I love Neil Young's music and your lesson on Harvest Moon has been a real eye opener. I'll be 65 in December, been playing since I was about 12, and feel as though I've learned more in the last month than I have in a long, long time.
    Thanks,
    Chris

My grandfather fought in WW2 and at the end of his life he could barely hear. From him I learned to appreciate what most of us take for granted. Playing the guitar, and music in general brings joy in our lives. We often forget to be grateful for what we have. Thank you Marty for being a wonderful teacher and for sharing this treasure with us!

Hey Marty, thanks for all the free lessons on line. I have looked at a lot of instructors on you tube and by far you have that gift to teach. Thanks for your patience and great teaching. I have learned a lot from your videos and hope I can some day purchase your material so I can become a greater guitar player. I write music and sing, so I am always looking for new ideas. I like to play all kinds of music and you teach in the same way. You're teaching has been a blessing to me because it equips me to better, more skillfully, generate music to express my love and appreciation for God to capture hearts for Jesus Christ. God bless you
    your student,

After searching the web for someone that can teach on a entry level you by far have a talent to relate to both entry level as well a advanced players. I am 60 + years old and just starting out, with your method I think I will stick with it. Thank You so Much

He mentions tuning "up" (from a lower pitch up to the desired pitch). This is a good general practice that I don't see many new players taught. The reason is this - tuning 'up' ensures that the gears of your tuning machine and the windings of the string around the tuner's post are stressed. If you tune 'down', you are providing an opportunity for the windings and gear lash to add some slack to the string (making it go flat) once you start playing.

When you said how it's easier to ride up to a note when tuning than to drop into one, that is so true. I will go so far as to drop a sharp string past being in tune so I can tune into it from below. This is because of the physical properties of wire being tightened (it will have a higher fidelity when being tightened than when being loosened.

Cheers from Malaysia. Just wanted to thank you (and Justin) as you're the only guitar teachers I've had. You've done a great job. Hope you keep it up!
