I'm glad musicians are stored in a sealed box, so we can keep them fresh for a long time.
It's good for acoustics too
Jacques Cousteau clones
They're keepin' it fresh by themselves, I think.
If they're still sealed and in mint condition 30 years from now, they're gonna be worth a fortune!
One Scary Pockets, Funk Edition, New, In Box
It’s so strange to see Elise just singing and not playing all the instruments too. She’s an incredibly talented woman.
or at the very least do the drums xD
@@lalystar4230 Yes, yes, and also wearing shoes. :P
Yeah it's very odd seeing her just be a vocalist for something, but even just in that capacity she shines.
yeah dude
at 0:36 you really see her standing there like 'damn i wanna play something while i wait' hahahha
As a sound engineer, wow. I love whoever mixed this.
credits at 3:18
All the mixes by Scary Pockets are very well sound engineered....you know a lot of work goes on behind the scenes...kudos
Yes its crazily good
Totally agree! Although there is that low end distorted thumb which I think was added as bit of flavor, which wouldn't my pick. But that's also great about different kinds of tastes and flavors!! 😎👍🤘
I think those isolation plexiboxes made a big help with instrument isolation
You know this is amazing when literally the whole video is the "most replayed section"
Underrated comment right here
I don't think I've ever heard a song so perfectly mixed in my life. My god. Every instrument operates exactly its own space in the mix, as clear as if you could see them lined up in front of you on a stage, separate but together. Oh wow.
Could we all love this brilliant engineer for a moment, please! Every single clip of the Pockets is so well recorded and tastefully mixed. Caleb Parker, you rule big time! Thanks for the sugar in my ears, brother!
One word for Parker’s mixes :balance!
Totally - I feel like I learned so much just watching Elise record and then getting introduced to Scary Pockets. It's an elevation, Caleb Parker. Yes well done; thanks for the dedication and gifts of music, all of you.
agree .. awsome stuff
I agree. Very good recording, mixing and mastering.
Although the music still sounds very dull to me, but that's personal taste.
big big thumbs up
Bravo to the cameraman and editor of the video. Rarely can you see such properly shown musician moments. Every accent, every tasty part of the song on each instrument has been shown just at the moment when it is being played.
Real respect.
The pockets are always amazing, and it is a huge mystery why Elise is not a major star already.
She could be if she sold out and sang Max Martin songs like a trashy bimbo, but it seems like she's got other ideas.
She should just be given a couple of preemptive Grammys now. It's going to happen anyways.
Silky, Smokey vocals over a flawless groove. Truly, this is on par with Basie, Horne... Also, very smart pre packaging the band in shipping containers. Just finish the song, slap on a shipping label and off to the next gig!
lol good comment, sir.
Elise really needs more exposure. She is just amazing.
yes and that can happen if we all share the links to her videos on our social media pages, send them to friends and family. That is how she can get exposure.
No. Yes. I mean, everyone that gets noticed and is pulled into mainstream, gets destroyed. Their natural talents are thrown out of the window and replaced with synthetic goo which is the same for all "artists". So, no... I hope she finds other way. Yes, she is amazing :D
maybe go follow her on tiktok
I just can't get enough of Elise. Her vocals just speak to my very soul.
I’m thrown back to the mid 80s. This feels and sounds like smooth jazz with a sprinkling of The Cowboy Junkies. I do like you’re cover and arrangement. Until recently I had no idea how young she is. She shows a sense of confidence and command of herself and performance that belies her age. She impressive.
Wow, the vocals from Elise are simply stunning with this arrangement. Fantastic. Caleb Parker is a master at capturing this kind of performance. What a great team.
he sure is!
I agree 100%... glad someone else realizes!! I'm becoming a big fan of Caleb's work. 🥰 You don't get awesome sound like this from musicians alone, you need a gifted audio engineer. Think Alan Parsons, for example.
@@NorthernKitty, Caleb is a fantastic songwriter himself. He used to have a Patreon page with tons of songs. Sadly, it has been removed. I wish he'd make his catalog available. People who appreciate music value the skill these musicians bring to their work. Cory Wong, Vulfpeck, Scary Pockets, Pomplamoose (Jack & Nat), KNOWER (Louis Cole, Genevieve Artadi), Ryan Lerman, Cody Fry, Kenton Chen... and so on. The list of top-tier musicians these folks have worked with, and cross pollinated, has been an amazing part of the story. Not many are following how connected these people are.
What the internet desperately needs: A Sam Wilkes vs. Joe Dart funky neck bass-off. Then have juliaplaysgroove cover, with davie504 memeing the entire thing.
@@Usul Sandals vs Neck, i like it.
Couldn't agree more! Caleb is so talented and so happy. Vulfpeck, Tom Misch, Nekta, Cory Henry, Snarky Puppy, Kraak & Smaak, Gazzara, Shook, Fez Combo, Yussef Dayes, Modjo, The Bird and The Bee, Jazzanova, Corey Wong, Papik... Well, just to name a few. But my question; what about audio quality? I'm using UA-cam Music; what do you use? Are you streaming at 44.1 or higher (Qobuz, Tidal, Roon, Rasberry Pi, etc.?) or happy with 256/320 mp3's? Thanks!
When you're literally in a glass case of emotion
Sounds great
When the world discovered musicians play 30% funkier when sealed in tanks of helium.
We still haven't fixed the problem of background singing while breathing helium tho
@@jas_bataille that's up to the singer
Nitrous Oxide is more effective I've found
They also play for a lot less time due to oxygen deprivation.
@@EversonBernardes It's like they're all shit scared of catching a virus that their age group would have a 99% survival rate! There's got to be more to their constant virtue signalling!
I will always give Jack Conte an upvote
I swear Elise is one of the coolest musicians out there.
I'm a fan of a Scary Pockets and Major Lazer, but you really had me at Else Truow!
How to destroy someone's name 101 haha

Elise has such a liquid voice!
Poured straight into our hearts.
Which is important coz we staying hydrated out here 👌🏼
A liquid voice? What does that even mean? Even as a metaphor it makes no sense...
She soo gorgeouus
very liquid
she should do some DnB vocals
So glad they let Elise out of her box to sing. Of all Scary Pockets' vocal collaborators, her liquid velvet voice shines at the next level, enhanced her profound musicality and instrumental talent. They must love in when she walks in the door and makes everything better.
I love how bass player always seems to be playing a much more intrincated piece than it actually is.. Guy has commitment.
He's also amazing at adding mind-melting fills, that are easy to miss, but very hard to play in a way that serves the piece. I hope I get to see him live in Europe someday.
@@yannponty2214 I have had the pleasure of seeing Sam Wilkes perform live a few times with KNOWER and Louis Cole. The guy is an absolute treat!
She’s such a phenomenal singer, holy crap.
Do not watch one of her live loops. You will be dead. Have a nice day, don't say I didn't warn you.
@@kohlweydesign I spent my last workday, 12 hours, looping her looping.
This is much more beautiful, relaxing, calming, soothing and likeable to me than the original.
I love this video SO MUCH! I cannot get enough of either Elise's singing or the band's playing. Incomprehensibly beautiful music!
I am FEELING those Team Zissou hats.
Was anyone else waiting to hear the 'All we is someone to lean on' part? It never came and I was disappointed
same. I understand that its their own artistic interpretation, but like...its the name of the song
Maybe the takeaway is you shouldn't depend on anyone else. Take care of yourself homie.
I was wondering about that ,too. Did they do it and edit it? Did they plan not to do it in the first place? The video ends abruptly, a sign of???
I can't seem to get enough of this song. I love the bouncing tone of her voice. pure magic
I was so happy when this song was recently played on the radio, in 2024.
Her voice is so silky smooth. Fits the music great
the fact they are in boxes is going to look like a weird abstract art thing in a couple years
no it's not ... it's just showing how conformists they are ... they don't look as free people
@@bogdy72000 they look like responsible people, this is not conformist as it's not mandated, that is their own precautions they take. maybe over the top for you, but who knows, one of them might be a risk patient?
@@Aanthanur i bet they hung out after the video shooting :D they make a statement sitting in those boxes while the chick in red doesn't ... it can't be more conformist than this
@@bogdy72000 chill out bro
@@Tsuka-bn8hq hahaha
how?!
Finally, my beloved musicians are playing together, again, so I can only thank you all, for having a time to put yourself together
My goodness, what a ride.
I don't know how many times I've already watched this, but I can only imagine the journey has just begun. The engineering and presentation is not of this world.
I love the Steve Zissou / Life Aquatic aesthetic.
Hahah, yes, good eye.
Super under rated comment 10/10 spot on
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquariums
yesss I see whatchu did right there !
Out of all the Jürgens, you are my favourite.
Underrated comment.
Lololololol
I love bad puns 😂
Seeing Elise and Jack in the same room playing music together is crazy.
Why? 👀 What's the tea????
@@manasvisharma4990 No tea really. I just found out three artists I discovered and listened too separately years ago collabed and find that amazing.
Elise Trouw is truly a giant star waiting to happen. Talk about an embarrassment of riches the woman can play every part and very likely better than the musicians hired. Total monster talent and that face, my lord.
Elise’s voice is just soooooo beautiful and warm I can never get enough
Scary Pockets and Elise Trouw : musical heaven !!
Her perfectly clean, even, trebly voice and very neat, trim appearance make her seem like a sci fi character, including with the plastic cubes behind her.
This is the best version of this song imo
Amazing vocalist, incredible musicians and the life aquatic hats. Perfection
I love it when you guys have matching outfits. My favorite are still those shiny red and blue bomber jackets.
Each and every milli second of this rendition is precious. Jack Conti & Elise garnering their very best.
Everything in this video is heavenly , EVERYTHING
the *_red beanie aesthetic_* ... love it
They are usually worn by deep sea divers.

Evocative of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou?
@@elmcityale4641 Yes. The character of Steve Zissou was based on the real life explorer and underwater film maker Commander Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Who was also the co-inventor of the modern aqualung.
Well aware... but Cousteau never carried a glock! :-)
Elise’s voice is effortlessly sublime
I've never actually heard anyone sing the phone book, but if this girl decided to try I'd TOTALLY listen!
I can't get enough of this band. Please keep doing what u do Pockets
She's magical! The whole group is magical!!
Legendary Sam Wilkes on bass!
best fit
I wonder how much band members depreciate the second you take them out of their original packaging
#BeatMeToTheSameConclusion
thank you for that comment, I needed a great laugh today!
Musicians are meant to be played with! Not stored on a shelf!
And remember to keep them in a fridge after opening
@@watherby29 Because if you don't keep them chilled, they'll... _lose their cool?_ 😉
🥶🆒😎
I already forgot that this was during quarantine vs a purely artistic choice
Love that synth.
I've come back every single day so far this week and watch it at least once every day, it is incredible.
Edit: grammer
Love love love loveeeeee this!
I swear, it's always a cool chill session, when Elise is involved. And the resulting track is always a banger!
Thanks Jack and all involved with these great arrangements. You are doing a wonderful thing.
I've been listening to this song on (manual) loop for the past 2 days. Can't get enough of it. Well done guys!
I already liked the original version, but this cover is absolutely stunning. Elise is a perfect choice for vocals. And I don't forget the production team : Great job, guys.
This unique recording of this song by Elise Trouw is the highest form of art. She is Brilliant!
I'd pay good money to see Elise and the Zissou's on tour.
So it was a nod to the life aquatic? Cause that’s the vibe I got.
OMG SAM COMING BACK WITH THE LOW END
The Steve Zissou caps are too perfect! Love the Life Aquatic throwback 😁
Truly amazing. Scary Pockets and Elise is such a rare jem matchup. I just love this version so much
Elise has to hold her hands behind her lest they start playing air drums.
She is a badass artiste...just her singing with her hands behind her back speaks humility for all the talent she has. I love her so much. They should do a music video for this version of Lean On.
She needs to or she will put her hair behind her ear like 500 times per second which distracts from the song
@@DJCornelis I quite like the hair thing 🙂
You guys are a master class in TONE! Holy shit i love the tasteful FX on the voice, the synth bass Sam does on that part, the keyboards!
GREAT vocals! Never heard of her before this and I'm impressed.
PURE EARGASM!
The entire track is out of this world but, why is Sam so damn awesome!!
The sound is absolutely perfect ,just amazing
I could listen to this all day.
Wow what an absolute masterpiece of a creation of a song. Absolutely love this version, the musicians are so good at what they do and Elise is such a masterpiece with her voice.
"Daddy? Why did they put musicians in plastic boxes?"
"Oh dear. No one knows anymore."
@Scary Pockets We diggin that Life Aquatic of Zissou beanies
Shout out to Wes Anderson!
everything about this clip is perfect..the music, the singing...pure bliss
Whoever mixed this did very solid work.
I love everything this talented young lady does.
Stupendous bass by Sam Wilkes!
I KNEW this guy seemed familiar, he's the bassist from Knower!
The crew of the Belafonte has always been musically stunning.
Cant stop playing this!!!!
Beautiful cover! Great that they were able to get all of Steve Zissou's band from The Life Aquatic to play
.....do all the members get glocks?
Every cool band that I discover on youtube has Jack Conte as a member. He's the key to be successful as a band, I guesshahaha
what an unbelievably cool fucking dude.
o cenario, a musica, o arranjo, os artistas... tudo simplesemente perfeito!
This is one of my favorite songs and this is a better rendition by far than the originals.
Been watching Elise's progress for a coupla years at least ,incredibly talented, can play most instruments, a very good voice, and beautiful to boot good luck gal you deserve success.
The groove is unstoppable! :)
Dreamy, moving
"Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls" with her on drums/voice could be so good!
I can't stop coming back to this!
Please collab even more!
It's great to see some of my favorite musicians working together to make something greater than the sum of its parts, especially in the midst of a global crisis.
Absolutely amazing. Well done Scary Pockets & Elise Trouw.
Brilliant. Cascading waves of talent.
This is a real superior master piece
This is another level.
Love the bassist!!!! Love how you all enjoy playing and of course Im fan of Scary Pockets
Oh! Im singer too from Oaxaca México!
Nossa, que classe!!! Ficou sensacional! - Wow, what a class !!! It was sensational!
my favorite song right now. i love the sound of this. the music was perfect, her voice... never off.
Utterly baffled…how’d this not change the earths orbit around the sun?
The QUEEN is back!!!!!
This arrangement is insane!!! Caleb Parkers mixes are🔥🔥
I like the sound of the bass, and the Synth, sounds great, in general the song, the singers and all the musician are perfect.
