    Mortal Remains Lyrics:
    --------------------------------------------------------
I am digging deeper into the dark sand
Cold and wet earth in my bare hands
A desperate undertaking, it is all I have left
I cannot live with this unbearable pain in my chest
I do not care if I am disturbing you
Oh, I know I am filled with greed
Finally I found you, I need to feel whole
Oh, my love, I am here to take back what you stole
Somewhere in your coffin, I am searching for my soul
I do not care if I am disturbing you
Oh, I know I am filled with greed
You disturbed me ever since you left me here to bleed
All I have found are your mortal remains
    Lying on this dirty ground
Where are you now? Where are you now?
    I cannot feel you around
I do not care if I am disturbing you
Oh, I know I am filled with greed
You disturbed me ever since you left me here to bleed

Can we just talk about how good Zora's acting is in this video? You can really feel how enraged and saddened she is when she opens the coffin in hopes of seeing that loved one again, only to find a corpse and nothing else. No light in their eyes, no soul in their being, just mortal remains. Whoever was in that coffin is truly gone. Anyone who's ever lost someone knows this feeling. It's heartbreaking! Brava, Zora!

Her acting is great in every video, ever since "Until Eternity", although I think my favorite is still the switch from utter rage - to the satisfaction that her delicate lady brain is soon to have - in "I'd Rather Burn". It's a subtle little twist that I just love.

This song was on repeat when I lost my mother. It was so nice to have the anxiety, pain, grief and anger channelled in a song. Just having the feeling "I want to see them again" is so painful, like being unable to accept they're actually gone.

Imo you know why most people go insane?
Because all that, anger, rage, sadness, despair, love and angst... in most people have no talent in expression through art or music.
It just bottles up inside twisting and turning, becoming a maelstrom of emotions until we eventionally explode into insanity or deep depression. Rage destructively against the world or spiral down into self destruction.
However sometimes people are born with a talent of self expression in art, books, music...that they can share their stories with the rest of the human race where some people can find sweet release in the beauty of another's creation.
Honestly artists of all types save more people's souls than they realise, even if they are only trying to prevent or repress their own insanity.

  • @ninaaaaishere

I feel like, the message, is that she went back to her old dead self...
A part of her died when the person that she gave her soul to left (be it by walking away or through death). And she tries to find the part of her that died, in hopes that she will feel whole again if things go back to the way it was, if she had her old self back. Only to find that she can't go back, and will forever have her innocence, joy, and warmth torn away from her, and can never have it back.
Or I got it wrong. I didn't want to read in to the obvious message, but how this video spoke to me in it's own way.
🖤Still an amazing piece of art!🖤

I may be straining here to find an association but I swear it feels like this is connected to Until Eternity. Like a solemn ending to the story where her loved one has passed and she feels she cannot bear anymore. He is apart of her soul, being soul mates and all, and is desperately trying to find that bond again but cannot move on. Not to mention when she lays down at the end it reminds me of the opening of Until Eternity. Making this feel, to me, like it has come full circle.
edit: As well as the dates on the tombstone. I didn't catch that before!

Very deep and dark leaving you with a soulful longing of a fading memory. There is sadness, desperation, anger, and rage before the grief and loss in this song. All the grief cycle of losing another. An excellent video to go with this song since the same emotions are echoed within it while sharing her actions and reactions portrayed in each phase. The last part where she lies on the ground makes you feel her emptiness as full realization sets in. Beautifully haunting.

There are songs that make a difference in our lives, their strong message fills the void and says the will that lacks us from a reality. Sometimes it's enough ... Listening to understand that a story is not just a story. Blackbriar, I always get goose bumps on the way you work and demonstrate to us, fans, the authenticity of a work done with love and thought. Your old-fashioned, stationary style makes us want to be part of that story and perspective. It is because they are what they are that makes me your fan and more than that, your follower. One day, wherever you are, I will sing your songs up high as I see you performing.

I discovered your songs a year ago and since I listened to them, I got enchanced by Zora's voice (she sounds like an angel singing) and with the "feeling" of the group.
While I was listening to it, I remembered my best friend. She died 7 years ago, and the lyrics of the song described exactly how I felt.

If this song had come out before "Until Eternity", it would have made perfect sense. For it felt like the continuation of a story. This would be the denial behavior regarding the loss of her loved one and the other would be the acceptance and realizing that despite everything in another life they would be reunited again.

I like anything Blackbriar does !! Zora does do really good videos..she's a natural actress..she does such a great job making videos, a lot of her videos have That Forest..I lived in a forest that looks EXACTLY like that forest, and My boyfriend passed away there too when we lived there...so I can really relate to her videos.......

Love your voice, always very beautiful. As for the contents of the song I love how well it encapsulates the full depths of greif and denial, having lost some of my closest friends it's refreshing to hear a realistic take on loss and just how truly darn and consuming it can really be.
