@@radspencer8187 Too bad the arcade version does not feature the spider mech that seemed to come from Ghost in the Shell and which also kind of reminded me of metal gear that you find in the end if that version of this game.
Tropic thunder probably got the inspiration from this. You have the main character resembling the look of Simple Jack and going gun-ho like the lead farmer......
Mediocre game at best. But gotta admit, that opening is very good. Also that dude remained in prison camp for 20 years? Holy shit. Where's Rambo when you need him?
I remember playing this game in the arcade back in the day, and that the control sticks were like octagon on salt and pepper shakers. I also remember however turn the arcade version, and I could be wrong, but I remember that the bodies of the Dead did not disappear in this game. I remember that being a huge deal back in the day and was surprised to see them disappearing in this play through but maybe it's because it is a port. It would be interesting to see someone play the actual arcade version of this to see if the bodies remain after you kill the enemies.
This isn't a port though, it is the actual arcade game, just played through an emulator. The only port this game got was to the Genesis, and it's not quite like the arcade game at all, but a downgrade. You might be experiencing false memories, a Mandela Effect.

my rom for M.A.M.E. it does not work well . The soldier runs continuously and is impossible to aim opponents. Someone knows a better rom that does not have this problem?
I think the reason for this is the original arcade joystick was different. I'm having the same issue as you. so annoying. anyone able to help with this???
You need to separate the regular controls and map the analog controls to other buttons (if you have a regular game pad, i recommend mapping the rotary controls to the shoulder buttons)
@@TheColdest247 - not sure TBH - AFAIK the rotary stick provides a digital input and a spinner provides an analog input so I'm not sure how, or even if, you can map them together. You've also got the problem of having both hands in use on the controls with nothing free to use the two buttons. Best option would be to get an Ultimarc rotary stick conversion kit and use to to convert one of their J-Stiks or ServoStiks
Wow, is this game ever pathetically short. >.< Really, not even worth the quarter you pop in, when you could be playing Robotron instead. Edited to add: thumbs up for the effort of making the video, but a definite unrecorded thumbs down for the game itself! (I won't give one of these videos a thumbs down because I don't like the game. That is petty and fucking stupid!)
@@DJDanceClassic Double dragon came out two years earlier and that game was *DOUBLE* the length of this one. They are correct about this game being too short
Dude. One of the greatest feelings as a kid was when me and my friends saw that chopper at the end come in. We legit went crazy.
Amazing, without youtube us older folks who grew up with these games in the arcade would never see the endings.
1:41 - that is one short goddamn runway.
2:43 - adopting the young Anakin Skywalker strategy: spinning is a good trick.
1:28 For anyone curious, you can actually use the plane, but doesn't last long. It self destructs after beating the the Tank Boss.
Grandpa how was in Vietnam
Grandpa: there's one guy that keep spinning with a flame thrower like a crazy bastard. It was cool.
And that flamethrower was in caliber .50
@@danieldorn2927 grandchild: AWESOME
Ah yes, the standard issue .50 caliber flamethrower.
Not to mention the 4 barrelled super tank. Mainstay of North Vietnamese army.
Even before the Red Alert!
My favourite!

"Based on the novels by Viet Nam 1972"
Oh yeah, Viet Nam 1972 is my favorite author!
Actually really enjoyed this one in the arcades with the rotary joystick. Neat little game.
Nobody is going to talk about the three giant skull throwing baboons?
Skulls = doo-doo
I've been searching this game since years. Finally found it. It was my childhood game. 30 years ago ✌
The best arcade game ever :) I remember her when I was child in 1990 or 1991 it was in arcade in my city in Poland.
Serio

That intro is so sick
Intro is amazing.
Very impressive artwork - underrated.
This game ate literally every quarter of the $17 I had between the ages of 10 and 12.
The bgm of this game is repeated infinitely in your head once you think about it
I like how only the chickens are spared.
So I guess this means that the Genesis port added 3 more levels, because I only hear 3 tracks instead of 6 or 7 that was in the Genesis port.
Absolute classic!
1972 is a bit too early for Tomcats on Vietnam. My immersion is ruined.
Neither allies nor enemies will scream when killed. terribly realistic.
Nice shooting, Tex.
Whoa whoa whoa!!
Very nice soundtrack, but why did Key Nakanishi get a "special no thanx"??
this is how Any rambo game should have been
6:34 Are they throwing skulls because they can’t show turds in video games?
Awesome game!!!
Mediocre game at best. But gotta admit, that opening is very good.

So guile game when he was at war

It took me a few games before i realised that the joystick was rotary😅
The horrors of war
20 years in prison???
This game remind you of gauntlet ?
does it take just 13 minutes to get this game completed? :(
well that was short
Only 14min to play through???

Deccers Malone yes. I have an arcade cabinet with a spinner. It works awesome! With the stick you walk and the spinner makes his gun turn directions!
Did you just shoot an oxen in that game?!
Peta won't be happy to see this...
i turn in circles when going left or right
You need to separate the regular controls and map the analog controls to other buttons (if you have a regular game pad, i recommend mapping the rotary controls to the shoulder buttons)
How do you play this game? My controller forces me to use D-Pad for movement and the analog stick for turning; it's very awkward.
Wacky Fact to escape from the second extraction point ALL enemy aircraft have to be destroyed.
Herpy glurpy.
Rotary joysticks are the shit - never understood why they didn't catch on
can this be played with a joystick and a regular spinner?
