  • Supplemental butyrate in the form of tributyrin can be helpful for slowing motility and firming up loose stool, which is useful for people with SIBO-D/IBS-D and some types of gut dysbiosis. It also has metabolic, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer benefits. Learn about the benefits and potential drawbacks of butyrate supplementation.

    Great information. As someone who has chronic constipation, it's nice to know that butyrate is NOT a good choice as it slows motility, and is much better suited to someone with loose stools and diarrhea issues. Thank you for your honesty and integrity, which is pretty rare these days!

    interesting. I have chronic Lyme and began antibiotics in February. Stopped after 2 weeks bc of the terrible S/E. In 2 short weeks my gut was wrecked. I did everything in my arsenal that I knew to do. Probiotics, etc etc. Was unable to evacuate without enemas. Very constipated. Motility shot. Came across Tributyrin. Started it and within 72 had my first spontaneous perfectly formed BM in 3 mos.....

      That's great! I normally don't recommend tributryin for constipated people unless they tell me they have a sense of incomplete evacuation, in which case I might recommend a low dose one every few days. Glad it worked for you!

    there are loads of research out there and most of the research in their conclusion, often say, more research is needed. when taking Sodium Butyrate SB many people state they experience changed bowl movement and differing of pain levels, energy levels and brain activity. Hard research indicates that SB can be effective and each of us will experience differing effects over a 12+ week period for SIBO and LG. Good luck with your marketing style, yes, I to am sceptical and using SB which I think may be working internally. Other issues are fodmap, mast cell issues, sibo which you mentioned and others.

    Do you recommend tributyrin for lowering blood glucose?

    • @highdeserthealth
      @highdeserthealth  6 місяців тому

      If your glucose is elevated because of dysbiosis that involves too much proteobacteria, which leads to a leaky colon and more LPS produced and sent into circulation, creating inflammation, then yes, tributyrin would be a good choice. A sign of this might be loose stool.

  • @HieuNguyen-fs9ug
    @HieuNguyen-fs9ug 2 місяці тому

    7:36 why do you think that trubutyrin slows mobility? I believe that it provides energy for the colon

    • @highdeserthealth
      @highdeserthealth  2 місяці тому

      It does both. So it firms up stool and it also helps people with incomplete evacuation to have more complete bowel movements. But I recommend lower dose butyrate on a more infrequent basis for that (if someone is constipated).

      Days if you're at the right dose. I usually say increase by one pill a day (with separate meals) and double up if necessary until you see the results (firmer stool that is). Other types of results may take longer.

    • @highdeserthealth
      @highdeserthealth  10 місяців тому +1

      Which kind of butyrate? Lighter colored stool is usually associated with insufficient bile. You may also have some type of virus or bacterial bloom that's causing the issue. If you have diagnosed SIBO, you should work with a doctor or other practitioner to address it along with taking butyrate. And higher doses of butyrate are usually necessary to firm up stool at first, so I'd keep increasing your dose. Finally, if your diarrhea isn't caused by SIBO but has some other origin, butyrate may not be effective.

      Did I hear you say a lack of butyrate causes the colon to increase oxygen? I take oxypowder sometimes -- is that a good thing?

    • @highdeserthealth
      @highdeserthealth  Рік тому

      @@Diogenes-II Oxypowder looks like it consists of ozonated magnesium oxides, which is a whole different thing than oxygen in the colon. But as a form of magnesium oxide, it would likely give you loose stool depending on how much you took.

      You said something interesting -- so do you think colon oxygenation helps with overall colon health?

    • @highdeserthealth
      @highdeserthealth  Рік тому

      @@Diogenes-II No, oxygen in the colon is the opposite of what you want. But constipation has different root causes and it's important to determine the root cause and treat that (methanogen overgrowths, H pylori, physical issues, magnesium deficiency, etc.).

    What do you think of Dr. Gundry's butyrate supplement?

    • @highdeserthealth
      @highdeserthealth  Рік тому +3

      Well his supplement has 1000 mg of Corebiome in 4 capsules, and includes Sun Fiber and spore-based probiotics. I find that dosing of butyrate is very particular to the individual and often needs adjusting, so if you want to keep your intake of the Sun Fiber and or Spore-based probiotics constant, it doesn't make sense to mix in the butyrate. And for me personally, I have found I need something around 1200-1500 mg of tributyrin to get the effect I need. But no objection to the format/technology of the butyrate itself in his supplement. But Sun Fiber is easy to take by itself and requires much more (like 1/2 tbsp.) to be effective so no point in the amount included inside a little capsule.

    Why not recommended for people with UC?

    • @highdeserthealth
      @highdeserthealth  Рік тому

      It's not that it's not recommended - I do recommend it to many clients with UC. I was just making sure, in an abundance of caution, that I mentioned the ingredients in the capsule because a similar ingredient is on the list of things people with IBD should avoid. But usually that applies more to people with Crohn's than UC. If you take other cellulose capsules without issue, then I wouldn't worry.

      Cullulose is the problem of what? And what is it in supplements? Sorry I'm just watching you video now.

    • @highdeserthealth
      @highdeserthealth  Рік тому

      @@mat77084 It's not cellulose, it's something called carboxymethyl cellulose that's a food additive that is supposed to be bad for people with Crohn's Disease specifically. The capsule on Tributyrin-Max is made of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, which is actually used as a coating for capsules of IBD-targeted pharmaceuticals, so likely not an issue, but was just trying to fully disclose any possible risks.
