So glad to see a post. My dad's funeral was today and it's been a really emotionally exhausting day. Plus I have ADHD and all the people from the wake last night and funeral today had me way over-stimulated. I slept for 4 hours after we got home and I'm still tired. But an Emmy video helped cheer me up. 🥰
This is like the perfect recipe for me! My favorite sushi is salmon and I was made for avocados 🥑 I would use chopped scallions instead of jalapeños because I'm super sensitive to spicy foods and maybe top it off with some lightly toasted sesame seeds! This is awesome, I will definitely try it out
Oh! I love "Sushi pizza", which is basically this, but thinner and wider (in radius), so it looks like a patty, but of fried rice. Then there's all the same ingredients on top, and it's split in mini-pizza-slices. You can get them at every sushi shop in Quebec! :D
Thank you so much Emmy for always making these lovely videos. You have no idea how much light these bring to my life in dark times! Thank you again for continuing to make such uplifting creative content.
haha Note to self....wear a long sleeved T-shirt when frying the rice 🙂 Plus looking at how hard it is to eat i may go for thinner rice circles. But great vid Emmy, looks lovely
Crispy sticky rice sushi is my all-time favorite thing eat whenever I find it on a menu. I will try this, and will do a hybrid crisping method (very low level of oil w/ the corn starch dusting), because spattering oil scares the bejeezus out of me! I think I'd like to make it with the rice cubes smaller though. Great video, Emmy!
Just made this with leftover sushi rice and it was fantastic - I shallow fried and it was still superspitty, fortunately I was forearmed with the splatter cover 😁
you did great for your first try - its delicious! I believe it wasn't Chef Nobu but rather Chef Katsu of Katsu-ya in Studio City that created Crispy Rice Spice Tuna (Salmon). A trick to prevent the spatter is to lightly coat your Rice squares in corn starch before putting in the oil. I also use about half the oil that was in your pan - you don't need much to create the crisp outside. Love your videos!
Note for anyone who hasn't previously handled raw jalapeños or chili 🌶️ peppers, don't get raw chili on your hands & if you do, don't touch your face or anything, especially your eyes 👀. There's a reason they're usually pickled
@@jane-annarmstrong295 Water is not very effective for that. Capsaicin is not water soluble, so water will just spread it around. Something with milk fat is much more effective. Wash your hands with whole milk, yogurt, or sour cream. That will stop the burning much quicker.
This looks extremely yummy! I wonder if you could mold the rice into tiny little bowls before refrigerating? So you'd have a little fried sushi rice cup full of spicy mayo salmon. Mmm! Also, easier to eat. 😅
Emmy I just have to tell you and I hope you are aware of how wholesome, fun, and educational your content is. You are such a kind bright soul and you always bring a smile to my face. I want to thank you for being the incredible, fun loving person you are. My best to you and your family. Continue to shine queen!
Nuuuuu don't get burned Emmy!!!! I did get a bit of a laugh though from your reaction XD I agree, bad method at least without the cornstarch. You are adorable and awesome! Thanks for another fun and informative video!
I have a Kura Revolving Sushi Bar near me and I LOVE their Crispy Rice with Spicy Salmon. Also at my location idk about others but the fries come out hot, crispy, and fluffy on the inside. I saw someone order it and Im like those look so good! So now my mother and I have to get the fries everytime we go. The Umami Oil Seared Beef is one of my favorites there besides the Crispy Rice. :D
I am familiar with the shortage, I bought up a good supply to last me a while. the last couple weeks its been sold out most stores, and many stores have actually not only sold out, but removed the tags and basically are stocking other products in their place so we know its not just out of stock atm but the suppliers are also running out.
This reminds me of the time my partner and i shared a jar of jalepeño candied salmon one of their reletives from the village sent them. I don't even like jalepeños most of the time (they always taste weridly bitter to me) but it was some of the best salmon i ever had.
This looks so good. I love the concept of sushi but I do not like fish, especially salmon. I usually order a tempura roll - this looks like it would be an at-home similar experience ^^ I'd use tuna-mayo on top personally. Maybe I'll give this a try!
Oh my gosh! I don’t care for salmon or avocado, but this video has convinced me me to disregard dislikes and go for it!🤣. Thanks for all of your delightful vlogs.
Using corn starch to avoid oil spilling is a nice trick, will use it in some other dishes Perhaps cutting the rice a bit thinner will fit the mouth better :D Looks amazingly good :9
I order these at Kura all the time- but they come in a group of 3 and they're perfect bite sized pieces. I think I'm going to give a try at making this, maybe with the air fryer though.

I second this, splatter screens have saved my hands from popping oil drops many times.
I was going to comment the same thing.
Never fry without one.
I prefer to think of her as a content creator and not an “influencer.”
Grease splatter screens - kitchen essential, and easily cleaned in the dishwasher!

ive made these with tuna and mayo instead of salmon a few times! its soo good and fast :)
I just did this and it was excellent. Best spicy tuna!

I'm really surprised you've never had this before. I always order it whenever I go out for sushi, definitely one of my favorite appetizers!
Anything with a slice o jalapeño pepper on top has gotta be dee-lish-us!! 😀🌶
I’ve had this at sushi places in Vegas when I lived out there, so yummy.
I just want a plate full of these fried rice cubes! 🤤
This looks (and sounds) amazing. What a delightful recipe. Thank you, Emmy. 💗
This looks sooooo delicious!! I’m a sucker for spicy salmon and avocado 🤤🤤
Well I'm definitely making this. I've made ride this way before and I loved it. Thank you for introducing me to another new and delicious food.❤️

Looks yum. I would make the rice a bit thinner. Definitely going to make this.
Good morning emmy🥰 Crispy salmon, wow new recipe for me... That looks so delicious, Thanks for sharing emmy, have a good day❤️
Me and the fam jam are watching this currently missing the sushi from HEB down in Texas, yours came out amazing
Just made this with leftover sushi rice and it was fantastic - I shallow fried and it was still superspitty, fortunately I was forearmed with the splatter cover 😁
When I lived in Alaska for a summer I had a endless supply of salmon
I’ve been mixing Gochujang with Sriracha and mayo. Love it with fish
Wow! Like how you refrigerated it to get the block shape.
OMG I just have to try this.... Thank you Emmy! You rock lady!
That CRUNCH was so satisfying!

LOL around 6:10 when the rice makes the oil explode 'Ah! Oh my GOSH...this is not safe' haha that was priceless.
Also there's a Sriracha/Tabasco version and it's my FAV I highly recommend it!!
Honey always use a splash screen when frying, just incase. Safety first doll. That looked absolutely amazing btw! Yummmmm!

Looks like a slightly larger square pan producing shorted rice bases would make them easier to fit in your mouth. I want to give these a try
Oh YUM! This looks fantastic! 🍣
I’ve seen crisped onigiri, but never sushi. What a delicious idea!

In Canada (or at least Ontario as far as I know) we have sushi pizza! It's a disk of the crispy rice and whatever sushi toppings can go on top

Where do you find your sushi-grade fish? My wife and I love sushi but we’ve never made it ourselves
I went to a local sushi restaurant and asked if I purchase just the fish.

Corn starch dipped cubes vs plain cubes...was there any difference in crunch or texture?
I'm delighted that you tried this for us! It's one of those recipes on tiktok that I never forgot about and it's hard to go wrong with it.
