Thank you for all your hard work and creativity making such a beautiful and informative video. I appreciate your channel, your videos make me feel inspired and happy 🥰
Thank you for putting this video out! I love sushi so much but my husband isn't keen on the more traditinoal sushi, some of these would fit his palette perfectly!
Very nice video, many thanks. Just one question, It is always challenging for me to make rice properly. What is the best way to make sushi rice? do you have complete video about sushi rice? Thanks in advance
Thank you so much for watching my video! To make sushi rice, simply mix cooked rice with a mixture of rice vinegar, sugar, and salt, as I do in the video. What you want to know is how to cook rice well? Do you use a pot or rice cooker?
I have the answer! I'm an ESL teacher. American English - shrimp/ British English - prawn. Either is fine. Your recipes sound and look delicious as always! I'm going to attempt making the shrimp sushi : )
Oh! Thank you teacher!! I am so clear about the difference now :D And, I am so glad you liked the recipe. Yes, shrimp sushi is my favorite too. Please enjoy it!!
That's right. I'm really happy when I can make it just right 😁 Thank you so much for always watching my video!! Hope you will enjoy sushi rolls when you have a chance 💕
Thank you so much for your adorable tutorial. I love all your Videos and Recipes. And: here in Germany we call the Prawns Shrimps and the very little ones from the North Sea "Krabben". It's a typical word in North Germany.
looks yummy! While very similar in appearance, shrimp and prawns are two distinct species. Prawns tend to be larger than shrimp, and often taste sweeter. There are more varieties of shrimp, too. Both animals have 10 legs, but prawns have pincers on three pairs of legs, while shrimp just have one clawed duo.
Wow u make this look so easy. I have a bamboo mat already but is it easier with the wrap than the mat? In english most people call it shrimp but there r some that call it prawns an quite a few seafood resturants call it as prawns as well. It depends on what part of the U S u live in as to what its called. This looks like its fun to make as well. 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you very much for your comment! If you have a bamboo mat, you should use it. I think it's better 👍 About the prawn and shrimp, thank you so much for telling! I didn't know that even in the same America, the terminology changes depending on where you live. Hope you enjoy making the sushi rolls 😊😍😍
I see! I didn't know about that! Thanks for telling me about the difference. And I am so happy to hear you liked the video!! Thank you so much! Hope you can try it some time :D
Wow! Just in time. I have a friend coming over tomorrow that has never tried sushi. She thought that it was only with raw fish. I don't do raw fish either. I will watch this again to see if I have the ingredients for those that I have never tried before. I mostly make the usual avocado/fake crab/cucumber version. Time to improve my sushi game.
You said it's a good idea to roll the rice with just an egg rather than nori. Will that really work well or will it break? I don't like nori and am looking for an alternative.
I wanna try some of this sushi recipes, and i've had one more idea as well when i watched your egg sushi recipe, that is to make filloa wrapped sushi. Filloa (also caled freixó) is a recipe from my homeplace, a very thin sheet made of egg, flour and water and coocked in a frying pan with little oil or pork fat, usually eaten at this time of the year (Carnival). For the inside, instead of spinach, i'd use grelo, that is a leaf vegetable also typical in this country at this time of the year. Just an idea! :)
Oh wow...always wanted to know how to make maki with the rice on the outside! I feel silly as you make it look so easy.Definitely, trying it next time i make them!Great ideas and as always so easy,Thank you.
Thank you very much for saying that!! I am so glad you liked them. You are not silly! I think you will get used to it after doing it a few times and it will become very easy to do! Enjoy delicious maki sushi at home 😍😍
It looks easy enough, maybe I will try one day 😁 I bought Japanese mayo after watching your videos... It was pretty expensive (because imported), but so worth it! I was never a fan of mayo, but the Japanese mayo is so good!! I don't think I'll ever buy different mayonnaise again! Now I understand why Hijikata from "Gintama" is so obsessed with mayo 🤣
Thank you for watching my video as always! That's cute you noticed about the character in "Gintama". I am so happy now you like the mayo so much!! Hope you enjoy making various dishes with it. I highly recommend potato salad with that mayo 😊
I love it too. But I was saving the last little bit of my last bottle for something special and it went off on me. 😕 Wasn't much left. Time to buy some more. I have seen a recipe, but of course, you don't have the same shelf life as the commercial version.
In the UK and Europe I think they tend to use the word "prawn", while in North America we use the word "shrimp". These Maki sushi look delicious, I really want to try to make them now. 😋
Thank you so much for answering the question. Now I know very well about the difference 😊 And, I am so happy to hear that you liked the recipe. Hope you enjoy every kind of them 😘
Shrimp have one pair of legs that include claws at the end, but prawns have three pairs with claws. Prawns also tend to have legs that are a bit longer in relation to the size of the body than shrimp of similar size.
Shrimp are smaller and only found in the ocean. Prawn are larger and can be found in fresh water or brackish water. However, the names tend to be used interchangeably due to their similar look.
@@JapaneseCookingChannel I just made some rolls with egg. Never even thought about using egg.I’m Unagi, shrimp, or bust normally. Instead of mixing the yolks, I stirred them separately, and drizzled it in while I cooked/rolled the whites. It gave it a pretty marbled/swirled look that I think you should try.
@@JapaneseCookingChannel you're always welcome, as the day has ended for me (it is 11:32 pm) I will bid you good day. But I want to tell you I look forward to your next video. As always, your friend, Senia
Prawns and shrimp actually are 2 different species, but not lot of people know it including me 😅. We can identify both by their leg, especially under their head, prawn has more legs than shrimp, not sure how to explain it here, just ask Mr Google on how to identify them 👌🏼
In America it depends on size small ones 1 to 1.5 inches are called shrimp, large ones 1.5 inches or larger are called prawns. America is weird. Oddball question but what brand Tonkatsu sauce do you use?
