This is the band you are thinking of. He was said to have sounded a lot like Robert Plant when they first began. They are quickly becoming something remarkable. They obviously have a deep love of the classic progressive rock of the 70's. In fact I think they are REALLY onto something . Apparently so do their Millions of fans. They remind me quite a bit of what it would sound like if Freddie Mercury and Queen , were to collide with Janis Joplin , and then throw in a bit of a mosh of other 70's rock bands for grins and giggles. I really think this sound is what we need today . Today's up and coming overnight Social Media supermen's only understanding of music is Over quantized, Over auto-tunued processing ,sung by talent less vocalists who cant play their instruments. Todays young musicians better pay close attention to these guys because they are not trying to become the next overnight social media superstar, in fact they are already there. They are giving us all free lessons in how to become tomorrows next musical Legend!
Three brothers (singer and lead guitar are identical twins) and younger brother on bass and keys. Drummer is a childhood friend. All in their 20s. They are from a small town in Michigan. And, most importantly, they are as good live as in the studio.
I'm 66, and this is my favorite song by them. Much of their music has a sort of Led Zeppelin sound, and Led's the best. So yeah, I really enjoy them. Chills.... 💜😎👍🙏 And BTW, I turned my, 89 yr old father on to this song and he was also blown away. We're from Kingsport, TN, BTW.
They are from Frankenmuth, Michigan, but they now all live in Nashville. I encourage you to listen to their live videos on UA-cam, Live at Red Rocks, and The Candlelight Sessions. Believe it or not they are even better live than on the albums. I have seen them in concert 4 times and I'm 58 yrs old. I miss great Rock 'N Roll music and these guys put on a phenomenal show. Josh's voice is so amazing and they play so well. I'm so happy I found your review. Hello, from Massachusetts!
💚both of your openness to what you'd hear/see at the beginning of the video warmed my heart. I just discovered this song about a month ago and have listened too many times to count now. Keep smiling 😊
You might have listened to Highway Tune, their first song that got widespread attention, and Josh was compared to Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. My best friend since 9th grade lives in Frankenmuth, which is where they’re from. Since it’s a small town and the boys started playing in local venues they’re well known by most residents. They’re named after resident Gretna Van Fleet, a well respected lady in the community, they asked her of they could use a variation of her name and she said yes. Originally they wore t-shirts and jeans but after playing at a Grammy Awards after party that Elton John hosted, he suggested they up their stage presence with creative costumes. The Kiszka brothers, Josh (vocals) and Jake (guitar) are twins, their younger brother Sam plays bass and keyboards and their childhood friend Danny Wagner plays drums. They’ve previously won one Grammy award and are nominated for another one this year. People I know who’ve seen them live say their concerts are incredible.
That's the same band you're thinking of that they sounds like Robert Plant (and oh boy he did) until some minor adjustments due to all of the criticism. Lol still don't matter, they're extremely talented and are from my hometown of Frankenmuth in MI. Look up the town... 365 days a year of Christmas! Crazy! You'll never see anything like it! Oh the name Greta Van Fleet comes from a woman from our hometown
I grew up 90 miles from Greta Van Fleet in Michigan. They are your neighbors now. They moved to Nashville to get closer to music scene. Best rock and roll band out there. Josh has an incredible voice and have seen them live. My favorite song is Black Smoke Rising but Highway Tune is their biggest hit. Almost all of their songs are very good which is rare for any artist. They are only in their mid-20's. I recommend another group Nightwish. Listen to Floor Jansen perform a song called Score. Some consider her best vocalist in the world
Thank you for these suggestions. We have added them to our list. If you are referring to Ghost Love Score, we actually reacted to Nightwish as one of our earlier reactions. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/BGkrJaf_U8c/v-deo.html
From one Grand Paw to another, you are right! At first I thought you might have been thinking Greta Van Susteren (the news person), but when you associated them with Robert Plant I laughed out loud because you nailed it! And it’s very interesting you said he doesn’t sound like Robert Plant. I reckon it’s because you have a discerning ear which hears the unique quality of Josh’s voice. But he has been compared to Robert Plant, and Robert has given Josh praise for his voice. Btw, I’m originally a boy from east TN, and I still love my birth place, even get back to Knoxville occasionally. I thought I detected an East TN accent, but if I’m wrong, my apologies. 🤙
You're probably thinking of Highway Tune or When The Curtain Falls, their earlier stuff where they looked more like a regular rock band in their videos. I think they sounded more closely standard Led Zeppelin/rock band there whereas this is a departure into pop territory. I like this so much better where the uniqueness of his vocals and delivery really stand out as something else, new and different.
I'm from Glasgow, Scotland, by the way and lucky enough to be going to see them Monday as they continue their Starcatcher album world tour. Can't wait!
@@grandparentsreact Thank you so much - and for your great channel. I love watching reaction videos so much. A great way to share music and have fun with folks all over the world!
Un abrazo desde España. He tenido la gran suerte de verlos en Madrid y ha sido una grandicima experiencia a mis 65años fue volver a mi Infancia 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
The song says to me "What if Freddy mercury and Geddy Lee were combined ino one singer?" It's such a great, great tune. Josh is one of the most talented vocalists of our time. How they arent the biggest band on earth is beyond me.
These guys are often compared to led zeppelim for good reason. Each musician has a very similar style to their led Zeppelin counterpart and they borrowed a lot of themes and sounds from them. They are evolving and no matter what anyone says about originality most people agree they are really talented. They are bringing that classic 70s rock sound back in a big way. My opinion is this one combines a lot of vibes by Bowie, Queen, Rush, and Yes. Their songs flower power and highway tune are very very Robert Plant like. Let's remember with regard to originality...even when you are borrowing, there are original ways to do it. You can cover a song in a different style. Insert a lyric or riff from one song into another. Mash up different band sounds like this. (Jellyfish was great at that too.) It can be very creative and breathe new light into the original band. I will be the first to admit that Led Zeppelin didn't need any help with their legacy but...how cool is it that these kids are compared to them. How many people dug out their old zeppelin records because of gvf? How many kids listened to zeppelin for the first time? I think that's great. It's a great style of music. You cant do this if you are a shitty musician. So let's enjoy their career.
You guys should react to Highway Tune. That is VERY Robert Plant inspired! Great song too! Edge of Darkness live in Toronto is AMAZING!! The guitar solo is INSANE!
This is the first video of yours I've watched, so I have no idea what your musical tastes are. GVF have covered a fair amount of ground musically. They have many great songs. It's hard to go wrong with them! Here are a few suggestions: Rock: Falling Sky, Cold Wind Soft rock: Who Will Bring The Rain, Age of Man Somber rock: Age of Machine Oldies: Change Gonna Come, Meet on the Ledge ...but there are so many more...
Their first album sounded like Robert plant, they got critisized for being such good and now they do make even better music xD I loved the old rocky sound they had, but I also like their new more psychedelic sound
Josh took singing lessons in 2020. I think it's name is Joe Jackson. It came out with a total different vocal after that and And sings notes that are really, really high. The LED ZEPP. Came In Young ages teenagers doing their songs and clubs and bars.
Very Geddy Lee'ish! He is evolving to remind all of us of all of our very favorites, from Robert Plant, to Steven Tyler, to Geddy Lee while staying uniquely him! Fantastic band.
I'm glad you started on Kalandra at last. Have you heard of 'Hi Ren' by the super talented Ren. All the reactors I have seen react to it have been gobsmacked and emotionally affected by it. I'm from London England by the way.
