Canela and laurel are condiments, so the demon thingy is literally choosing towns whose names sound tasty. There's quite a bit of goofiness in the writing and I think that fits the art style pretty well.
Hey Manly! Thanks for playing, I'm glad you found it interesting. So you hit the nail on the head, I wanted to play with more game genres within the game, but the amount of assets I would have to make would be too much for a game I wanted to finish in a couple of months. (The fishing story was a fishing mini-game, and other stories/minigames had to be cut/saved for an expanded version) I really thank you for your insight, it was really great advice, so if I ever do the expanded version I'll be implementing a lot of what you said. I have a lot of ideas to work on, but I need to see if people like this small version before I risk the amount of work I would have to do. And again thank you for playing and for the content that you make, I really enjoy watching your videos while I work. Until next time!
9:17 I have to wonder... did this particular scene come from a movie called *Dead and Buried (1981)?* It reminds me of the poster art (which has a blue undead head coming out of the ground). 10:51 could this be from *The Devil's Rain (1974)?*

There's a lotta "HEY THIS REMINDS ME OF..." moments and obvious inspirations in the games I've seen so far but theres still a unique angle! It's really impressive. 27:40 Seeing ManlyBadassHero in the thank-you credits is a nice touch. especially considering the devs put his name there manually. goes to show just how many game he's played. well deserved thanks.
Imagine if the "person" watching the channels was really the grandpa's ghost. As punishment for escaping the eye entity, he has to watch what happens to his family. He can influence events to try to save them but ultimately he is helpless to stop it. Even when he does manage to change something (Jorge living another day) it only benefits the entity. Excluding the petty revenge against the grandpa, I wonder why it hunts down people and turns them into husks. If the victims stay inside it then doesn't that get annoying after a while with all those voices?
No i don't think that works. In order to do that, the demon would have to have some influence on his soul. Since he died of natural causes, i think the soul is away from the demon's reach.
What if the eye monster is a Backrooms entity, and what if Grandpa is stuck in the Backrooms, forced to watch a glitched TV that show folks dying? The question is, Are the people dying in the Backrooms, or are they in the real world ? Or maybe the people themselves aren't real, and all their deaths are just an illusion created by the eye entity.
This game reminds me a bit of this Japanese urban legend where there's a secret channel that every night at a certain time lists people who are going to die that day.
Okay why is there a Japanese urban legend about everything? I have the feeling if you take a group of Japanese people. And just dumb them anywhere in the planet! A lost town in Africa. A castle in Germany. A camp in the USA. Everywhere where they stay a while. They make ghosts and legends around it

Okay, here's my shot at the timeline with Jorge as the main focus, if anyone has a more accurate hypothesis or noticed I missed something please comment (tl;dr at bottom) ; -Channel 23 is the earliest in the timeline where we see the gentleman dancing with his decaying wife/ so. (The wife is the aunt of Jorge, the reason for the pink hair is that it was artificially colored.) The demon was either slowly sapping her vitality and this was their last dance before she died or the guy danced with her corpse as some form of grief -Channel 304 is next, with the death of Jorge's aunt, Grandpa noticed the evil surrounding her death and prayed vehemently to the deity which ironically enough probably staved off the demon's attack because... -Channel 22 Grandpa's health has deteriorated and he's on his deathbed surrounded by loved ones; Grandma, GrandUncle (Grandpa's brother) GrandAunt (Grandpa's sister-in-law, note the tanned skin), Jorge's Father and mother (brown hair from father (brown hair is important) hair length from mother). It's here that we learn that Grandpa escaped the torment from the demon by dying of natural causes but the demon is quite prideful and after killing the pink hair woman (Jorge's aunt/ Grandpa's daughter) he set his target on grandpa but because of divine intervention for who knows how many years, Grandpa was the one to get away and now he's going to hammer down on this family until there is no one else, not even loved ones, starting with... -Channel 6 After an 18 year+ time skip the demon strikes, killing the now-aged gentleman from channel 23, but because he had married in, he wasn't devoured/drained and kept as a trophy -Channel 15 We see a man fishing, and at first, glance just looks like a simple night fishing channel but here we see one Jorge enjoying an anxiety-free activity (the brown hair and receding hair line are clues, if you noticed how the older generation males hair look, they're basically bald on top) that is until the demon attacks him by possessing a fish because, in a rush to destress and as seen in ch 8's first run and ch 304, Jorge doesn't really believe in the deity's blessing to the extent of his Grandpa's, which is his undoing. *can be swapped with ch 8* - Channel 8 On the first run (seeing as it's an early channel) you are now Jorge who's in his late 20's early 30s with a strong case of anxiety and you go about his day until you don't pray and show respect to the deity who in turn doesn't save you from getting hit by a truck, ironically this is the good end, but not the canon ending. The canon ending are you properly pray and show respect which leads to some of that divine intervention that Grandpa had that saves Jorge from dying from a falling pole, unfortunately that means the demon with patience just has to wait for the one time Jorge doesn't do his ritual and... -Channel 11 After Jorge's death, we cut to a shower scene with a mysterious young woman with long brown hair (clue). This woman is Jorge's younger sister or to be precise one of Jorge's younger sisters. They were not present during ch 22 due to being too young. The arm the demon is holding is Jorge's and her faith is 'handed' to her -Channel 28 , the demon makes haste to another of Jorge's kin, Jorge's second cousin (if you want you can also say another sister, it doesn't change much, but I'm going to say cousin) who is in an argument with her lover/husband. The demon possesses her and with a knife, in hand the lover quickly gets the point, where the demon using one or both of their blood makes his calling call, the eye. *When the demon says it's useless, he's not talking to the lover but to the now possessed woman who's trying not to kill the lover* -Channel 18 We're introduced to Mario and Juan, while not blood-related to Jorge they are acquainted with Jorge's first cousin Marcelo (Claudia's son). Their deaths are because Marcelo wants to be friends and the demon wants to take away any chance of joy this family can have, leaving a calling sign -Channel 32 After a visit from Marco's mother (and/or Juan's) we can see that the demon's activities have been noticed by the public, via the calling signs, Marco joins the family, Claudia's ( fate isn't seen but we can take a gander of what will happen to her -Channel 38-Now we have Jorge's other second cousin (ch 28's brother, note the tanned skin he got from Jorge's Grandaunt) After the date we see all the soul's he's collected; Jorge, top right (notice that his left arm is being blocked by a tree and that it was a left arm that held the towel from channel 11), Pink hair, middle (notice her hair isn't stark white, showing that it was artificially colored), an unnamed female possibly ch 28 (no person died wearing a pink dress that was shown but wouldn't put it passed the demon to set up the scene for the last victim of Canela, after all, he loves inducing trauma). Channel 11 woman, still wearing only a towel. Marcelo, mid left, hat and attire matches. and the latest victim, he died happily, I guess? -Channel 42 We have the daughter of Ch 28, the only one to have both parents dead in front of her, though her brother wasn't present. My guess is that Grandpa was put into Ricky to guide her away from evil, but Amelia watched Monster Inc and was sympathetic to the demon and it cost her. So tells the last victim of Canela -Channel 13 We finish this timeline with the last remaining jojo, Ricardo. Having his whole family wiped out in a short time, he just wants to get away from it all and start life anew in Laurel, unfortunately for him the demon also wants to make a fresh start, and what better way to make a fresh start then ending your last project ch 23->304->22->6->158->11->28->18->32->38->42->13
_How does your garden grow?_ Hopefully not like that. The little teddybear crying kind of got me. The little girl was so stupidly trusting. I liked how the stories were related. The dev has interesting ideas and I liked the presentation of this. Aww it was nice to see the thank you to you MBH in the credits. :) You are the secret master!!
Always good to see more from this developer. For a smaller project, I still really enjoyed this. At first every channel seeming unconnected until you begin to connect the dots and piece things together worked quite well. The secret channels are a nice Easter egg too. I'd certainly be interested in a longer, more fleshed out version if the dev pursued the idea.
I remember when Manly’s channel was a lot smaller, so it still warms my heart whenever a game gives a shoutout to this channel. Congrats manly on all the growth! :D
20:22 Wow his date really sucked the life out of him Also was happy that the developer ended up getting the MBH reference in as part of the secrets knowing that he'd probably find them all, let out a chuckle seeing it in the end
I always find it really wholesome whenever a game developer references or specially mentions manlybadasshero in their games. He's earned every shout out and every subscriber including me. I'm happy for him. 💯 ✨
I feel if this did get fleshed out to a full game, I would like to see the story expanded out to anthology and to have the nameless eyeball plant monster move to multiple towns across generations and the player can uncover the secret behind it.
Channel 6 is like that Stephen King short story where there's a polaroid camera that only produces pictures of a menacing dog, and with each shot it gets a little closer.
I think this is an interesting concept, I'm rooting for Maldo to be able to remake this game with more time and better assets, maybe with a small team.
I remember Salazar House. It was a bit rough around the edges, but still an enjoyable game. Good to see the developer has improved quite a bit since then
Wait... is this tv just tuned to the news all the time for the last 3 years? Jokes aside, I'm getting a World of Horror vibe like this could be an expanded mystery. Or maybe it really is just locked to the 24 hour news channel.
Hey manly! I think a game that you would really like is Sam and Max: Hit the Road! It’s always so comforting watching your videos : ) thank you for continuing to post!
This was honestly really, really good - the channel based gameplay really works, in ways I can hardly describe - the quick little hits just make it feel so good, and seem so expandable, it is ^*^
If you really think about it this entity isn't necessarily malicious as you see in the end, the family appear to be existing and their consciousnesses are preserved in the entity kinda like the infinite tsukyomi
I wouldn't say that. He literally said to the one dying guy, "You escaped me. The others won't be so lucky." Clearly he doesn't see what he's doing to them as something that's good for them.
@@coranbaker6401 I mean also the entity provided the dating sim guy a “happy ending” since it was implied he was already “inside” the entity with how the screen immediately cuts to him being all grey and shriveled up
@shawnliang3835 It's also implied that the sim guy was "resisting" in some way. So clearly even when they're inside the entity they can still make things more difficult for it. Maybe if it placate the people inside, it can more easily drain their essence.
@@sugarholicx3 those things reminds me of some animated tendril sucking thier life force and also give them some false memories, true nightmares some have it good like the date guy (despite showing resistance) and the others tormenting whole family members and destroying what you love like that girl with the knife with thier own hands
Manly, you should play "Like Veins Beneath the Town," its the third game made by Michaela Thisten, the one who made "The Well Speaks To Me" and "They Watch From The Walls".
At 20:27, there is an easter egg. At the left side in the back, there is a man with a tuxedo. Which might be the man who said this dog keeps barking at me. Because he also had one..
Soon as I saw Channel 8 I just knew that it was going to be a truck, I don’t know how but as soon as I saw them waking up my first thought was ‘Yep, Kagerou Daze’
This was super cool I would love to see it expanded i really wanna know what happened to the guy who was dancing with the dead body also I wonder if the teddy bear was some sort of acutal guardian angel
this is super duper random but the bgm at 12:50 is actually Chopin's Waltz No. 19 in A Minor !! i love finding classical pieces in games lol, like Waltz No. 2 in that one rat king game
A random Fun fact i noticed. At around the 13:34 mark, the “I miss you” is the same clip used at around the 5 minute mark in “Smiles and Tears” from Earthbound! See! My random video game trivia comes in handy once in awhile!
14:33 Bro, the TV in the child's TV is the crime he just witnessed but the aftermath of it since there are white lines to show that there was a dead body there. XD 15:00 I knew it! It's all connected!
A large black blob monster with randomly placed eyes, mouths, and tentacles coming out of it is a Shoggoth. I thought everyone knew that? Does no one read their Lovecraft anymore?!
@@ljones2087 They should replace Shakespeare with Lovecraft in middle school (6,7,8th grade) English and save the Shakespeare for when they are in high school and old enough to appreciate it, much less interpret it. Give them a love of older books first LOL.
I think you should've done the 666 channel again since he said "we still don't meet", and now that I realized it probably had to do with Jorge. So you had to do the 304 secret (after doing the 3 prayers and showing respect) and then the 666, probably that's it. For the secret code, no need to waste your time decoding it
I just like interactive game TVs in general, I enjoyed Panic! on Sega CD and things like Warioware, visual stimulation with some form of interaction. I do like the Adventure clue hunting structure of the channels in this game as a way to break up the passive linearity interactive TV can often turn into historically speaking.
Well I will say, I am a bit bothered by some lil problems. The story is a bit freaky and gives off a hopeless feeling, but the problem I have is that it feels a bit... Forceful at times. Like you either knows what's going to happen (this character is going to die, likely by this creature) or you can't do a specific thing (like you can't deny anything on that date, like I personally think it would be cool if whoever tried to rebel, but it isn't possible) just not being able to do something is rather disappointing. I do think it isn't bad, as I think it is unique idea and could be fun. But I think having it be more unexpected and giving the player more interaction would be good. Just my thoughts.
That’s literally the point tho lol… the whole point of the game is for each channel to eventually tell an overarching story of “a town of doomed people” so ofc you’re supposed to know smthn bad is gonna happen to most if not each person??? & it’s not a multiple ending game so ofc you’re guided in a certain direction, to figure out the plot/storyline lol just like any other game w/ that intention🙃
I like how at the end "girlfriend" stop saying: "stop resisting" and just said: "you know you can't escape". Although I'm not a fan games being so linear.

youd think to choose a diffrent path or call animal control if you see the exact same dog coming closer everyday
Mom? Is that you?
I love how manly plays the best indie horror games then the creators come and watch him play the game they made it's so wonderful
The way he pronounced Jorge as George, adorable
I remember this one horror game a long time ago where there was a TV headed demon of some sort that killed a family. This reminded me a bit of that.
Do you remember what the game was called? It sounds interesting
@@veronikam.4453 I'm afraid it's been ages, so I don't remember. ;n;
like it was an actual tv that replaced the head? because that kind of sounds really familiar but i can't remember anything past that.
Salazar House?
i love pixelated horror games sm theyre so entertaining fr
Ikr
Definitely!
I think with the blooming flower situation, the more ppl you watch die, the more it grows, leading to it’s blooming.
The egg cooking scene unnerved me with suspense .I really dug the vibe/aesthetic.
I feel if this did get fleshed out to a full game, I would like to see the story expanded out to anthology and to have the nameless eyeball plant monster move to multiple towns across generations and the player can uncover the secret behind it.
Channel 6 is like that Stephen King short story where there's a polaroid camera that only produces pictures of a menacing dog, and with each shot it gets a little closer.
the dude dancing with the woman’s corpse really reminded me of that one vocaloid song necrophile’s bride
I just listened to that on my way home from work. Love Kanon69's version both new and old
@@Haru-rs2su what a blast from the past hahaha
i'm pretty partial to the fancover using kiyoteru! his voice fits the song so well
“Look ma I’m on t.v.”

Holy shit
@@jestfullgremblim8002 indeed
I am dying at the ending where he says "Who do you think you are? ManlyBadassHero?"
33:24 for the ones that wander
I think this is an interesting concept, I'm rooting for Maldo to be able to remake this game with more time and better assets, maybe with a small team.
the fish at 9:09 looks like hes about to drop some sick lines
bro looks like he way about to say “Yo”
@@Private_jinbro boutta say "wassup"
22:27 "I can't bear this"

can't believe that Manly would reveal his crippling anime addiction on a date in a horror game.
I just love the deadpan voice. There's something comedic about it with horror games, I'm glad I found this channel so long ago
I loved that part when the channel 319 said "Who you think you are?, Manlybadasshero" really clever detail
@@coranbaker6401 I mean also the entity provided the dating sim guy a “happy ending” since it was implied he was already “inside” the entity with how the screen immediately cuts to him being all grey and shriveled up
@shawnliang3835
It's also implied that the sim guy was "resisting" in some way. So clearly even when they're inside the entity they can still make things more difficult for it. Maybe if it placate the people inside, it can more easily drain their essence.
@@coranbaker6401 fair point
@@sugarholicx3 those things reminds me of some animated tendril sucking thier life force and also give them some false memories, true nightmares some have it good like the date guy (despite showing resistance) and the others tormenting whole family members and destroying what you love like that girl with the knife with thier own hands
Manly, you should play "Like Veins Beneath the Town," its the third game made by Michaela Thisten, the one who made "The Well Speaks To Me" and "They Watch From The Walls".
Holy shit, the Midnight Channel
Everyday is fun at Junes~!
This game really reminds me of a simplified version of 'Do not feed the monkeys', which ate WAY too many hours of my life.
24:38 reminds me of “I’m tired grandpa, well that’s too damn bad”
Imagine he voiced and narrated this entire thing except little parts when he did speak random stuff, and we just don’t notice and we think he’s reading
Oh my..
18:13 I'm pretty sure this was a joke, but it was relatable. I would be pretty happy on a date with an eye demon, shadowy tendrils and all...
hi satan
Those sounds at 4:57 are sooo satisfying and his acting is also satisfying everything with this game is satisfying
Before I watched I was like "it would be ironic if at the end the player will look at themselves"
And I'm watching it right now
Man I'm disappointed this game doesn't feature the revolutionary "Zapping" system prominently featured in the original resident evil 2.
Yeah, i also expected it
3:37 the bred is lowkey serving seddam hussein hiding spot
Aha!!! Woo yeah woohoo
This just sounds like The Midnight Channel
This was super cool I would love to see it expanded i really wanna know what happened to the guy who was dancing with the dead body also I wonder if the teddy bear was some sort of acutal guardian angel
rods from bods
This is such a cool game! I hope they make more episodes!
22:04
Ever since Fate Stay and
the scene with the kid and Bluebeard
I really don’t trust any “kind monsters” of the tentacle kind with children
this is super duper random but the bgm at 12:50 is actually Chopin's Waltz No. 19 in A Minor !! i love finding classical pieces in games lol, like Waltz No. 2 in that one rat king game
I just posted a comment about that! Classical music is my favorite genre!
XD
15:00 I knew it! It's all connected!
A large black blob monster with randomly placed eyes, mouths, and tentacles coming out of it is a Shoggoth. I thought everyone knew that? Does no one read their Lovecraft anymore?!
We are too busy trying to awaken our Persona
No, they dont. I know because I do.
Gargaroth the devourer from the amazing world of gumball!?!?
Probably not so many, true crime and modern fiction are the most commonly read things nowadays.
@@ljones2087 They should replace Shakespeare with Lovecraft in middle school (6,7,8th grade) English and save the Shakespeare for when they are in high school and old enough to appreciate it, much less interpret it. Give them a love of older books first LOL.
17:53
"YOU UGLY PIG!!"
That made me laugh a lot
I think you should've done the 666 channel again since he said "we still don't meet", and now that I realized it probably had to do with Jorge. So you had to do the 304 secret (after doing the 3 prayers and showing respect) and then the 666, probably that's it.
For the secret code, no need to waste your time decoding it
Suddenly the midnight channel
I like that the whole shebang is all connected and other channels can influence other channels as well.
“too many cooks” lmfao
a joy as always, thank you.
The music playing at 12:51 is Chopin’s Waltz in A minor, published some time after his death
Fellow two setter?
@@masamune9082 I play piano and it’s my go-to song (tho I am subscribed to Two Set Violin)
Manly: You get to watch a cursed TV where you see people about to die...
Alright, let's turn this TV on.
Me: How 'bout not? 😖
I always tell myself “one more episode” but the next minute it’s be king MIDNIGHT
Me: “Can we have Persona 4?”
Mom: “We have Persona 4 at home.”
Persona 4 at home:
27:38 when Manly got special thanks twice
That's both a pretty cool idea for a game and twist
I love how channel 38 (the date one) had Prelude in C BWV 846 playing in the background
The teddy bear makes me so incredibly sad as a tedybear haver and lover
This is kinda like Darkwood; the woods putting everyone into a dream while it consumes them.
16:52 LMAO, The monster is pissed why you trying to ruin his plan
I love the "who do you think you are ManlyBadassHero?!" dialogue XD
Dev: Who do you think you are? Manlybadasshero?
Manly: … I mean.
Well, at least one of the guys who died got laid and cashed in his V-Card, so there is a plus/plus in everythign, even the most horrible of things.
I love how it just interconnects to different channels. This'd be great with expansion.
39:01 manly badass would be a good alchemist voice actor.
I like how at the end "girlfriend" stop saying: "stop resisting" and just said: "you know you can't escape". Although I'm not a fan games being so linear.
i like that horror game. it has a nostalgic feeling to another one i liked as a kid
I'm loving the music at 0:30
me too
Anything you desire, assuming it's tendrils of shadow goo
What
The "..kay" after seeing the face was so funny to me for some reason
The story was awesome. Yeah I wished there was more gore & blood in this one too
I love how he says who are you manlybadasshero?
2:05 Reminds me of El Cadejo, a spectral dog that changes the closer you get. Or was it another creature? :/
this idea reminds me of an Ito-esque manga called PTSD Radio. Dunno if the dev knows about this but it would be a good inspiration source.
