You kidding me?? im literally watching the Pirates of the Carribean and i get a message that PAD uploaded a new video of a shipwrecked ring! The ring turned out amazing/delicious! really great job, i always enjoy your videos.
DarkArachnid Amazing!!! Couldn't ask for a more perfect time!!!! Perfect weather, perfect guests, Amazing D.J., and the photos will be monumental!!! Patrick's ring were center stage, and will continue to be!!!! Thank you so much for asking!!
When I come up with a knife design it's amazing to then hold it in your hand. Like you said, it's VERY rewarding to have an idea in your head come to fruition. Great job!
About to preorder this ring. From pirates of the Caribbean to my love for diving.. This is my perfect gift. This is truly a masterpiece you’ve created!
Lovely finish. I've only ever suspended the ring in the ammonia bath by thread and use copper pipe supported by dowel when hammering. Love the end result
I love the ring but I've seen that kind of thing happen with copper and brass and it wasn't nowhere near a beach right out in the woods the salt in the ground does the same thing beautiful great job keep up the great work take care and God bless
If the time is mostly in waiting for oxidation, you could always try to run a batch of these. You hammer the surface, so you could take a bar for say seven rings, put your bevels in and have a small powered space so you can cut the rings out without ruining your finish. Hammer away, sand away, doing the faces as the ring before them is completed and removed from the bar, and then batch oxidize. If two of the seven come out right, you can clean the other five and then put them right back in.
You should try to carve a 1960's bioshock-like design in the this style of ring. I'd abseolutely buy it!!! Also, if you put this on your website you should name it, "The Subma-Ring"
I bought this ring for 300 on preorder. Dakota wymer is a friend/coworker of mine and he told me he knows you from home. I love my ring, keep up the good work.
This is probably my favorite ring you have made. Nice job! It would be awesome if you made a ring made with sand, sea glass and/or a sea shell of some sort. 😀 edit: You should add glow powder too so it looks like plankton at night.
Love the ring! I've worked with copper sheets before, and accelerated the verdigris patina, I spread ash (any type will do)and lightly moisten with a sprayer, let sit in the sun for a full day, gently wipe clean, then use vinegar vapor. The final result is more green than what you ended up with, but move vivid and doesn't wipe off easily.
Hi Patrick, again another video as you always upload & this time a video again about making something simple & still you haven't demonstrated how you label your rings from the inside? I appreciate if you can show that as we already know this part. You always mention that you try to read the comments but I have mentioned about this in every video & you have never responded on that. Can you please do that, thank you!
I want that one to bro i dnt care if it takes 3-4 months of creation but i have to have this piece. This looks like straight out of the pirates of the Caribbean movie!!!!
A friend of mine used one of those ammonia capsule on me when camping in the morning. On the video i go straight from mid snore to wtf in like 2 seconds. Unique experience.
Perhaps you could design one with and include a band of coral somehow? Don't know how well coral would machine, but just an idea to tie in another element of the sea as well as some awesome color.
I love that texture way better than the obsidian finish. And the vintage look is great would love to see one with maybe wooden rings on the edge and a resin layer in the middle filled with tiny clock springs. "I will try and add a picture of my inspiration for this if I can" sent the images through Facebook messenger on your page. Peter brown a youtuber who works in resin casting was my inspiration on this ring. I feel it only fair to give credit where due.
That's awesome! You could also place a piece of string through the ring an have the string tied around the box so the ring is elevated with no direct contact!
Unfortunately I can't afford to pre-order it right now, but once I'm a bit more squared away financially I would be willing to even pay full price for it. But just know there is another person interested in them, even though I'm not pre-ordering.
man every time I look at one of your videos it inspires me to keep moving forward with all my projects. I see this is a rather old vid from the 18s but I am hoping you still review the comments. I have decided to make Rings as my main line of stuff this is coming to be my new nitch in life. I started off making slab tables now to rings, wow go figure.
I just wanted to say Congrats to you man. I've been watching your videos for a while and I'm glad to see your business grow so much. Keep up the good work.
Fantastic design. I was wondering what sort of lacquer you're using at the end to prevent the blue and green oxidation from rubbing off again with wear.
I saw in a video in another channel that the artist used a uv activated clear coat on his copper rings. It would look great, and would probably be thin enough to work into the inner band and around the tapered edges, without bleeding over onto the oxidized surfaces of the outer band. It cures hard as a construction hard hat and polishes up really nice for a smoother durable inner band, which would keep it comfortable to wear without green staining on the finger. I bet you could even use it on the outer band and use a sand blast or a low grit sand paper to keep it from being shiny on the outside of the band, to keep the rustic look from the oxidizing process, while likewise protecting against sweat copper staining of adjacent fingers.
I've used renaissance wax buffed onto the metal to seal patina, tried ammonia and salt, stazon ink pads and other alcohol inks (like sharpies) and they all sealed great with wax.
I'm a bladesmith, and I think I'm gonna be doing some oxidized copper fittings on my next blade after watching this video!!! Great work man.
Wait people still make swords? that's cool
@@mekniwassime2098 yeah a machine can't make a very nice $300 kitchen knife
How did it go?
Spit Fire yeah it’s gaining popularity again. There are thousands and thousands of blacksmiths and blade makers

Hey Patrick - what coat did you use for protection? Some sort of clear lacquer?
sick looking ring!!
Thank you for the video.
What is spray lacquer do you use for your rings?
I've used renaissance wax buffed onto the metal to seal patina, tried ammonia and salt, stazon ink pads and other alcohol inks (like sharpies) and they all sealed great with wax.
