Kudos for sharing the realities of the problems you encountered. And many thanks for the detailed explanation of this complex T/S & repair process! Great insights into areas of concern on those seals. That is one beautiful tin top!

Update on update on the update on the update.. sorry it was such a pain in the butt brother.. but I totally appreciate all the work he did. I put a bottle of snake juice in the engine oil. Drove it home for an hour. No leaks, not one.. really did an awesome job and I appreciate the time spent..

Great video. You did right by your customer, thats for sure. Tried your best, fixed your mistakes, replaced, reinstalled, double checked, etc. And then you were honest about not having the time to go on a treasure hunt for the next leak.
My 87 soft top is a labor of love. Leaks are a good reason to go outside and spend a few hours with my own thoughts.

I had a leak in same area on 1.3 . turned out to be a pressure relief by-pass valve in the block that was stuck. It has a rod and spring that was gunked up. easy fix.

Man that thing looks good :) I have seen that chunk out of the oil pump on those 1.6 swaps before. Wonder what causes that.

I think who ever rebuilt the motor. Used a screw driver to pry it out?

I think they were 31s. Suspension I think it was lift springs. Spua on lift shackles.

Good thing nothing is major on these vehicles besides maybe the transmission internals.

95% effort, it's running and it stops, a little oil leak, the owner can try to find someone else to get deeper into the engine or JB Weld and send it!

Usually the brown seals are used for higher shaft rpms and are more durable while the black ones are for lower rpms. Maybe the color has nothing to do with it, but there are differences I believe
