BEST Wargaming subscription - Battle Box

- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- I've always enjoyed the occasional monthly wargaming box, but with the disappearance of Model Box and Asset Drop there is definitely a gap in the market. This week we have a look at The Battle Box and see what value this one has to offer to our hobby.

I think if this were to become a regular thing, a segment where you make use of some/all of the bits in the box would be really neat. Like I was really hoping to see what the ground texture and water texture came out like, whether the glue was quick drying, and if Claire's chads were truly chadly. I'm sure I could now search all these things up, but I'm not gonna.
Honestly that was my intention too! I intended to go and make some b roll showing it all off for you all. But then it’s just massively time consuming and I didn’t know how much anyone would enjoy this video. Next time I will 100% bare that in mind!
I backed them on the initial wave and have stayed subscribed. Great lads and to be honest, £30 a month for a box of random goodies, which are always good, I’m very happy with it. And also, just as a heads up…it’s Claire’s chaos creations 😉 and she’s great too!
@@WatchItPaintIt at the point your forcing yourself to use random things, it could start to feel too much like work. just enjoy your hobby and thank you for sharing with like minded people.
since she has been able to, I give my daughter stickers and let her decorate the back of my phone cases. she loves it. I get a custom phone case made with love. cant beat it.
Awwwh. That’s a lovely use
Thanks for posting, miss Asset Drop a ton. For the stickers; (learned from my son) water bottles and laptop cases are great places to put them.
I miss it and Model Box too. I guess it’s a hard business to sustain :-( thanks for the idea, my water bottles are a great suggestion!
I’m surprised and happy this exists. I will be surprised and happy if it continues to exist. Personally I would be happy to receive it, but surprised if I signed up for it.
i have a entire Japanese bolt action army that needs to be based.
getting 95% of what i need then having to run out and buy glue would suck.
i feel like the glue is a needed addition.
Really surprised you’ve never come across Geek Gaming Scenics and the person behind them before! They do have a UA-cam channel, which was formerly Luke’s APS, a decent sized channel in war gaming community. Sadly, their last video (3 months ago) was Luke saying he’d no longer be doing vids anymore, which was a huge shame. But he’s always specialised in scenery, and his products are ones he’s developed himself (to the best of my knowledge), so they aren’t just generic glues etc, they are ones he’s created specifically for hobbyists.
While I was editing the video I realised all this! And the name change from Luke’s APS. He seems a really nice bloke and I saw his last video too :-( I’m really interested in why he quit! Be nice to chat to him some day. He’s from Yorkshire too and probably only a few miles from me!
@@WatchItPaintIt pretty sure he’s based in Wakefield, but don’t quote me on that 🤣 Everyone knows the best things are in Yorkshire though, it’s the centre of the universe haha!!! Yeah I always enjoyed his vids, and I hope his products are selling well (they’re available in Travelling Man in Leeds and York if you’re in Yorkshire, and I’m pretty certain that Mirfield Miniatures had some in on my one visit to that little gem of a shop!!!).
I like seeing you take things out of boxes
Hahah. That made me laugh
@@WatchItPaintIt hehe it was a reference to the comment you asked us to make when you started stepping in front of the camera. You showed a screenshot typing a comment about liking that you had a face. A comment I then wrote in that video as I found it equally funny.
Oh man, I miss Asset Drop so much! 😩
Me too :-( really nice people too
@@WatchItPaintIt Absolutely! Many a funny and enjoyable email exchange with Gemma
looks promising , will keep eye on this one
Yeah I enjoyed that, could be a nice treat once in a while or a birthday gift
I use a tonne of the Geek Gaming stuff, that basing glue is ace. That's a good box!
Oh really? £6 for some glue seems pricey. But I’m more than happy to eat my words when I try it. Love being pleasantly surprised
Mmm this could be a good present for my wife for Christmas
We both love mini painting
Also it was clairs chaos creations lol 😅
You nailed it. I didn’t mention it in the video but I thought it after. This is a really good present. Like when you’re not sure what to get them… because it doesn’t really matter. But a nice surprise in the hobby you like! Also you won’t know what it is either, so it’s a surprise for both :-)
Am i missing something? This doesnt seem to be amazing value. For £31 i can do as well or better if i shop around myself, and get what i actually want with no risk of getting items id never use. Thanks for the unboxing though 👍
No you’re not missing anything at all. It’s kinda like giving someone £30 and saying “surprise me”. You’re paying for the excitement and in this case an extra 30% value, BUT 30% more of something you didn’t want isn’t always good is it :-D
Claires Chaos Creations ?
That…. that makes a lot more sense
I also got Chad creations, and I'm okay with it
Yeah, no thanks. I wish this company all the best of luck, but this is NOT a product for me. I can get the same products, except the five fluffy tufts for about 39 GBP + shipping. I'm not interested in paying the same or more for a mystery box that MAYBE contains something I can use. I get that the excitement has some value, but when the price is this close to regular retail I fail to see the point. Adding to that, it costs 60GBP per month for me as a EU citizen, yikes! I would feel properly ripped off if I received this box for that amount of money.
I'm not trying to put anyone down here, and I genuinely wish everyone the best whether you're buying or selling this subscription. I just want to provide my feedback and not sugarcoat it.
I think unfortunately you are completely correct once you’re outside the UK. That postage price just destroys this concept :-( You’re not the only person in the EU to mention this and I’m shocked but not surprised with the cost of the postage - if I knew that while making the video I would have said something about it being very likely not a product anyone outside the UK would be comfortable trying. Thanks for leaving the comment! Totally agree with you

My face and a box. What more could people want!
It says their website certificate has expired. Are they still in business? Or is there another website?
I actually haven’t heard from them since this video! I suspect it might be another subscription box to bite the dust. Shame, I do enjoy these things while they last!
It's not Claire's chad, I think it's Claire's Chaos, but in a really hard to read font :)
I think you’re right! Good eyes!
Idea: create something only using the stuff in the box.
Love this idea. I was going to do it for the video just ran out of time :,(
Eeee, bummer that I'm in the US of A cause I would get all up in that foreign box
That’s a real shame :-( I bet you’d leave Battle Box very satisfied
It’s good glue…..👍
Excitement intensifies
So they don't ship to the US at all right now :( (unless I'm missing it) So I would be interested, but $40/mo. is a bit expensive to also have to pay (~$10 import fee + shipping?) is a bit much. But would be interested in a service like this for US
Sorry :-( yeah that would be really steep! Do you have anything like this in the US at all?
@@WatchItPaintIt not that I'm aware of.
Nothing like this in the US, and I've been looking for a while.
I like it! Is there a US alternative?
I think there is an option or two last time I looked! But it’s been a while :(
I can't see to find anything. Looks like there was one back in 2016 but it is no more. It also looks like BattleBox UK doesn't ship to the US@@WatchItPaintIt
@@Madoc439 no sadly they don’t ship, even in Europe the postage is so high makes the thing very hard to justify. I’d call this a UK only product unfortunately. I’ll keep my eye out for a US one. Sounds like a gap in the market but seeing two UK ones come and go, I think it’s not a very sustainable business :-( Loot Crate died too didn’t it?
The geek gaming glue is not like pva glue. Its much more of a rubbery tacky glue. If you ever got a print magazine that had some kind of freebie in it. Were it is stuck on with a really sticky stretchy glue. It is a lot like that. So it has come flexibility to it and is not as brittle as pva and holds onto larger things like stones much better. Just make sure to use a thick layer of glue so everything has something to sink into.
Lots of people have commented on that glue being really good. I’m even more excited to try it now!
Cool and useful basing kit.
Absolutely, always love increasing my basing materials. Anything you’d recommend?
@@WatchItPaintIt Yesterday I shared something special, I would like to know what you think about it. Could you write it in a comment?
*Chaos Creations 😉
:-D oops
