A lot of arm chair quarterbacks here. Thanks for the video. It cleared up a few things about what other parts you may need besides the struts only.

I been battling where to put the end of the upper coil spring end. Thanks for pointing out "the mark" where the upper spring pigtail, I don't have to use my common sense. Thank you Sir!

    Just installed new duralast
Quick struts on my 04 Pontiac vibe and on one of them the top portion (maybe the roller bearing cover???) spins freely after install. On the other side, I can get it to move but not nearly as much. On my old struts they don’t move at all. On my other car that’s basically the same car (04 Toyota matrix) neither of them move whatsoever. Now wondering if I got a defective pair. Not sure I want to replace them with more duralast. Not much luck with customer service.

See several comments about using an impact on the compressor. There are allot of springs out there that you won't be able to compress enough with a wrench or ratchet and if you try you'll encounter problems with holding the spring without damaging it or putting a dangerous torque action to the compressor and spring which can twist the tool off the spring. Tool manufacturer avoids liability of some goober running one too far with an impact while to opposite side is much looser and the spring blowing out after bowing by saying don't use an impact. It's actually safer to use it as long as you do it correctly. With that said, buy the complete strut replacement and avoid the danger.

Buy the assembled struts saving time. These are made for the DIY person so they don't have to compress the spring.

Is a "MacPherson Strut Spring Compressor" the same as just a strut spring compressor? I notice that the ones marked as "MacPherson" have those safety pegs, where a lot of them do not. Are they interchangeable?

Hey! I was the 8000th subscriber! Do I win a prize? I'd settle for competent staff at my local autozone. They repeatedly sell me the wrong parts and otherwise dick me around.

I am doing front end work for a buddy of mine. 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Front struts are bad. Can I just change the strut and not the whole strut and spring ensemble?

Gabriel struts come with a spacer washer. Does this go on top of the strut rod when you assemble the strut?

Guy never mentions what to do when you can't get that Top Shaft Nut loose! That's what happened to me. Here's what you should do if that happens to you. Common sense will tell you to just grab a hold of the shaft with some large pliers, but...the shaft is so hard that your pliers won't bite into the shaft and once you put pressure on the nut, the shaft will spin within the pliers jaws. SO...grab your handy die grinder tool. Wiggle is into the gap between the coils of the spring and make a "flat spot" on the shaft...then spin the shaft 180 degrees and do it on that side of the shaft. Now you have something to grab onto. I made the flat spots just the right size so that I could fit a 13/16 wrench on the shaft. Apply pressure to the "stuck nut" and now that the shaft is locked in place, you should be able to break the nut loose.

Loosen the center nut BEFORE you loosen the mounting nuts.
