Cheers!
I love the brushes. I have 3! Now, the record weight I won’t buy because it’s never going to be perfectly symmetrical when it spins. I don’t care what the drawing and simulation says - whenever metal is cut, it’s never perfect. Why start with an asymmetrical shape? You’re just setting yourself up for a wobble.
@ Bought one for my Brinkmann Bardo. Nagra TT then came with one, but I thought the silver metalized wood would be a better match, so that was #3. Now, maybe the weight is worth a try; but I don’t want to spend $1K just to try it out.
Like it Danny, I tried most of them, not this though, but i always stay with my Kuzma wooden 'weight' and have moved on with other 'insignificant' trixings that sometimes make a significant difference...
I've been lusting after that record brush since it appeared... This clamp looks exquisite! As always, your videos are distinguished by the beautiful production values. Great opening!
I've mentioned this before, but my favorite brush is the AR-ASRB1 Analog Relax record brush. To my knowledge it's the only brush that uses fibers that are narrower than the groove of the record so you can actually sweep out the tiny dust particles embedded in the groove. Also, it's never scratched any of my records, where the conductive coated goats hair and carbon fiber brushes have. It's about $65, but worth every penny!!!
@@SonicFlare 😆Yeah, it's not going to replace a cavitation cleaner, nor does it have the satisfying magnetized "click" of the Ramar, but it's an indispensable part of my everyday vinyl playback ritual. 🤓 When you think about how often a record brush is used, I never really understood cheaping out on one. It's like trying to save money by skipping an oil change. 😵
Call a machinist a ask him to make you a concave mat. Well not concave exactly but at an angle so you dont mess with the azimuth. Put that beautiful record weight on and you have a perfectly straight perfectly coupled 0 warp vinyl playback no matter which side. :)
@@SonicFlare Interestingly, I've had a couple of very well respected repair techs tell me to never use a record weight that is much over 2-300 grams on any vintage table, citing the exact reason the OP states. Since I love vintage tables and use a DUAL1229 daily, I've not bothered with using a weight, but I know several people that use them on all sorts of tables and have never had an issue. Also, the 1229's platter weight is 8 lbs, so I can't imagine how a 400g weight like the Jewel would have any negative effect. I'd love to know if anyone has done some actual research on this.

3! 😇😎

Turn that DS Audio ION Off when playing records! Try it both ways - you may notice high frequencies sound more natural with the ION turned off.
Like it Danny, I tried most of them, not this though, but i always stay with my Kuzma wooden 'weight' and have moved on with other 'insignificant' trixings that sometimes make a significant difference...
Agreed - this is more of an accessory in my book; albeit, a pretty one!

Awwwww thanks Mark! 😎

I’ll have to check it out - that said, I use my Deshitter for deep cleaning anyway…

Great stuff DK. I'll take 2 🍺🍺

Yes, but that only works for maybe half the warped records. The ultimate is to have a flat record, the penultimate would be vacuum hold…
Am I right in saying that weights do not work on Rega turntables, or am I making that up Danny?
I don’t think that’s a given - Rega believe in their quasi purist approach; I think you should experiment with it and see / hear for yourself… 😎
Price?
In the description… 799 EUR
Brush S/N 242….
The club is open! 🤣
They are a con. They actually damage the deck by placing extra strain on the bearings. Emperors new clothes n all that.
Sure, which flavor jelly bean-bearings are you running?
Theoretically you are right. But have you ever seen a bearing burn out because of a record weight? I haven't.
@terrywho22 if a “normal” record weight indeed burns out a bearing, I’d stay about as far away from that turntable as I could.

@terrywho22 yeah, me too - I wish I had tools to measure and futz with numbers etc… very curious to see scientifically what actually happens…
