France have been so dogshit this Euros. I get that their talents are seemingly endless, but holy fuck, they are just like England to me, their group was harder, but still. that's what you think when you look at results only. Once you look further into the stats you'd know that France is actually doing really well at everything except scoring their chances. They should've had 4 more goals and should have won the group by a mile. They have the quality in players to sort out this discrepency between expected and actual results. If they do they're gonna be the same team we saw in the last 2 world cups. Plus obviously Mbappe only played half the minutes so far
i feel like people just see the results but don’t actually watch the football. if you’ve watched any france game so far this tournament then you’ve seen a team consistently dominate and create chances only to not convert them. this is a fixable issue and if any team can fix the issue, it’s france with how much quality they have in attack. it isn’t like england where they score once (or don’t) and fucking sit back like they’re playing prime barca.

The bracket is brutal. Germany and Spain have been the best teams so far, but match up in the Quarters and then presumably play France, while England limp-wrist their way to the Final. I'm definitely going for Oranje to beat Austria and engerland, so at least we have a decent Final.

The thing about England is we are amazing defensively. You can win a tournament by being the best defensive side. Ask Italy. We might just Southgate our way to a title and then realise that we still aren't happy because we were shit in every game.

As a Dutch person myself, both Austria and Switzerland have been better our side of the bracket, Spain has been better than anyone everywhere. We lack a top midfield this tournament, and our right side leaves gaping holes whoever we put there, and our opponents know this. We have not a chance in hell.

To be fair, I'm English and I too would find it a laugh riot if we lost.
As a frenchman, even if we manage to make it through Belgium in the R16, I have a very hard time seeing France moving past Portugal in a potential QF matchup. While our defence is decent, our attack has been dismal this tournament. Griezmann's not feeling it, Thuram and Camavinga are very underwhelming with the national team, Deschamps is doing all kinds of weird experiments with our attack, he's hellbent on lining up anyone but Giroud as a striker. We'd need to figure out a way to make Giroud, Mbappe and Barcola work together in the attack somehow. Or else it would only take a lil bit of magic from CR7, Leao or Bernardo Silva to knock us out, even with a strong defense.
tbf, I think a lot of England fans would be happy if England lost too. Because the nightmare scenario is that England fluke their way to a final or semi final and Southgate will get another contract.

Hmmm. I have to disagree with your assessment on England's lucky draw and route to the final. I think they have been struggling precisely because they are playing low rank teams and that they'd do better in the other half of the draw... From what we've seen so far I don't think we'll get the best of them until they are really tested and up against it and that they are most vulnerable to losing 1-0 against 'lesser' opposition. I hope I'm wrong though!

I think several of these and upcoming 1/4, 1/2, and Final matchups are not so dependent on who's better on paper but how do the playing styles match up against each other. So, for example, I think Spain will be a huge Problem for Germany. Germany would match up against France a lot better than against Spain. I also think that Austria would be a bad matchup for Germany. And England...well...if they face an opponent who knows how to get goals they are done.

I might be biased as a Spaniard, but I just don't see Mittelstädt and Rüdiger, with the way they played so far, to be able to handle Williams/Lamal.
They were a swiss cheese against Hungary only saved by Neuer and their later game control through their midfield.
I agree they will be able to handle Denmark, but also, that pressing Denmark did against England that made England look so uncomfortable might work.
I overall think Germany is able to hide some of their weaknesses behind a good midfield, but their back 4 looks abysmal.
