In Japan, anything not in mint condition is considered scrap heap and is sold as such.

I just scored a boxed GB Pocket for $53 on eBay with a couple complete games for $13.
and Thats why asian parents doesn't remove any screen protectors/plastic that come with any electronics.
Yeah, I've won various DS family systems from Japan for $7.50 each, shipping and all.
I like how he was disappointed when he didn't find anything immediately wrong with it.

Japanese collectors tend to go for the most prestine items. So there are deals to be had here in Japan if you are a refurbing crazy like us.🔥

I often buy used anime merchandise from Japan and have come to learn that used products in Japan are more often than not still in near mint condition.
Envytastic people usually take good care of there stuff in Japan, or the stores have standards. But you still gotta watch out!

Still you're correct in that I've seen Chinese sellers trying to sell bootleg figures on Japan's Yahoo auctions. Thanks though, for looking out for a stranger :)
I can back this up. Bought a GBC off of Ebay from Japan and it works like a charm.

Just as a heads up, I don't buy from Ebay but with a proxy from Rakuten.
when translating japanese you need to do the whole text, not parts as it can mean different things if you do parts of it. Highlight the whole phrase next time
If the speaker has lower volume than usual, you can replace the electrolytic capacitors around the speaker (the tall cylindrical ones).
You should take a pic of any foreign writing and put it on twitter so they can translate it

there is someone on youtube too that fix retro consoles, and he using the mix of hidrogen peroxide with something and take it on uv box to bring back the original color, maybe that will help you to fix the bleached color...

Japan has high standards. I've gotten huge discounts on the basis of a single deep scratch. Going around second hand stores is a dream in Japan and if you visit frequently you can get some great soups that are worth at least twice when you get back overseas.

The only way to restore the color on the case is to repaint it. To get the right color match look at the inside.

If you get some Clairol Professional Pure White 20-30, rub it on the discolored areas with a q-tip, and then use cling flim to keep it moist, after a day or three in the sun it should look much better but try at your own risk it's just what's worked for me!

@@TheRetroFuture Not on this exact model but on other similar pink vintage electronics (like tamagotchis, keyboard) it's worked for me! Like I said though, I don't want you to ruin this gorgeous thing after you got it running smoothly so don't risk it if you think it'll ruin it! Btw beautiful find and love your videos ❤

Have the same Gameboy though mine has become a more salmon color rather than bright pink as it was originally.

Hey you know what would be cool? A Walkman DD or am f5 cracked gear repair. There so weird yet fun to repair. And you could help alot of people repair there DD walkmans as there's not many videos of it and the ones I've seen are not in English. I repaired my DD3 recently and I have to say it seems hard but isnt if you follow the steps. Oh also you should make a discord. I bet alot of people would join it.

Nice repair! Quick question, hopefully you can help. I put together a Game Boy Macro from a broken DS lite and reused one of the DS' speakers. It sounds really quiet and I think it's because of it's size. Can i swap it out for a bigger speaker from a Original Gameboy? Thanks and love the vids! -Jay

i think its silicon and not rubber. since rubber dosnt conduct electricity well and silicon dose and is used in many products like keycaps and buttons

You tried lightbriting (not retrobrighting) any plastics yet? I'm interested to see if it works.

You could try to do some Retrobrite , just look up 8-bit-keys retrobrite, to fix the faded color.
He explained why he can't retrobrite it, as it will just turn it yellow.
