I see that the Switch version took the Twilight Princess approach and added an absurd amount of bloom to everything to try and create the illusion of higher graphical fidelity.
They also removed colors in some places. The monsters are all green like the ambient light instead of being orange. Her purse too went from orange to blend itself with the rest of her clothes.
P.S. but in the water section it's the other way around: it's the 360 version that's devoid of colors.
It has more details, don't you see that?
Her hair casts a shadow on the 360 version too.
I hated that in the wind waker dh one. The original looked better
I was worried the switch might get a halfhearted port, but if this is the actual performance, I am more than happy.

Why are you using the WRONG color range with the 360 footage? This is something so basic yet this channel gets it wrong everytime there is a comparison video.
Does it comer as a shocker? No. When they do these videos they never upload in 4K when it comes to showcasing PS5/Series/PC comparisons
What would they gain by doing that on purpose? I don't think Nintendo is paying them.
It's something that pisses me off endlessly cause it makes the footage look so much worse than it really does.
@@kevinkite3418 I'm not saying they did it on purpose, just pointing out their incompetence when it come to comparison videos like this.
Also they fuck up the Wii U colors since it uses Limited Range, and they didn't adjust it to display correctly, so it just looks washed out.
IDK. we have sharper textures and some more modern lighting but some of the graphical effects look better on the old engine like the smoke, and theres more consistent and less garish color grading. The new one bounces all over the place.

There is a problem with the light, it's too bright on the new version.
Looks like they added a lighting system and some texture improvements. For $20 it's not bad if you don't already have it.
I already have the HD remaster and it runs like a dream on the Series S. This is very little of an improvement to justify getting it

It was a very experimental period where we drew from several cultures. Either in connection with the developers, or with personal tastes.

IIRC they made a Twitter post confirming it is indeed still in development.
I think the new version characters look too rubbery and the faces are weird, especially Pey'J. The original had a more unique, interesting style, Jade looked cooler and more alive, now they look like puppet dolls. The lighting system is also all over the place. Only good thing is some defined textures here and there. This is not the first time a remaster destroys character faces, look up Final Fantasy X, Devil May Cry 3, Mafia 2 Definitive Edition.

I can't believe this exists and that it has content referencing BG&E2. I feel like thats a confirmation that BG&E2 is NOT dead in the water? Im so happy right now. I love the look of this where its got new materials, textures, and lighting, but keeping the same animations and voices. Cant wait to try this, one of my fave games ever.
Yeah but this is modern Ubisoft so I have no faith in part 2 being good
All things considered even the trailer from few years back was not promising and the fact that the director of the original left the company is like the final nail in the coffin.
They have changed up the lighting quite a bit. Its not just brighter, much of the environment is lit now when it wasn't before. Hard to say if its noticeably better or not, but its certainly different at the very least.
I would say at 5:44 it is much worse.

@@knuclear200x are you referring to the Tomb Raider series!? I loved that remaster and the price was a steal. I'm definitely thinking of getting this. Although, I think they have the darkness down on the other game. Could be wrong. Still would love to try this game!!!
20 years ago, feels like 10 max. I hope this is cheap cuz og went $10 first month was a flop, but a great game. I create characters called Jade since l played it, if l had a kid l would call them Jade or Jaden.
On steam it's 20$, which is way lower than I expected tbh.
@@Workingmonkeyz PC Steam Version Sucks dont buy, it has not Stema features like Cloud Save, Achievements Trading Cards and it Has DRMalware Denuvo & Ubiconnect Launcher is required.
on switch really doesn't look bad for once.
This game looked great on the GC/PS2/Xbox already. Only the resolution was poor even for a game released in 2003 cause there was forced letterboxing
Overall looks great. I think I prefer the way Jade looks on 360 though.
360 holds up extremely well especially if you play it on an HD CRT. It's a really nice remaster though I just wouldn't buy it if you already played the original
It's just the same game with SSR and Bloom
a remaster is always the same game(sometimes a particular platforms version) but its still always the same game. a remake is when its remade completely. also, there is clearly more than just bloom and ssr.
before i get the nintendo fanboy shtick, i'm not a fanboy of anything, this is just me arguing your wrong point of view.

It looks very clean and to be honest it looks great!, The colours and contrast,Sharpness levels and such are a vast improvement over the hd version. Making these changes are absolutely needed with how much display technology has changed since its release, You know what its like trying to play classic games on a tv from today they look nothing like how they did. its so much easier on the eyes everything that should stand out and be noticable now really stands out and is noticable without straining the eyes. Aslong as the framerate it stable then this looks like a very good port in my eyes. EDIT: Also forgot to mention it looks more faithful to the original than the hd version i love the little retro touches such as the scanlines on the cutscene at the start it feels more authentic and less sterile than the hd version.
why not compare it with the PC version instead? This way we can really see if anything was really updated other than increasing the resolution of things.

Why does the Switch version look so much better? And no I'm not just talking about the color range, but actually the graphical details.
It's a new version of the game where they reworked character models, assets, effects, lighting etc. The HD version on Xbox360 is just the original game at a higher resolution.

@@legacytagnot by much lmao. Don't get me wrong, I love the console, but it's only a minor upgrade to the Ps3/360 era of consoles. It's a console defined by pushing the limitations of older hardware to its absolute limit.
@@Supergupoit’s a bit more than minor upgrade. Switch has a ton of advantages over the PS3 and 360. It’s just quite a bit away from the PS4 and Xbox one in GPU power and this really shows in multiplat titles that tax the GPU
@@Supergupo the extra power Switch has allows it to run games from PS3, 360 and Wii U at higher resolutions like 1080p.

The footage is definitely brighter on Switch, which some people might like, and others might not.
not only brighter, the colors are much stronger here too. i like the switch version, looks good.
GameXplain clearly recorded the Xbox 360 version using the wrong color range, that's why the colors looks so washed out compared to the Switch version. They repeated that mistake multiple times in the past when comparing Switch ports of Wii U games, they never seem to learn.

@@SaltyToad00 That doesn't help at all, they should have recorded their own footage or at the very least have used another gameplay with the correct color range, world of longplays has one and it looks much better for a proper comparison.
is jt just me or does it most of the time look worse than the xbox version? light, colors etc look almost always better on 360

It should be. The game ran at 60fps on all the 6th gen consoles when it originally came out.

When I get this for the Switch physical my end results will be better as for all my games I play on the Switch I use the classic with 4kgamer pro to upscale it to 4k & they really look vivid, crispy & clean.
I can only picture how things will look even better once Switch 2 is a thing.

It looks better in some ways and worse in others. But, given this is just being release on Switch now and it came out on Xbox 360 a long time ago, I honestly think it's kinda embarrassing for Switch. The Switch version looks kinda blown out and more fake and even kiddie to my eyes.
This is more on the remaster as all of them have this different lighting
The visuals look exactly the same on the other consoles. This isn't just a Switch issue.
yeah it's just as bad in regards to lighting on the ps5. the darks are way too dark and the brightness is way too bright.
same thing happened on the kingdoms of amalur remaster. the dark parts are too dark so you want to turn up your brightness but next second want to turn it down because the bright lightning is a constant headache inducing flash bang.
Reminds me of most remasters, Metroid Prime remaster looked both better and worse in places.

Game Xplain did a live stream earlier today and he said it didn't make him sign into anything. No Ubi account needed apparently. Also Limited Run is making Physical copies, pre orders start July 12th.
@@TheRavenArchon I'm not too sure about the whole account thing. When I tried the demo for Fenyx Immortal Rising, an account with Ubisoft wasn't needed, but when I got the full game, the account was needed, so I returned the game. This could be the same case, no account for a demo, or something close to a demo, then an account required the moment it actually releases.

??? This is a remaster of a game that originally came out on the GameCube, PS2, and Xbox which later got ported to 360. How is this a point against the switch when the PS5 and Series X versions won’t look that different
