  • In this episode we develop the biggest expansion to Coniferia yet, as we build the big hilly neighbourhood of Real Hills, which features a density transition from 5-6 story tenements, apartment blocks, to row houses, and finally two-story detached single-family houses! All the while covering the very interesting and unique story of how Real Hills originated as a result of the origin of neighboring Hillside.

    - What's the rationale behind this project:
What happens if a washed-up-used-to-be-UA-camr gathers a bunch of "generic" looking assets (though mostly inspired by Australian / Canadian cityscapes) with the hopes of creating a Cities: Skylines region full of towns and cities that both look realistic and are inspired by Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA, while at the same time don't really replicate any one particular style? No idea, let's find out.
Join me in this Cities: Skylines modded gameplay / let's play / timelapse series as we expand the region, and build new infrastructure, highways, public transit, industrial pockets, NIMBY-neighbourhoods, sprawling suburbs and bustling downtowns. And of course, use tress excessively to cover up any imperfections!
    Q & A:
Do you have a MOD/Asset list?
Step 1: Get the Skyve mod from Steam workshop: steamcommunity...
Step 2: Get the Coniferia MOD collection here: pixeldrain.com...
Step 3: Use Skyve profile feature to import the MOD collection.

Incredible build as always, some real San Francisco vibes going up the hill! One thing, the road on top of the retaining wall in central real hills is a one way cul de sac and will likely cause garbage problems as nobody can leave! Everything else is superb!

Thank you so much! And yeah in a more normal game, it would cause issues - but since Coniferia is heavily modded, it's not really gonna cause an issue actually. 😄

You should add some sort of big box retail store into port Douglass because it doesn’t have anything like that at the moment. I suggest you use an urban target asset that is on the workshop, it could fit the city because it’s slightly more compact than other target asserts on the workshop

I was wondering, do we need that highway cutting city if it is not leading anywhere? Shouldn't we cut it somewhere earlier? Asking this mainly because we have trams coverage thru this city and it seems it will be growing.. And if there is issue with traffic, there is always option to make underground one with tools and make some money of it too :) Nonetheless I am happy to see Coniferia back, and enjoying it to the fullest!

    • @Infrastructurist
      @Infrastructurist  Рік тому +4

Good input Eldin - We might remove it in the future. The initial plans was for it to continue south and actually cross the narrow straight of water between the island Port Douglas is situated on and the very southern parts of Coniferia :-)

@@Infrastructurist Oh makes sense! Then maybe option to go for tunnel earlier around space where Tram depot is and keep it on other side of mountain? Would give entry/exit to city around that spot and would keep option to make enother entry/exit from another side too. Looking forward to see how it goes!

@@Infrastructurist That's certainly a good plan! Perhaps you might want to do a big dig: convert the highway through town into a Central Artery Tunnel from just north of the trolley (tram) depot to just south of the Real Hill rowhouse district. It would make for a nice linear park linking downtown Port Douglas with the neighborhoods uphill.

Thank's for sharing your video's with us. I enjoy watching your content because I believe you're one, if not the best Cities Skylines builders on UA-cam or anywhere else for that matter. How you design and detail your city's is beyond anything that anyone else is doing and the stories that you create for your series gives your video's a life of there own. So just wanted to say thank you for your time and effort in creating something that I have come to enjoy Immensely...💯👍

As an investor group in Coniferia, here's a business proposal:
After getting confirmation from both the NBA and the NHL that relocation of a team to Coniferia would be possible
if an arena is built, we are seeking approval from the board to approve financing. The first arena of the region, of about 18,000 seats capacity, would be located in a prime site of the downtown. This would obviously mean destroying some older buildings. However, this would not only give great opportunity to neighboring businesses, it would also put Coniferia on the map with great exposure. It would also allow for concerts of international caliber to be held at our doorstep instead of needing to drive hours away. Our investors group would be willing to but 50% of the money down. A special tax on events and food sold in the arena would help raise 25% within 5 years. The rest of the money would be given by the government if allowed by the council.

A fabulous build! 😍😍 You've got some subtle San Francisco, Boston and Pittsburgh vibes going on through your new 'hood. And the rocks all strewn about and embedded in the town forest on top of the hill are a sure indication that the glaciers have paid a visit to Coniferia in the distant past. Excellent work! 👏👏👏👏👍👍

I live in San Diego by hillcrest and north park close to north balboa park. The single family houses that you built remind me a lot of my neighborhood. And you can find midrises around the park too so the overall vibe is very similar, except maybe for the curvy roads up the hill which you can easily find elsewhere north of San Diego ie between solana beach and La Jolla. If I may, you should take more inspiration from San Diego. Maybe build a huge university campus similar to UCSD which is connected to up- mid- and downtown San Diego via an impressive trolley line. And from what I see on your map it’d be really easy to do something similar to mission bay and Coronado (north island + blvd) north of hillside. Anyways please keep updating this series I love it, it’s like a toy town ion of San Diego ❤❤❤
