  • Turning a copper pipe into a ring? It's possible. Follow the video to learn how to recycle old materials and turn them into something amazing.
    Want to learn more about making jewelery? I recommend this book found on amazon: amzn.to/2vOeXyB It really helped me with technique and learning how to manipulate the metal!

    don't file work on a ring mandrel as it will mar the tool. These scratches will get transferred to later work. Put the ring in a ring holder and brace it against the bench pin when filing.

    Can I ask why you didn't just cut a band from the ring and just use that rather that flattening and reshaping it, or is it purely due to the diameter of the pipe?

    if you heat up the metal and then brush with a wire brush WHILE hot it'll go by a lot faster, get the scale off. also copper can be worked hot or cold and if you anneal it, some of the black will come off from quenching too.

    • @garymyers6638
      @garymyers6638 2 роки тому +1

      If you heat it up and quench it, the structure will move better and the quenching removes most of the crud for you.

    You already had a ring when it was a pipe. I don’t get the cutting it open and then brazing it back.

      Ultrasonic cleaners often just have soapy water in them and use sound waves to dislodge hard to reach peices of contamination. They are often used to clean glassware in laboratories.

    • @TOMMAKESSTUFF

      Yes, when bare copper is exposed to the elements it's will oxidize to a greenish/black color. That has the possibility of staining you skin. It can be avoided by putting a clear coat finish on the copper prior to wearing any of the jewelry
