      Avenger of Zendikar seem like a dead card in the deck. Has soon you hit 6 mana you want to Fall of the Thran and when you hit 7 you did most of your land drops anyway.
      I think you should play Lingering souls instead to help vs faster and grindy match up.

    • @ecoKady
      @ecoKady 6 років тому +3

      Ha! It's actually probably not a very good match against Tron. Tron not only goes super fast to win under a Fall of the Thran, but even if you cast it, the two lands they get back from Chapter Two of the Fall of the Thran are nearly all they need.

      If we’re being real you’re only chance is fast ramp+ghostquarter+fall of the thran. Also, they could have turn 4 not 3, maybe they play a wurlcoil instead of karn or karn and tick up. Its probably 40-60% in trons favor.

  • @jenius00
    @jenius00 6 років тому +1

    After watching how the deck plays and your acknowledgement in the wrap up, it feels like Avenger of Zendikar is just a dead card too often. Looking through the land fall creatures I didn't find anything else exciting to replace it with, but then I thought about Ramunap Excavator just as a utility 3 drop. I'd rather have a pair of those in my opening hand than a pair of Avenger of Zendikar. It might seem like they'd be competing for a congested 3 drop slot, but I'd think of them more as lightning rods for removal with some mid game utility that might just get you the extra clue you needed. I think they may appear more important to your opponents than they are, but if they stay on the battlefield they aren't just a bluff, you'll get value out of them, although less once you've run out of lands to fetch. They may even prove a viable threat from time to time.

    Hey Seth awesome work on the deck love destroying lands. Do you think there is any way of making it work in standard with World Shaper, multani and mending of dominaria? Want to make it work but also don't forget about to be dead on turn 4

      Hmm, there might be. Tatyova gives us a landfall creature of sorts and Scavenger Grounds can be a bad Bojuka Bog, the deck is just slow, with all of the important cards being expensive.

      @@MTGGoldfish yeah very much agree, maybe selesnya gives it a way to survive early on, and convoke with tokens to break the symmetry

    35:00 The opponent should not have scooped it up. As long as he had a bolt or two you could not have beaten him if you were not thinking about being careful about milling out. Which in all honesty you probably weren't thinking about.

    This might be the coolest deck you've posted on here and it might be powerful as well. But it's not budget that's for sure.

    I think he got the Pull from Eternity because he scryed Pull From Eternity to the top of his deck and then just cast the Spoils to get it immediately.

    Now THIS is a modern deck I would be happy to play. Any advice about making it more budget? I've been thinking about trying out modern with a budget list.

    Hear me out real quick... a five-color deck with each color represented by 15 cards, with the fifth color in the sideboard. Can it be done?

      Smash no because the way that math works there won’t be any pads in a 60 cad deck.

    What could your opponent side different between knowing you use Fall of the Thran + Ob Nixilis as opposed to just knowing you're an Abzan midrange deck?

    • @tommylanders1997
      @tommylanders1997 6 років тому +1

      Game 2 they might keep a hand light on lands, not knowing Fall is there to take them. Hiding information, especially your win-cons, makes a big difference in a competitive setting

    • @Atmapalazzo
      @Atmapalazzo 6 років тому +1

      The information is trivial and the board state is not beyond redemption. The matter is that there are very few (if any) cards that GR eldrazi would be playing in their sideboard that can deal with a Fall of the Thran and few unique answers to bring in for Ob Nixilis. You don't bring in enchantment hate for it. the graveyard hate typically run by GR eldrazi is relic of progenitus or grafdigger's cage, which aren't effective answers to it. Seth admitted he scoops too early and one of the biggest reasons I see that happen is his desire to keep the opponent in the dark, even if the information gained is less valuable than the chance to be up a game.

      I'm not 100% sure, but we were close to 0% to win the game, so there's not really any upside to letting them see our spicy cards.
