for complete electric. It’s going to take time (years possibly) to get to a point where it makes sense to be electric. If your goal was to drive around a city and not take long road trips it makes sense only if the infrastructure supports. Regardless electric is a pure joy to drive. Not for me and what I do every though.

If your house has an air conditioner, it’s got power enough to charge the truck.

Solar power is cheap. I have 8000 watts of solar. I bought all of them for $3000. Plus the grid tie electronics, $2000. Deals are everywhere. Look for solar project auctions. I bought mine from a guy that bought a few sea containers full from China and just sold them direct. 50%retail.
If EV owners install solar and tie to the grid they will add capacity to the system during the day. Benefiting everybody and cutting their bills drastically.
All of that said, the free market ALWAYS prevails. For one, the manufacturing capacity of electric cars isn't enough to cause a electric load problem. As time goes on the grid will improve, home owners will become more self reliant(install their own solar, reducing demand), and cars will become even more efficient.
I see no problem except for the growing pains while on a long trip or in the middle of nowhere.
In the end most EV owners will charge at night when demand is at its lowest. Plus adding capacity during the day with their own systems. Hell, we may end up with surpluses that are sold to Mexico. 👍

T thanks for the feedback and what a deal you got on the solar equipment… I love the power of electric. We will evolve and advance this technology. I’m excited to see how far we can go in 2-5 years heck in a year we could see a massive improvement of technology as all the EVs hit the market. Thanks again for taking the time to comment and for watching!

Been a F150 fan for 40 years. Bought them because the average Joe could afford one. Wake up, Ford. The price is insane. At least we can still get an ICE F150. Unless he price is competitive with an ICE, no way I’d buy this rig. And never buy the first year of any new model….

    • @theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424
      @theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424  2 роки тому

Never buy the first year of anything! I am the same way. I looked recently at a 22 xlt and it was 60k. Just a couple years ago that would have gotten you a platinum. But that’s to expect with inflation, our government’s spending, and supply chain issues. I think we will see rebates come back in the future once the demand comes down. Right now they plan to get what they want due to demand. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!

@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 I bought a full load 2019 Lariat FX4 with every option box checked. $57K up here in Canada. Great rebates and dealers ready to negotiate. Now it’s MSRP if u r lucky….greedy dealers will pay a price for gouging when the market normalizes. And with the inevitable recession and decline in house prices, they won’t be able to give away an electric Platinum. I will wait…desperate dealers are just a year or less away. Nah, disagree with you. Been driving ev’s for 10 years. My “cheap “ Lightning Pro is being delivered in two weeks. I’ve estimated a gallon of e gas will be about $0.80/ gallon. Don’t want to drive 500 mikes a day or tow 8000lbs…it’s my new economy car (truck).

@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 the F150 hybrid is a great truck. Charging at home is preferred and his cheap. I’ve driven my ev I just sold last week to the beach and mountains and didn’t have issue fast charging. They aren’t for everyone, but in performance and acceleration, cost per gallon, the noise factor of ice, they simply are better vehicles.
I have a Nissan Titan for towing my 21foot travel trailer that I’m keeping. You’ll enjoy your hybrid a great deal, wish they would have made it a phev with 25-50 miles of ev range. You are one of the lucky ones to have driven a Lightning, can’t wait for mine to get here.

I do consider myself lucky… I had a quick 15 minutes with it. I would love to have a whole day or two with one. Also I’d like to look into this app everyone is talking about for charging stations along routes. I guess it’s a little unfair to judge going complete electric so soon. There’s a lot I don’t know about them. I am open minded enough though and the power is addictive. I am very impressed and technology is only going to get better. I’ve also invested in some lithium stocks too (which have proved to be beneficial).

@@theoverdriveconsumerchanne4424 , as of right now, Ford has said they wouldn’t sell the extended battery to civilians, I’m guessing that will probably change in a year or so maybe. Got the std battery, trailer hitch, extra cooling, the scales, 9.6 KWt charging for msrp $46k + tax -7500 tax credit, I think it’s a heck of a dear. Had to change my dealer from a large one, to a medium and then interview them before switching dealers (crazy times). I reserved the Pro the first 10 minutes of the reveal or I probably wouldn’t have gotten a 2022 model, wanted the XLT with big battery but it was $30k more then the Pro, could see the value in that. My mid size dealer had at the time only 45 reservations, they are only getting one (mine) and a demo for 2023

Thank you for the perspective. I am in no way bashing the technology… this is the future, no doubt about it. My concern though is the grid supporting the additional load and the lack of charging stations today. Now a year from now this may not be a concern as technology advances. I love the power of electric and the thought of not having to fill up with gas is definitely a win. Thank you for the feedback!
