If you want to really fall in love with them, watch the candlelight session of Tears of Rain… and Broken Bells… and Light My Love…
Fun fact, it's the same guitarist throughout the song. It starts with the acoustic and then moves to that Gibson SG. If you listen closely, there is a section in the song where there is no guitar at all. He's making the switch from the acoustic to the electric. They're able to do this live too.
Band Members: Josh Kiszka (singer and harmonica), Jake Kiszka (guitarist), Sam Kiszka (bass guitarist, piano, and organ), Daniel Wagner AKA Danny (Drums and Mandolin). They're all incredibly talented. It's hard enough to play 1 instrument as well as they do but to play multiple instruments as well as they do is absolutely insane.
The thing about greta van fleet to me is that no matter what they just sound so much better live, like no recording can honestly just show h o w good they can be live
Was just thinking this. Wish they watched the RCA live studios video of this song
I 150% agree.
Just saw them live this past week (5/21/24) and it was truly a euphoric experience. This song in particular came out the day after my grandpa passed away, so has always been super symbolic to me even though they claim the song isn't about meeting God.
@@andrewperoutka8449I think the meaning of a song really is about how you interpret it. They may not have intended for it to be perceived that way but I think songs can have different meanings depending on who you ask.
@@porschepal7932 Oh 100% I think this one is definitely interpretive depending on the listener. I’m not a huge believer of God, but due to the circumstances prior to the songs release, I definitely interpreted it that way. But it’s totally one of those songs where every person can sort of associate their own meaning to it.
All thier songs are part of a story. They want to give each listener to come up with thier own meanings of each song. They really are such talented guys on their own merit. What they say Meeting the Master is about
'Meeting the Master' peers into an esoteric world heeded by the word of a wise teacher," the band explained. "Sung in the voice of a devout believer, and eventual group exclamation, the song details the love these fervent followers have for their teacher and their firm belief in his vision. It's an exotic spiritual journey. A dark comedy that inevitably ends in chaos."
Great reaction guys. Video song from Candlelight sessions song Broken Bells and a live video from the Starcatcher album : The Archer is excellent.
One of the best songs from 2023! ❤
Definitely better than Plante now. Guy embodies an entire era of sound in his voice, not just one person anymore. The highway tune days of his style are gone. He's hitting notes RP could never touch at thus point
His range is higher than Plant was. It's not as low either. Plant could scream high but not sing up there like Josh. They are noticeably different if you have an ear.
Tbf I think if Robert had looked after his voice and had operatic training like josh did they would be probably be on a similar level
Led Zeppelin fanboy here, and I defend there blatant plagiarism.
BUT THIS GOES WITHOUT SAYING HE IS BETTER THAN ROBERT PLANT.
ROBERT PLANT WAS A SEXUAL SINGER, ROBERT IS STILL BETTER WHEN IT COMES TO CARNAL EMOTIONS.
But this guy is a complete package, a package nobody has ever seen in the industry.
Thank god i am not alone in thinking this.. im sure its a super unpopular opinion but id just much rather listen to GVF than zepplin sorry not sorry?
@@WatchingHamasBURNSame. Led Zeppelin has already been done. I'd rather hear what GVF has to offer than being too similar to a band that's already done their thing.
The weight of dreams is absolutely INSANE. also any of the candlelight sessions but esp the broken bells candlelight sessions its so beautiful
My new favorite band
The Weight of Dreams and Sacred the Thread are definitely favorites of mine.
Check out their RCA Studio A live videos they just released
YES! These are incredible
Love them💯
This was written by Josh lead singer It’s from his soul but it can mean different things to different listeners
They don't sound like Led Zeppelin. They sound like Greta VanFleet. And they sound even better live.
I agree. And ppl really need to stop the comparisons. They are who they are.
check out Broken Bells candlelight sessions... beautiful! also from previous album... Age of Machine Live.
This song is amazing live! I saw them do it at Madison Square Garden and it was one of the highlights of the concert. Josh's vocals when the song switches from acoustic to electric were amazing
Time for The Weight Of Dreams😎
Check out the live Pinkpop version, outdoor concert...amazing!!! 😍
I hope so
Absofuckinglutely
Yes
WEIGHT OF DREAMS SUPREMACY FOREVER
Broken Bells Candlelight session or Flower Power live at red rocks ♥️
Age of man at Red Rocks is the beginning, it's a must watch for every fan
Now that yall have heard Meeting the Master and The Falling Sky PLEASE do a reaction to the RCA Studio A versions they just released!!
Where is it! I love them so much. 🎉❤
@@robjons Their channel
you guys should react to heat above!
Live,even better
They are such a good band sen them live and seeing again later this year and there phenomenal Josh’s vocals live are unmatched his voice is so beautiful live especially this song cuse he dose an op up and it just sooo gooooooddd
The Archer is my favorite from Starcatcher.
This song is in reference to a devout worship of a believer and his teacher. In a cultish kind of way. You guys have to listen to some live stuff. They are awesome live.
“Age of Man and You’re the One live from Red Rocks.
“Safari Song and Edge of Darkness” live in Toronto
Candlelight sessions “Broken Bells and Light my Love”
Heat Above original video.
Love your GVF reactions. They are simply amazing! Like you said in your very first review of this band, I am so glad these guys are out there!
These guys are sooooooo awesome 💯😎👏❤️✌️
@@brendawentzell128 totally agree! I am addicted ❤️
Anybody else think the chick is a voluntary sacrifice to the unnamed God? She is wearing a red cloak. They have red hands….blood on their hands. I think in general the song conveys the insider view of what it is like to experience spiritual ecstasy and then take it to a place of madness and violence. The first bridge expresses that ecstatic feeling, but by the end it becomes sinister…the scenes suggestive of a dark ritual and potential sacrifice and then Josh’s words “blow it up to give him all of our love” and his insane frenzy as the fire flares. In the wrong hands spiritual ecstasy can become as potent and violent a drug as any other man has created. This is the closest I ever want to come to understanding the mind of a religious terrorist.
Greetings from the UK..this particular track is so folky I got all the symbolism in the video. Combination of folk music and rock oustanding. They had the Lady of the Lake as you may know the story of Excalibar sword (King Arther) the white horse..we have a Huge white horse in chalk on a hill thats been found to be more ancient than realised representing a female benevolrnyt folk hero. Also remember the White horse in Lord of the Rings? Oh snd the Oak tree big symbol for Druids. There are like a prophetic band if you see some of their other videos and songs which I guess makes them true Bards sent here to inspire us.
Love you guys take on this I get leg chills every time I hear it Another fave of mine and others is Stardust Chords I’d love to know what you think of it Thanks
Yep! Goosebumps every single time!
The guys don’t really get upset at LZ comparisons, per se, it’s when people who are less than fond of them claim that GVF are stealing LZs songs and not being original, which is obviously preposterous. These guys have their own style now and it’s a futile measure to perpetuate that crap.
Stardust Chords is IT for me! ❤️
You guys are only three songs in on this phenomenal band and a deeper dive will yield you some very interesting perspective.
This guys voice is like Jon Anderson from the genius band “ YES”, very similar , wonder if he was inspired ?
Absolutely nothing at all in common with Jon Anderson.
Great reaction, gotta do live ones. These guys are great in the studio, bu great-ER live! Candlelight sessions, and RCA studio sessions are all good options but anything live from their channel works.
weight of dreams!!
Just saw them in Milwaukee!!
I haven't been this in to a new band since Rush. Dseeezzzz
I love your review! Thank you for appreciating their talent! They just released a few of the studio cuts of Starcatcher. You HAVE to watch Indigo Streak at RCA studios! It’s the rocker of the album and you can distinctly hear every single instrument, and Josh’s voice is better than you’ve ever heard in any other song because you can hear it clearly without any autotune. The only thing they might use is a little echo, but I’m not even sure about that.
Thank you for that!
To your God of all music idea.. when you see the live show they put in specific riffs and grooves from classic songs. Before they play classically instrumented clips from Starcatcher musical themes. Like Quadrophenia or even like Peter and the Wolf. True journey.
Check out the indigo streak! The band put out 2 live performances of it. One in the studio and one in concert
react to the live version from RCA Studio A!!!
This song live is great too.. The master is Earth or universe.
This was amazing... great stuff
I am taken by the madness I have live from starcatcher on video, gives me chills!!!!!
gotta listen to "Heat Above" next. some of the best vocals you'll ever hear them hit, and that's saying something lol.
Please check out....
WEIGHT OF DREAMS
THE ARCHER
BUILT BY NATIONS
loved your reaction!!!
Cheers! Thanks for the recommendations.
I'm surprised they're not compared to Styx more. They like synergized so many styles that us GenXer have been missing since our youth. This song had me pull over my car and listen and really started my Greta journey.
Next up is Weight of Dreams you gotta do it
I recommend to check out all their Live videos on their channel. It looks like you haven't explored any tracks from their previous album, "The Battle At The Garden's Gate." A lot of great tracks on that one. They also have a set of tracks from "Starcatcher" that are also live (including this one), and they're fantastic. Trust all commenters (myself included) when we say they're all better live.
React to Heat Above and Light My Love next
I'm 59 and I can solidly say, he is better that Robert Plant. These guys are from Frankenmuth Michigan and I highly recommend going there, especially at Christmas. Zehnders has the best chicken dinners period. Lots of places to shop
I'm from just around the corner in Wisconsin so it sounds like a nice day trip! Thanks for the recommendation!
Agree with you guys, that dude is really at Robert Plant level...holly molly they are good.
The band admitted they have no clue. Its up to the listener to decide who the "Master" is.. mine is Sho Nuff...
🤣 YES!!! - iykyk
Does anyone else hear that prog rock, Yes, Jon Anderson sound?
Greta kind of explained this as a “dark comedy” about people blindly following their faith with extreme devotion to the point it gets kind of evil and dark
I HAVE SEEN THEM 5 TIMES LIVE, 6 TH IN MAY. NEVER DO THEY DISSAPOINT LIVE. IF NOT BETTER
Not sure it matters who they sound like. If the music moves you and it’s good, you know it when you know it.
Vocals remind me somewhat of Shannon Hoon . And I really like Shannon's vocals. So thumbs up.
Also vocals kinda sound like the lead singer of Angel. Go listen to Angel's lead vocalist. But I also think he sings in the style somewhat of Blind Melons lead vocalist.
You should listen to "you're the one" or "flower power"
In my opinion Josh sounds more like Geddy Lee if I had to compare him to someone. I’ve heard that the reason Jake’s guitar playing can sometimes sound like Page is because they were both inspired by the same artists from the 50s and 60s. The Kiszka family grew up listening nothing bust super old school vinyls.
Now heat above or weight of dreams
Can't you see by Marshal Tucke is the song you're thinking ofr
Defiantly a touch of Zeppelin
I've always thought he sounds more like Dio
Better than Robert Plante? No. Different? Yes. Unbelievably talented? Definitley.
Loved your reactions and subscribed too. Josh has vocal range that is just plain sick. Jake can shred a mean guitar as good as anyone. Sam and Danny are so good that completes this band so tight. Check out Candlelight Sessions Light My Love. I’m glad you guys complimented them positively. Thanks
Sorry. RP wishes he could sing like Josh :) But I still think this is GVF's Stairway to Heaven.
Is the "Master" not God? Some people are saying earth, music, or the universe and all of those are fine options. I don't know what their beliefs are so you all might know something I don't but it seems like God or if you prefer, the Creator of all things is the simplest answer.
GVF are fire ..and they are better live if you can believe it
Vocal melody was stolen from Jethro Tull. Reason for Waiting on the album Stand Up.
I 100% agree that he sings better than Plant. Josh regularly hits a G5 super casually. Plant could never.
M a huge led Zeppelin fanboi to a point I defend them for their obvious plagiarism😅
BUT I HAVE TO SAY THIS HE SINGS BETTER THAN PLANT ON ANY UNIVERSE.
Greta is so off the hook I can't even put it into words.
Better than Plant??? Behave guys! 🙄
Better.
