I find it interesting that the previous owner's surname was written in Hiragana, rather than in Kanji. What's even more interesting is that there's no data on the surname... Anyway, super glue is one big pile of nasty when it comes to removal. Emily is super kyuute. :)
I've seen you do game boy repairs dozens of times. It never gets old, there's something really satisfying in watching you do these repairs. Keep up the good work.
I absolutely loved that you incorporated Emily and this looked like an easy way to introduce someone who is new to getting comfortable tinkering with Game Boys. Keep up the amazing work you two
Ha, I do this with my missus "Would you like to learn how to repair a PC?" - "Yes I would" - "Cool, you unscrew all them screws, I'm off for a lie down".
Can't say how sympathic you are. Watching your Videos is like some kind of Yoga to me. Thanks for your great videos. Go on without a Change! Greatings from Germany.
A little tip with getting the polarising filter on perfect is to cut it slightly bigger, stick it on, then trim off the edges with a sharp Stanley knife
Very good video! I enjoyed this video as a Japanese. Hirasawa is a popular name in japan. hahaha... Many kids wrote his name on gameboy cartridge when i was a child. I am very glad to see that the gameboy goes UK from Japan. Long long journey. :-)
In Japan only. They always had the best stuff like the backlit Gameboy Pocket. There are also reproduction shells from China in those colors. I got one and it's not bad. Of course the original is better quality.
Blimy brings back memories, I had a smoking robot in the 80s got one for xmas or birthday, used to say stuff when you pressed red button on the head and small puffs of smoke came from its mouth thing, no idea what happened to it and where it went.
me personally I like to keep the stickers and all. it gives the Gameboy personality instead of a plain collection device. At some point I'd like to artfully reproduce each sticker on the Gameboys themselves
hey i just got a silver gameboy pocket and it seems very well tooken care of but the battery slots seem corroded and wont turn on properly does anyone have a suggestion video on how to clean these properly. Thanks for reading have a good day.
Yoooo uh could u help me with my psp cause like im only 16 and dont know hoe to do dis stuff So basically whenever i hit a bump on deh road my psp will take me to the screen where it says do you want to quit the game and sumetimes i cant even play the game because itll spam it idk wat to do plz halp
I'm seeing this 7months after the post date so I have a question: do you use any hydrogen peroxide to bleach your old consoles or you just keep them yellowed?
It's amazing how much the cost of these little guys has exploded between then and now. These days you can't even buy a parts Gameboy pocket for less then 30 bucks
I removed the polarized filter of my GBC and it stills with a burned mark in the center, even with a new one the center of the screen did not work, so is it broken?
Watching on my phone so I can’t really make it out but it looks like the name is ひらさわ which would roughly sound like Hirasawa (or Hilasawa since there’s not a real difference with the pronunciation of those sounds in Japanese)
I was close to buying that exact same console on J4U but was put off by the permanent marker on it. Would have found the switch a bugger to replace also but that wasn't detailed in the description!
I love finding games and consoles that are a couple dollars cheaper just because there is a big name written on it with permanent marker. As long as it's not on the labels you can usually make 90-100% of it go away with IPA. If it's on the sticker you risk removing the ink too so that's more risky.
It's just a big sheet of polarizing film. You can get smaller sheets specifically for gameboys on Ebay. Eliot does so many refurbs that it's probably cheaper for him to cut his own out of a big sheet.
Hey man, Why not get Emily to restore a Game Boy from start to finish and maybe give pointers as she does it and not take over? It could be really useful for people that want to try this themselves, and maybe have a long and short version so if someone wants to see the whole process. Cheers
When I replaced my front polarizer film the screen had more of a green tint to it. I am using a white backlight and it is still sort of green. I am wondering if there is a color filter or something under that first polarizer film. When I removed the burnt one I noticed that it ripped off a very thin second layer. Is this normal do you know? Still loving the let's refurb videos!
On the REAL you do so many GOOD things, in many ways for history for the gamboy’s which would end up in a landfill if wasn’t for you, and for people to learn and gain knowledge who have a passion for gaming and or fixing and working in these things and who live gaming or Mybe are poor less fortunate so get a broken and or best uo used one which they fix thru time or Mybe have a hard time fixing and working on it, guess what I am saying is you do and have done some many pausitive things not just preserveing history and classics thanks man, and F THE HATERS!!!!!!!
Really nice job on this one! I learned some new things about the screens on those. Turned out great!
Thanks man!
Take a shot every time they mention "Isopropyl alcohol"
that cant be healthy xd
A shot of isopropyl alcohol ?
@@indask8 welp...I mean if you're into that
I died 2 months ago doing this

Probably the previous owner wrote his/her name when was a kid, i did the same with a GBA on that time
I've seen you do game boy repairs dozens of times. It never gets old, there's something really satisfying in watching you do these repairs. Keep up the good work.
I was half expecting Emily to say, in mock irritation, "Is this my make up brush?" or "I wondered where this make up brush went!".
Go thicc hocobo
Go thicc Choco Bo
Gothic chocobo
She was using Elliott's make up brush.
I absolutely loved that you incorporated Emily and this looked like an easy way to introduce someone who is new to getting comfortable tinkering with Game Boys. Keep up the amazing work you two
9:29 we finally have evidence that Emily is alright with her makeup brush being used thusly
Surprise revelation ... it was actually Elliot's makeup brush all along!!!
Watching him cleaning and repairing the screens gives me new life
No, it all gives me new life. It’s all beautiful. Why doesn’t this channel have several million subscribers?
I love watching these repair videos. Almost has an asmr affect on me.
Looks like new ! Great job 👍
Good bye ひらさわ君(Hirasawa kun).
I got Hichiimi or ひちいみ
But I think you right
ah yes, my favorite ghibli movie lol
@wargent99 well, since the name was written in hiragana, i'd assume the person writing it was a kid back then
Ha, I do this with my missus "Would you like to learn how to repair a PC?" - "Yes I would" - "Cool, you unscrew all them screws, I'm off for a lie down".
You made me laugh.
Nice restoration, good job :-)
Thanks Vince!
Are you the one who helped Theretrofuture work on a switch??
adhesivetape _ he is yeah
Just think of all the Gameboys Elliot has saved over the years, that would just end up in landfill if it weren't for him! Amazing job!
Can't say how sympathic you are. Watching your Videos is like some kind of Yoga to me. Thanks for your great videos. Go on without a Change! Greatings from Germany.

Great work, greater couple! Thanks for all the effort you do to make this channel awesome!
"...I'm gonna let Emily do that and see how she gets on. Let's crack on."
(Emily pulls out hammer)
that made me laugh
I've been waiting for this one!
You can really tell someone loved this at one point
I love this channel! My fav to be exact. Keep up the good work Elliott!
Tip: put WD40 when pulling the filter, it eats the glue and it's so much easier to remove
1 hour squad keep it up Eliot!!!😉👍
Elliot you should do a mini series where you repair your fans’ handheld consoles! I’d love to see you interact even more with the fans like this!
Robbie Fielding-Lennon I’ve got a game Gear I’d like him to work on 😬
He'd get too many
Brandon Y he could manage it in a giveaway like fashion where people apply and random names are chosen
I had no idea a Gameboy Pocket was made in the same color scheme as the original brick. That's wicked awesome!!
In Japan only. They always had the best stuff like the backlit Gameboy Pocket. There are also reproduction shells from China in those colors. I got one and it's not bad. Of course the original is better quality.
So emily and you did that together? That is really romantic and she did actually very good! Cheers from italy
Awh thanks! Yeah we did.
So satisfying love the channel and the fb group such a chill community of people
Where do you buy your consoles
So happy for a new video
Where can I buy that polarizer film you use, could someone please link it?
That's the most efficient cleaning I've
ever seen
Ps: you guys are a lovely couple UwU
i can see emily getting hooked and making a channel the modern past
Hello, I have an original gameboy advance and the speaker is extremely quiet is there any particular reason for this.
Bombjack. That was one of my favourite spectrum games. Well done to you both.
What screwdriver set was that you used?
What soap do you use to wash the pieces
What did you use to adhere the new polarising film to the screen lens?
What type of polarizing film did you use? Do you have a link?
Any chance i can get a link for the sticky backed polarizer film cant seem to locate it
Greetings from Colombia. Very impressive the way you guys fix that dirty gameboy 👍👍👍
I really like these videos and it was quite sweet seeing Emily doing this and you supporting her. Nice challenge for Valentine's Day?
Blimy brings back memories, I had a smoking robot in the 80s got one for xmas or birthday, used to say stuff when you pressed red button on the head and small puffs of smoke came from its mouth thing, no idea what happened to it and where it went.
Couple goals
hey sorry if i am late, what spray do you use to clean?
me personally I like to keep the stickers and all. it gives the Gameboy personality instead of a plain collection device. At some point I'd like to artfully reproduce each sticker on the Gameboys themselves
Man i have a sega naomi no working do you think can fix ir ?
Yes! A classic DMG style!
hey i just got a silver gameboy pocket and it seems very well tooken care of but the battery slots seem corroded and wont turn on properly does anyone have a suggestion video on how to clean these properly. Thanks for reading have a good day.
Acetone (nail polish remover) takes off sharpie like a dream
do you have a gb boy colour? could you please check if that gbc flashcard works with it? I've been thinking about buying it but I'm not sure
Is it for sale? Or one similar in og color scheme?
What is the spray you were using to clean the sticker? I could use some of that!
Whats that for a polorizer?
Can I use the game boy pocket polarizer film on a Gameboy color?
What does he do with all these ones he repairs, resell them?
How do the screens burn!?
Another great video, hey Elliot I have 6 more days until my walkman gets here, hopefully everything goes well and I can repair it thanks to your vid!
What are you spraying at 10:41?
I think it's Mr Sheen. An all purpose cleaner.
Where do you buy gameboys?
Love this! Am I the only one who thinks Emily kinda looks like Sansa Stark/Sophie Turner?
Really cool! how did you remove the Japanese writing?
How much do you normally sell them for after you repair them
Yoooo uh could u help me with my psp cause like im only 16 and dont know hoe to do dis stuff

Front and or back?
the sticker for the buttons is so cool! anyone have a link to them?
Have you ever tried retro brighting the pocket at all? Looks like some of the stickers preserved the original color underneath them.
I think it's because he wanted this to be a simple repair with his girlfriend I'm fairly certain he'll retrobright it in his own time
Watching on my phone so I can’t really make it out but it looks like the name is ひらさわ which would roughly sound like Hirasawa (or Hilasawa since there’s not a real difference with the pronunciation of those sounds in Japanese)
Ryan Jacques - except in Japanese there is no “la” sound.
@@OkiDingo there isn't a "ra" either, japanese r is weird
What would be the best soldering kit for me cause I'm just getting into handheld or console repairing/refurbishing
Guess she can’t complain about you using her brush anymore LOL I guess it’s now officially the electronics cleaning brush
*FINALLY* someone is going to make a video about the Chinese EverDrive clone. 😁
What game was that you were playing at the end?
Mighty Bomb Jack
That gameboy pocket looks like it took a drug trip.
How’s the leg?
what was that spray
You should be really grateful for Emily, not many girls would enjoy repairing a GameBoy with you !

We need a channel or a weekly video from Emily 😂
glad ur getting better at bomb jak
What is that material you used for polarizing filter? Where can I get one?
It's just a big sheet of polarizing film. You can get smaller sheets specifically for gameboys on Ebay. Eliot does so many refurbs that it's probably cheaper for him to cut his own out of a big sheet.

At least it’s nice to know this was a kids gameboy..
This is so adorable!!!
Eliot why did you remove the Pokémon A B button sticker that was really cool

Nice video. ^^
Can I ask for a link to your ebay store, please?
Where’s Emily links?
Ahhh I used to have a smoking Robot! that noise took me back!....... For better or worse!
Isn’t that a 90s game boy??
Alright for the brother sister duo, wish my sister had time for me to show her how to repair some of her old electronics instead of junking them.
You should do a gameboy macro after the challenge 👍
great job, i love your videos
You should have left the name on the front, that was cool
Team work nice work ☺
I started collecting when I was 10 now I'm 11 yeah I'm a 11 year old collector
Leave the plastic shell out in the sunshine for a day or two to whiten it.
