that isn't pre-civilization, that's literally Zhongli standing somewhere in Huaguang Stone Forest. Which is even more insane cus he's likely somewhere around Jueyun Karst or Nantianmen below the Adeptal Abodes.
Childe still feels like a character that was ahead of his time. The splash art was really good, his kit is so technical for an early character too. His vibes are future-proof.
I kinda love that you can almost put Furina and Neuvillette's splash arts together, with her standing atop the water's surface and him judging from beneath the depths. Fits lore-wise as well.
But the thing is: on Furina’s splash art, she’s already on the outfit she twkes when no longer performing as an archon, when they do not work together any longer.

Childe's the only earlier character in S tier, it proofs how his splash art is so good even compared to the newer ones. Also from an artist standpoint, his splash art has dynamic composition, looks satisfying because his silhouette and colors stands out against the wave background. True, tbh a lot of the characters lately have big backgrounds that are overdetailed and way too similar in colors to the character itself so your focus shifts to the background over the character. Navia's splash for example. Yes, it's pretty but she gets lost in all that yellow behind her.
Him and Venti really set a sort expectation of fatui and archon splash arts respectively, Zhongli and Arlechinno just build upon that. Even Wanderer, Lyney and Lynette have incredible splash arts to stand alongside their fellow fatui members ( or ex colleges in Wanderer's case) and the archon artworks just get better from the basis set by Venti's
I genunaly think Childe has the best splash art, and will always have the best splash are no matter what. He is one of the only characters that actually interact with the background and not just standing before it. That's because after 1.x genshin stipped drawing new poses for splash are and just uses the drip, which has no backgrounf and can only stand up straight. So only characters from 1.x can have dynamic poses that can interact and be a part of the background, and Childe is just the best
I love her art because of the flowers. But Emilia herself looks terrible on the splash art. She is two different characters in the game and on the splash art.

Can we talk about furina splash arts for a sec?? most archons have realistic looking houses in their splash art (except nahida since its a cage) but furina splash art have houses that look like they are made out of cardboard, like from a play. Its such a good details that i never noticed before the video.
for me childe is definitely S+ tier, because of his posing and the way he interacts with his environment/building he's on. id also argue for albedo S tier cause the posing is super sick

The fact Yae's art work is essentially a predecessor to Neuvillette's is amazing. She has an almost archon quality backdrop and given that her role in Inazuma puts her at almost equal importance to Ei, it's very fitting that her artwork is so much higher quality than her fellow 2._ 5 stars aside from Ei.
I haven't finished the video so don't know what will change later but Kazuha Xiao Childe being in the same tier as Ayaka Rosaria is a crime lmao, they should be low S tier at least
I don't know if it's just me but after watching this video I realized that chongyun's splash art is actually insane even though it was whatever to me the past 3 years lol
After watching, and then rewatching to compare my feelings, I have 3 things. 1. Mona got shafted SO bad. Like, dude I get it and I agree, I love Yelan's to pieces. But Mona's is better than Yelan's. Where her's is clean, Mona has so much more going on. The stars, nebula, rings and planets, nevermind the semi-transparent space effect and the reflective surface she stands on, she doesn't beat the archons (and baizhu tbh) but she easily clears Dehya (as someone who actually uses and adores Dehya, I am so happy you gave her love she deserves.) And Yelan. 2. Honestly, I think the character archive background does so many of them dirty. It compliments the cryo well but darker blues or purples get lost (Justice4Kokomi) and other effects clash without a custom background, which was what carried most A and S tiers. The darker colors on the actual wish screen make effects pop way better and compliment all colors. Due to the tan-orange gradient in the middle I think Gorou's is great, same with Yun Jin. It gives unfair advantages to some (Baizhu might actually be too A without it) and sabotages most 3. Later = better effect on 4 stars did not hold as much water as you made it out to be, I think that there honestly should have been a separate list for each rarity. Many 4 stars got downplayed fighting impossible odds without backgrounds, only one cleared A through Fontaine privilege, and other 4 stars were definitely better Overall, your list, and I respect it, just putting in my 2 cents that make me wonder how official and definitive it actually is under these specific circumstances. I lowkey hope we return to the list and finds some proper grades but thats up to you
Glad to see Zhongli appreciation, his splashart remains one of the best even after all this time and the only character that dethroned it for me has been Neuvillette so far. . THE AURAAAAAAAAA (also agree with Neuvillette looking like he just came from the heaven AND I LOVE that vibe).
Monas splashart is so underrated. The background togehter with her is amaizing. But Navia is just on another level. Also Yae being A Tier despite having a huge detailed background is just wrong.
I think all the Cryo (and some hydro) characters have a debuff from them being so white and blue colored. It ends up not standing out from the BG and I think a basic part of our brain sees white as "default". The the ones you said consistently had more "aura" usually had strong reds and oranges. Yelan's...I think for me would be more high A-tier and that Lyney's was above Lynette's. But everyone else's ranking was pretty good. Baizhu's was the best surprise. The gold lining on those beautiful mountains? stunning
Something I find interesting upon seeing all these is that all the archons have their regions in their artwork, like the cliff and windmill for Venti or the main building in Ei's even Furina has Fontaine in hers.... But there isn't any parts of Sumeru in Nahida's it's just the interior of the Sanctuary where she was locked away.
I think it definitely plays true to their stories though, nahidas being the only art that doesnt have sumeru makes sm sense because she didnt get to have the same freedom the other archons did which is smth i really like when looking at all the archons splash arts Its the same with how Furinas buildings look like theyre from a play with all of it being made by cardboard (?) rather than the actual buildings of fontaine because her life until the death of focalors has just been her acting
I got Neuvillette as my first event banner 5-star and remembered that it felt really sick pulling him because of his absolutely amazing splash art. I didn’t even know who he was at that point, but it felt like i just pulled the fricking King of the world
Controversial opinion, I don’t like any of the ones in S+ tier. They just don’t feel like splash art from a design standpoint. They’re far too carried by the background, they don’t have strong silhouettes of the characters and bar Furina are all just stood there so don’t have interesting poses. IMO, the best ones are characters like Childe, Albedo and Clorinde. Strong poses, they’re interacting with the backgrounds while still having notable silhouettes, and there’s not too many distracting outside elements. It’s the same reasoning as to why Venti is my favourite of the archons’ art, it’s simple but still recognisable instead of just being a blob and everything that was behind the others is nicely tucked away under his feet so it doesn’t muddy his silhouette at all.
Nah, a splash art is meant to capture attention. Imagine yourself flipping through a book with the character splash arts and on your first glance which characters instantly take your attention.
But even so, the backdrops also have unique silhouettes as well right? You can see Nahida’s shrine of maya, the bubbles on Furina’s, etc. Also, I feel like Zhongli standing still shows personality, no? He’s not the very expressive type, he’s more serious and calm.

If you take a character like Klee for example it’s very easy to tell her splash art is her from the silhouette because her jumpy dumpty is above her and there’s nothing behind her. It’s simple, maybe a bit too simple for a 5 star, but still effective enough. Compare that to characters like Yae, Furina and Navia. Can you honestly tell me that at first glance of just the silhouettes you would be able to tell the difference between them? Because I’m not sure I could, and that is decidedly the opposite of what you want. And most of the characters who have gotten fully fledged backgrounds also suffer from their designs being the same colour as, or close to the colour of, their respective elements. Not an inherent problem, but for splash art sake it creates little to no contrast between the character and the background making them easily get lost in their own grandeur. This is especially an issue in the case of the archons who are actively designed to represent that element so by nature just can’t have any (Mavuika seems like she’ll be an exception with all the black in her outfit), and I find Navia to be another notable case. This is another reason why Childe’s art is so good, because all the grey, black and red of his outfit stands out a lot against the giant blue wave.
In an artist perspective, Zhongli and Furina are a tie on the top of S+ tier… Zhongli and Furina just pop out from the background, while Neuvillefte just hurts my eyes with how bright his background is. Navia tho… I dislike her splash art just because they used the same yellows from her outfit for her background, it makes her blend in and not stand out… but for the rest, I agree with your list!
I love that you liked ventis and Ei’s! Despite so many characters coming and giving you a hard time choosing which one is best, Ei still kept her part in S tier, and Venti kept his part in A tier. Not many people like these two, but I appreciate the way you put down your list! And also I feel like chongyuns is amazing?? Like how have I not noticed this??

I think Neuvillette's splash art is the best. In his splash art there is nothing that overshadows something. Even if you were to take the back ground and bubbles away his character ALONE works with any other basic hydro splash art and then combining it with its add-ons makes it even better as it summarizes the character perfectly in a nice balance as there's nothing that doesn't catch your eye. I personally thought Arlecchino was #3 in S+ Because if you were to take the moon away it would've looked more like a smiling Xiao splash art.
Surprisingly, we had around the same values/observations for each splash art. And I know you were joking saying you had bias towards some of these, but you were actually pretty neutral with your ranking & your choices were justified. Refreshing to see you not fold to the chat's "D" opinion when Dori's came around, or any of the other unpopular/popular characters
I found myself agreeing with way more of this tier list than I usually do for subjective takes like this! If you revisited this tier list just a week later, I almost feel like you would need another tier completely for the Natlan characters. Apart from the unique pop-arty visual style, even the dynamism of the poses and level of detail that's gone into the artwork is on a whole new level.

3. Later = better effect on 4 stars did not hold as much water as you made it out to be, I think that there honestly should have been a separate list for each rarity. Many 4 stars got downplayed fighting impossible odds without backgrounds, only one cleared A through Fontaine privilege, and other 4 stars were definitely better
Overall, your list, and I respect it, just putting in my 2 cents that make me wonder how official and definitive it actually is under these specific circumstances. I lowkey hope we return to the list and finds some proper grades but thats up to you

I think all the Cryo (and some hydro) characters have a debuff from them being so white and blue colored. It ends up not standing out from the BG and I think a basic part of our brain sees white as "default". The the ones you said consistently had more "aura" usually had strong reds and oranges.
Yelan's...I think for me would be more high A-tier and that Lyney's was above Lynette's. But everyone else's ranking was pretty good. Baizhu's was the best surprise. The gold lining on those beautiful mountains? stunning
Something I find interesting upon seeing all these is that all the archons have their regions in their artwork, like the cliff and windmill for Venti or the main building in Ei's even Furina has Fontaine in hers.... But there isn't any parts of Sumeru in Nahida's it's just the interior of the Sanctuary where she was locked away.
I think it definitely plays true to their stories though, nahidas being the only art that doesnt have sumeru makes sm sense because she didnt get to have the same freedom the other archons did which is smth i really like when looking at all the archons splash arts
Its the same with how Furinas buildings look like theyre from a play with all of it being made by cardboard (?) rather than the actual buildings of fontaine because her life until the death of focalors has just been her acting

I got Neuvillette as my first event banner 5-star and remembered that it felt really sick pulling him because of his absolutely amazing splash art. I didn’t even know who he was at that point, but it felt like i just pulled the fricking King of the world
One thing that I miss from the older splash arts is the different poses compared to the drip marketing, it just adds something extra to it.

Controversial opinion, I don’t like any of the ones in S+ tier. They just don’t feel like splash art from a design standpoint. They’re far too carried by the background, they don’t have strong silhouettes of the characters and bar Furina are all just stood there so don’t have interesting poses. IMO, the best ones are characters like Childe, Albedo and Clorinde. Strong poses, they’re interacting with the backgrounds while still having notable silhouettes, and there’s not too many distracting outside elements. It’s the same reasoning as to why Venti is my favourite of the archons’ art, it’s simple but still recognisable instead of just being a blob and everything that was behind the others is nicely tucked away under his feet so it doesn’t muddy his silhouette at all.

Nah, a splash art is meant to capture attention. Imagine yourself flipping through a book with the character splash arts and on your first glance which characters instantly take your attention.
But even so, the backdrops also have unique silhouettes as well right? You can see Nahida’s shrine of maya, the bubbles on Furina’s, etc. Also, I feel like Zhongli standing still shows personality, no? He’s not the very expressive type, he’s more serious and calm.
@@iidDoritoMeA I see what you mean but not particularly. If you take a character like Klee for example it’s very easy to tell her splash art is her from the silhouette because her jumpy dumpty is above her and there’s nothing behind her. It’s simple, maybe a bit too simple for a 5 star, but still effective enough. Compare that to characters like Yae, Furina and Navia. Can you honestly tell me that at first glance of just the silhouettes you would be able to tell the difference between them? Because I’m not sure I could, and that is decidedly the opposite of what you want. And most of the characters who have gotten fully fledged backgrounds also suffer from their designs being the same colour as, or close to the colour of, their respective elements. Not an inherent problem, but for splash art sake it creates little to no contrast between the character and the background making them easily get lost in their own grandeur. This is especially an issue in the case of the archons who are actively designed to represent that element so by nature just can’t have any (Mavuika seems like she’ll be an exception with all the black in her outfit), and I find Navia to be another notable case. This is another reason why Childe’s art is so good, because all the grey, black and red of his outfit stands out a lot against the giant blue wave.
Imo the old characters splash arts are my favorite, because you can guess who is the character just from the shadow alone. Especially venti's.
In an artist perspective, Zhongli and Furina are a tie on the top of S+ tier… Zhongli and Furina just pop out from the background, while Neuvillefte just hurts my eyes with how bright his background is. Navia tho… I dislike her splash art just because they used the same yellows from her outfit for her background, it makes her blend in and not stand out… but for the rest, I agree with your list!
I love that you liked ventis and Ei’s! Despite so many characters coming and giving you a hard time choosing which one is best, Ei still kept her part in S tier, and Venti kept his part in A tier. Not many people like these two, but I appreciate the way you put down your list! And also I feel like chongyuns is amazing?? Like how have I not noticed this??

I agree tbh. The big background art behind the characters doesn't always work imo. For example Navia's is pretty on it's own but the colors are waaaay too similar to her color palette she kinda blends in.

I think Neuvillette's splash art is the best. In his splash art there is nothing that overshadows something. Even if you were to take the back ground and bubbles away his character ALONE works with any other basic hydro splash art and then combining it with its add-ons makes it even better as it summarizes the character perfectly in a nice balance as there's nothing that doesn't catch your eye. I personally thought Arlecchino was #3 in S+ Because if you were to take the moon away it would've looked more like a smiling Xiao splash art.

I found myself agreeing with way more of this tier list than I usually do for subjective takes like this! If you revisited this tier list just a week later, I almost feel like you would need another tier completely for the Natlan characters. Apart from the unique pop-arty visual style, even the dynamism of the poses and level of detail that's gone into the artwork is on a whole new level.
