Stanley Tucci is so good at being both a villain and a good guy. He manages to embody what is wrong with America as one person when it takes a lot of actors in the film to show what is right with it.
This is for all of those who always TREAT U AS UNACCEPTABLE N RIP U , DONT LET ANYONE DO THAT FOR U , U DONIT URSELF , NEVER LET ANYONE INSULT U , NEVER LET ANYONE THROW U AWAY , NEVER HEAR UNACCEPTABLE
Tom Hanks character Mr. Mehran Karimi Nasseri is the inspiration for the movie the terminal (2004)- a real-life Iranian refugee who arrived at Paris's Charles de Gaulle Airport in August 26 1988 until July 2006 without a passport and without papers to enter another country. He's been stuck in Terminal One ever since.
5 stars obviously ....after all its a tom hanks movie . Steven Spilbierg and tom hanks always makes a mind blowing combination as we had seen in 'Saving Private Ryan' . Yeah, He is same Tom Hanks who had won our hearts by his FORREST GUMP . The story of the movie is completely awesome
Viktor Navorski, a traveler from the fictional country of Krakozhia, arrives at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, and learns that a coup has taken place in his country. The United States did not recognize Krakozhia's new government, and Viktor was not allowed to enter the United States or return to his country, as his passport was no longer considered valid. As a result, US Customs and Border Protection confiscated her passport and return ticket, pending resolution of the matter. He became a refugee and was forced to live at the airport. Frank Dixon, the airport's Acting Field Commissioner, instructs Viktor to remain in the transit room, until the problem is resolved. Viktor settled in the terminal with only his luggage and a can of beans. Viktor finds the gate being renovated, and makes the room his home. Meanwhile, Dixon is determined to get Viktor out of the airport, and make Viktor a problem for the other party. He tries to get Viktor to leave by luring him out of the airport, by ordering guards to stay away from the exit for 5 minutes, but fails. Dixon then tries to get Viktor to ask for asylum, if he is afraid of returning to his country, so that he can leave the airport, but that also fails because Viktor claims that he is not afraid of his own country. Meanwhile, Viktor befriends and helps several employees at the airport and travelers. Among them is a beautiful flight attendant named Amelia Warren, whom Viktor sees regularly and tries to seduce her. Amelia thought Viktor was a building contractor who traveled a lot. Dixon, who is being considered for promotion, becomes increasingly obsessed with getting rid of Viktor. Meanwhile, Viktor started reading books and magazines to learn English. After he impulsively remodels a wall in the renovation zone, he is hired by an airport contractor and unofficially paid. One day, Dixon calls Amelia and asks her about Viktor and his mysterious can of beans. Amelia, now realizing that Viktor wasn't being completely honest, meets Viktor in the renovation room. Viktor points out to Amelia that the Planters bean tin contains a copy of the "Great Day in Harlem" photo. Viktor's late father was a jazz fan who discovered the famous portrait in a Hungarian newspaper in 1958, and vowed to collect autographs from the 57 musicians featured in it. He died before he could get the last one, from a tenor saxophonist Benny Golson. Viktor deliberately came to New York to fulfill his father's dream. After hearing the story, Amelia kissed Viktor. Viktor realized that he had fallen in love with Amelia. Viktor's friends arrange a special date between Viktor and Amelia, but Amelia leaves Viktor, because she realizes that it is impossible to be with Viktor. After nine months, his friends wake up Viktor, with the news that the war in Krakozhia is over, and he can get a Green Card, which allows him to leave the airport. Meanwhile, Amelia asks a government official (Amelia's illicit boyfriend), to make an emergency visa for Viktor so he can fulfill his dream. But Viktor is disappointed to learn that Amelia has rekindled her affair with the man. Amelia did this because she actually loved Viktor. When Viktor presents an emergency visa at customs, Dixon is forced to sign the visa. But with Viktor's new valid passport, Dixon is determined to quickly send him back to Krakozhia. He threatens Viktor that if he doesn't come home soon, he will cause trouble for his friends. The most serious is the threat of deporting Viktor's friend, (Gupta Rajan), back to India to face charges of assaulting a policeman. Unwilling to let this happen, Viktor finally agrees to go home. However, when Gupta learns of this, he runs in front of the plane that will take Viktor home, confirms his deportation and releases Viktor's burden. The delay gave Viktor enough time to get into town. Dixon orders his officers to arrest Viktor. But disappointed with Dixon, they let Viktor leave the airport. Dixon then called the police. As Viktor got into the taxi, Amelia arrived in another taxi, they smiled briefly and made eye contact. A sign that they are at peace with reality. When the police arrive and look for Viktor, Dixon stops them and informs them that many travelers are coming in to be dealt with. Dixon consciously cancels his intention to capture Viktor. Dixon lets Viktor leave the airport. Viktor arrives in New York, at the hotel where Benny Golson is performing and finally collects the final autographs, realizing his father's dream. He then took a taxi to the airport, telling the driver, "I'm going home". The End.
I am Polski idiot.....and Tom Hanks spot on interpretation of Eastern European man and mentality. Polish are never acknowledge or appreciated. We work and labour when we don't have to, because we care of the community. We learn to speak English purely to make it easier for others. Other people can speak English, but people cannot speak Polish.
"Is home. Not afraid of home."
