A lot of people who think they need a crew cab really don't. The double cab Tundra has 35 inches of legroom in the back, which is more than enough for most people's needs. Of course, then you get the standard 6.5 bed which is a must for me.

The only thing is its 2WD and not the 4WD , but I prefer the 2WD since it hasnt snowed where I live in 8 years. I can get the truck for under $20 thousand. I would love your advice. I really like this Toyota engine and its a crew cab. Thx Buddy.
Hello, thanks for the video. I’m currently hesitant between limited trd and platinum. May I ask on more than 2 hours road trips, do you find have any backache due to the seats? Do you find the platinum too loud (I heard it’s louder than limited)
Part of the reason I went to the Platinum is the better seats. My lower back acts up on road trips. So far the Platinum seats are great, no back issues. The truck is not loud at all, with the exception of the engine and exhaust.. which should be the same on all trim levels with the exception of the PRO. Overall very quiet for a 1/2 ton truck. make sure the Limited has BSM and dimming side mirrors. Game changers for road trips. If you like the chrome look, consider the Limited. Otherwise the Platinum is the way to go IMO. Have fun with it.
I got a 2021 limited the same color of yours. But yes like you I am not crazy about all that crome but I am not going to change it but I am going to add sway bars front and back. I do have the off road packages. The only thing that I can see I don't have is the Folding mirrors and the memory seats Which the platinum has in the limited doesn't

I just test drove a 21 platinum and couldn't believe the power tailback was an added option🤦🏻♂️ the platinum is supposed to have all the bells and whistles already
Heck with putting the money in the rims and tires or Jack in the front end up just put the money and stuff that makes more fuel mileage that's more sensible
Duel exhaust changes power load and you will notice it. If you want the growl and keep the smooth power band change out muffler can for a slightly more free flowing exhaust. Duel exhaust is amazing but without a tune it kinda seems to bog down. Bumper has crush space like just about every new vehicle. Fantastic truck, if you wanna make it a plat pro thats cool, but there are better suspension setups for the cash. Keep up the good work cant wait to see how it ends up!
Thanks for the feedback, I’m starting to look at suspension now. What would you recommend? I’m on the road 90% of the time and I like softer suspension.
If thats the case leave shocks alone and just do the lift level kit.(fit slightly bigger tires if wanted different stance.) want something that rips and have cash to make it happen get a camburg setup with any shock upgrades.camburg.com/vehicles/toyota/ . Or go with a lift that gives you what you want and good shocks. Icon old man emu stuff tons of options for your money.
No but have helped put some together similar but that one is running camburg parts. I believe upgraded long travel shocks from kings. Just depends on what you wanted but a good lift with upgrades is going to go a long way on an already capable truck. Good luck!

Good question, maybe I should make a video on this? The long and short is that the platinum and 1794 are very similar. They are both well appointed with all the bells and whistle‘s etc. Most of the major differences are aesthetics. The interior of the 1794 is a tan leather. Most people seem to either love it or hate it. Also, the 1794 comes with a significant amount of chrome on the exterior especially the front end. Again, most people seem to love the chrome or hate the chrome. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one of these trucks.👍
Pretty close. The exterior of the 1794 comes with a lot of chrome. The front end etc. If you like that look it’s an excellent choice. Very close to the same price as a Platinum.

I just got a 2021 sr5. this is the 3rd day of owning the truck i found a bunch of problems. Maybe there nothing major but it pisses me off bc its a brand new truck with my hard earn money The rear of the Headliner where it meets the rear window, looks like they cut the headliner short. Not a clean fit. There is about a half inch gap. Right side of the front windshield there is a line from top to bottom. Its a glare / defective window One of the keys they gave me as a chip in the key and it has a had time going into the ignition and starting up the truck, and a hard time taking the key out When i start the truck up and put it into gear and start driving i hear a clunk every time. It has the bed linder from the factory. They forgot to spray the two the hooks towards the back of the bed. They left it un painted On the Front windshield on the outside of the truck, On the drivers side. The seal on the top is starting to come off I will try to upload pictures
Dang! Sorry! That is such a bummer. You should check the manufacturing date, I wonder if it’s a Covid truck. I’ve heard that there was lots of temporary workers filling in during the early stages of Covid. Manufacturing may not have been as solid. The headliner issue is across the board, all the new truck seem to have that same issue. The other issues seem like they should be fixed. I found a few little things about my truck but nothing too big.

You don't have that gap between bumper and rear of truck if ever someone were to bump your bumper it crush quarters
The Nightshade Limited offers those chrome blackouts you described
love our videos. I have a question . Recently Ive been offered a, 2015 Toyota Tundra TRD - SR5 _ with the 5.7L 8-Cylinder Gas Engine . Miles are under 80 thousand . Its absolutely imaculate.
I have a 2016 platinum w/ a flowmaster outlaw. Sounds way better than the TRD exhaust.
You can buy an 8 foot bed from the factory and have it installed. Not sure if you can buy 6 1/2 from the factory
Look into the bilstein 6112 for a coilover strut level, I have that on mine and it rides great with a set of 33's falcon wildpeaks ATW tires.
What years are the best toyotas tundras to buy?
You keep trying to make it look like a TRD Pro , so why didn’t you buy a TRD Pro instead of the platinum????
The platinum has a several things the TRD pro does not. Blindspot monitoring, cross traffic alert, better seats, etc.
I love my 2016 double cab Tundra SR5 4x4 , OH ....did I mention it has a factory Transmission cooler 👍
Nice truck I have a 2019 tundra pro .
LOVE MY TUNDRA TRD 4X4 LIMITED.
got a 2020 4x4 sr5 crew max tundra for 22 k with 15,000 miles on it, don't like those running boards, thinking about getting some power ones yeaahhh 🤘🤠🤘
Im 15 but i’m working for when i’m 18 i can buy a tundra which trim do you recommend for a 2018
I live in a rural area and gotta hual water are these good for that
I just test drove a 21 platinum and couldn't believe the power tailback was an added option🤦🏻♂️ the platinum is supposed to have all the bells and whistles already
I’m with you on that my friend. How did you like the truck? You going to purchase?
Icon old man emu stuff tons of options for your money.
ua-cam.com/video/baXIKlRIeK8/v-deo.html&feature=share depends on how wild or mild your willing to go.
Thanks man. Great stuff.
Did you build that truck?
No but have helped put some together similar but that one is running camburg parts. I believe upgraded long travel shocks from kings. Just depends on what you wanted but a good lift with upgrades is going to go a long way on an already capable truck. Good luck!
The gap between the tail gate and bumper allows dirt or gravel to fall through so it doesn't get stuck in there. (Maybe?) LOL
A great truck, but I can’t understand why anyone would have any truck with a 5 1/2 foot box.
I have the crewmax and wish i had bought the dbl cab with the 6,5 foot bed.5.5 is about useless
@@RM....., you are absolutely correct. I would have loved the CrewMax, however, that small bed killed the deal. I went with the Double Cab w/ the 6.5 and absolutely love it!
because the crewmax looks so perfect. That's just my opinion tho, what would you usually put in your bed?
@@jiggymario8161 Being a Truck, for weekends I use mine carrying Lumber, Plywood, Firewood, Bags of Stone, Shingles, Topsoil, 4-Wheeler, and for work hauling Pumps, Motors, Pump Assemblies, Mixers and other assorted industrial pieces of equipment.
Any Crewmax might as well be called a glorified station wagon.
@@jiggymario8161 Oh Mario, what do you put in your box?
I got a 2020 Platinum in Midnight Black. I'm looking into giving it a lift but not sure how tall or which band to go with. Only Thing I've done is slap some Nitto Ridge Grapplers on which makes the truck look better than the stock street tires it comes with. Love the color of yours!
Nice, black looks great too. I like the NRGs. Check out 88rottors YT channel. They lift a lot of Tundras. Mostly putting 3-1 lifts with 35s. I can't decide if I want to go that big...
Just pick up the1794 version. Hard to find them. I had a bidding war on my 2013 Tundra with 60,000 miles. Wife wanted a Dodge, but I said no way 😷😷
Awesome! That’s a great truck.
The Rams are great trucks too. I have one that's 17 years old. Like tundra's also
3:50 vehicles have had foldable mirrors for decades now. even with your old truck you could have folded the mirrors in when you got out.
What’s the difference between platinum and 1794
Good question, maybe I should make a video on this?
The long and short is that the platinum and 1794 are very similar. They are both well appointed with all the bells and whistle‘s etc. Most of the major differences are aesthetics. The interior of the 1794 is a tan leather. Most people seem to either love it or hate it. Also, the 1794 comes with a significant amount of chrome on the exterior especially the front end. Again, most people seem to love the chrome or hate the chrome. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one of these trucks.👍
Would never get a truck with a short bed
What about the 1794 edition pretty much the platinum but with brown interior?
Pretty close. The exterior of the 1794 comes with a lot of chrome. The front end etc. If you like that look it’s an excellent choice. Very close to the same price as a Platinum.
It's a western/ranch theme. Comparable to the Ford F150 King Ranch trim.
Just purchased a 2021 limited today but in the nightshade edition so there’s no chrome to delete 😎
Edit: no chrome on the exterior to delete*
I like my black interior but dump the carpet floor mats. New gen is nicer but I love our v8
Didn't mention the price or did I miss it?
55k
I think the main thing that is holding me back is gas mileage.
The other things that are useful in the gmc have spoiled me but I am still not happy. Lol
I have a 2021 duramax Denali 2500 and it drives like nothing they advertise.
Drives terrible and I’m currently waiting for the 1500 at4 to come in it has the duramax.
I don’t know what to do.
Great video.
Love the exterior look...best possible color for it too...they ruined the exterior look for 2022...
I would have loved the v8 with the ten speed transmission and 3.73 gears.
Nice truck!
A longer bed would have made driving around a parking lot a real pain.
Buy yourself Husky all weather floor mats.
Still no backseat under storage I see...
I bought and sold a 2014 Tundra Trd in year because the ergonomics were horrible. Too bad because I really liked the truck otherwise.
Gun Safe. Sold!!
I’m pretty sure you can buy an 8 foot bed from the factory
I just got a 2021 sr5. this is the 3rd day of owning the truck i found a bunch of problems. Maybe there nothing major but it pisses me off bc its a brand new truck with my hard earn money
The rear of the Headliner where it meets the rear window, looks like they cut the headliner short. Not a clean fit. There is about a half inch gap.
Right side of the front windshield there is a line from top to bottom. Its a glare / defective window
One of the keys they gave me as a chip in the key and it has a had time going into the ignition and starting up the truck, and a hard time taking the key out
When i start the truck up and put it into gear and start driving i hear a clunk every time.
It has the bed linder from the factory. They forgot to spray the two the hooks towards the back of the bed. They left it un painted
On the Front windshield on the outside of the truck, On the drivers side. The seal on the top is starting to come off
I will try to upload pictures
Dang!
Toyota has had years to improve mpg’s, and has failed to do so! Only thing keeping me from replacing my present tundra, for another.
You'll get at a minimum of 500,000,000 miles. Why are you complaining?
@gringo grande I was hoping he was just being sarcastic 🤣
Yep. 2008 TRD 5.7 with 237K. Looks great. Drives like new. Love it! Keeping forever, Lord willing.
I love my 19’ Tundra 1794… I’m keeping it till the wheels fall off!.. 🥰
Me too
@@checkitout2468 .. i know this video was 2 years ago but the TRD dual exhaust and the red rear sway bar went on my Tundra almost immediately after I bought it. Huge 👍… its not too loud, not annoying, just right. 🥰
Lmao at the potato recorder audio layovers
Magnetic Gray
Hi tundra fam!!!!
Trucks are work vehicles not play things or family haulers. That’s what station wagons are for.
ITS OLD TECHNOLOGY SO I PASSED ON THE TUNDRA BECAUSE: VERY POOR GAS MILEAGE - FOR A LIMITED VERY FEW FEATURES - HORRIBLE STEREO - CREW WITH A 5.5 BED IS TOO SHORT - OLD TECHNOLOGY UNDER THE HOOD STARTING WITH A CLUTCH FAN ON THE RADIATOR - LOW PAYLOAD - LOW TOWING AND OVERALL DATED TRUCK THAT I AM SURE WILL LAST 200 300K MILES. I GOT A FEATURE RITCH HEAVY DUTY 2019 CHEVY SILVERADO 6.2 L 4X4 LTZ THAT IS JUST AMAZING. IS RATED AT 22OO PAYLOAD AND 12500 TOWING. JUST NO COMPARISION .................................
I hear what you are saying. I also really like the look of the new Chevy. It’s the reliability that I’m worried about with Chevy,,,
Shot horizontally:)
Going to try a pro, has to be better than 2020 power wagon I just bought, it’s garbage, electronic disaster!
Wow! Thank you for your honesty. I would suggest the TRD pro or get a Platinum throw an extra 6000 at it and make a platinum pro.👍
14mpg. Ouch.
Hey, 38 gallon tank at least lol
My dad jus bought this truck lol
To understand most pick up truck are just driving and not hauling.
BTW tundra front brake rotors Suk....
You must never have had a Tundra! Tundra’s brakes are fantastic, as is the firm cornering and ride.
@@davehudson4607 have 3 tundra's 2006, 2014, 2018. Still own all of them. The front rotors all had issues.
@@aceyorba What kind of issues? I’m getting around 70K+ between servicing brakes.
@@davehudson4607 if you don't have hills or grades in your area.you will be fine. The rotors will warp very easy under any heat. Have gone to slotted, drilled heavy duty rotors on all My Tundras. 70k miles is great on 1 set of original disk pads..
@@aceyorba Good to know. Mine is a 2010, 220K miles, we have plenty of hilly county, but I rarely carry a heavy load. I have only used Toyota original replacement parts once, and I didn’t like them. Long ago, can’t remember what the problem was.
