  • Wadi Hoqain , Is approx. a 1.5 hours drive from Muscat, take the Muscat - Sohar Express Highway, It's an easy wadi to reach, with proper sign boards right upto the wadi. Unfortunately, we did not bother looking at the location map before heading out and that landed us into an unknown, offroad wadi with more than an hour lost in re tracing ourselves to the right path ( Lesson learnt, take the time to at least study the location map and get your general bearings and directions to the destination, what's shocking is through it all Google Maps did not once alert us that we were heading in the wrong direction, So much for technology Ha! Ha!).
(Please note, once you see the wadi, there are multiple ways to reach the wadi or start the trek). The coordinates will place you in front of a Mosque. Make your way towards the Wadi, you will need to cross a farm and some houses. Once you reach the clearing to the Wadi you will be at an elevation with the main water pools below. We moved towards the left which was the start of the Wadi from where we descended down very easily.
Be warned, its a very short Wadi Trek so take the time to really enjoy every bit of this wadi upto the main water pools. The topography, rock formations and water colour is very unique and unlike anything I have seen in Oman. The whitish blue look of the water seems to come from the white limestone ground rocks. The water was much warmer than the other wadis we visited during this time of the year. I’m not sure if its Sulphur as mentioned in many online posts.
The main pools are great to try out Wadi/ cliff jumps, which we overdid. My younger girl aged 5, finally broke through her fear of jumping and both my daughters ended up doing more than 10 jumps each. We did not go further as the other Pools seemed a little dirty and littered with garbage. This is sad and such a shame. My daughters ended up collecting quite a lot of garbage along the way and we discarded it in a bin.
Its a great half day trip, if done without any wrong turns, like we did, LOL!!!!
    Have fun!!!

    Beautifully captured mate.
We were looking for some good place and finally found one..
    Just few quick questions:
    1. Can sedan go till your coordinates?
    2. Is it safe for kids (3 yrs old)
    3. During these times, will couple of families be allowed there?
    Thanks mate. Cheers!!!

      Hi ,
Thanks for watching and your comments
      1. Yes you can park your car at the spot ( see end of the video).
      2. Take a life jacket for all you guys, even if you can swim ( my kids were 5 and 7 when we did it).
      3. I’m not sure but it’s a more isolated wadi but close to the village so I don’t think it will be an issue.
View the video to see what to expect from the trip.
      Have fun.
