This is a wonderful presentation. There is so much at stake in being able to understand these differences for younger adults and newer Catholics to be able to have guidelines to form their moral compass. A problem is communication and poverty of language. "Protestant-speak" versus "Catholic-speak." My challenge was becoming informed so as not to be blind-sided while conversing with others who use the same words with different meanings and often have emotional overlays. I am Catholic and had to study deeply at an academic as well as spiritual level to be able to interact with Protestants without being horrified by their beliefs that are deliberately offensive to what Catholics hold sacred. I interact with many Protestants in various ministries who come from various ethnic or national Protestantism -- because they were born into it, or married into it - such as Dutch Calvinists, Baptist cessationists, and many more. The ministries are Christian, in pro-life (managing pregnancy centers), the "charismatic Healing ministry," as an RCIA mentor, adult catechist. I needed to quickly learn about the myriad Protestant denominations to be able to understand their beliefs to work with them. I thank God for peoole like Marcus Grodi, Jeff Cavins, Fr. The first is Baptist-based occult-rooted freemasonry versus authentic Catholic faith and the potential for moral formation. The 2nd flows from this. It is abortion, spiritual warfare caused by Freemasonry in politics, the absence of moral accountability, proper catechesis of teens and young adults, encouragement for them to aspire to marriage and creating family.

About 15 years ago, my wife and I - we are Catholics - reluctantly attended an evening Catholic Bible class. A priest was there and hardly said a word. About ten people sat around a table discussing, each given a chance to say what he or she believed the Bible passage meant. The evening went on only in that method. I, a newcomer, put a damper on their class, pointing out they were sudying the Bible in a Protestant way. The priest said nothing, the people visibly annoyed with me. We never attended a second evening.

Please, instead of trying to convince me of anything, please, just try to find the other passages, the one about works. Each passage has its own context. I’m not directly denying what you said. I just think that the passages which support that good works are as important as faith have to be taken into consideration: they can’t contradict each other. Salvation is not a single event, but a process in which we must persevere.
When we see the Lord He isn’t gonna say nothing about being a Catholic or Protestant ,Baptist or Jehova witness None of that church stuff Is HE gonna say : “well done good and faithful servant “ or is HE gonna say : “ depart from me ye workers of iniquity , I never knew you “ So let’s forget about who’s right and who’s wrong, we’re All wrong y’all , Let’s love the Lord with all our hearts ,who all our might and all our soul and love our neighbor as ourselves “

Why dont Protestants read early Church Fathers, as a rule. It seems they read only chosen Father's. If I were a Protestant, I would want to know. Afterall, your soul is at stake!
They can’t do that- the earliest Church Fathers were Catholic- can you imagine Baptists reading Iraneous of Antioch instructing the Christians at Smyrna to not associate with anyone denying the physical presence of Jesus in the Eucharist? And then calling them heretics?? :)
We don’t read “early church fathers “ because they are not inspired. We have all we need in the sacred scriptures. 2 Tim 3:16-17. Do you realize that you can find early church fathers that disagree with your beliefs. They only pick out the ones that agree with the narrative.
@@hirehammer925 When you read the Church Father's you will gind the Catholic Church. They explain how the early Christians Worshiped, which is very important. "...the church." Jesus is the head. He saves us by grace. All else is mysticism and man-made belief systems. It always gives me a chuckle when they (RCC) "read" the Bible through the lens of the RCC. The Bible CLEARLY says don't do this1 But tradition, vanity and traditions are hard to break away from.
Gods Catholic Church comprised & gave The Holy Bible to the world. Written in 325AD, canonized in 382AD & reaffirmed in 393AD & 397AD. Over 1500 years later, Protestants, WITHOUT GODS AUTHORITY, rewrote it, added/deleted words, verses, chapters, books m, giving their version of Gods words. Rev22:18-19. Jer26:2 2 Peter 1:20 Understand this first: that every prophecy of Scripture does not result from one’s own interpretation. 1:21 For prophecy was not conveyed by human will at any time. Instead, holy men were speaking about God while inspired by the Holy Spirit. 2 Pet 3:16 just as he also spoke in all of his epistles about these things. In these, there are certain things which are difficult to understand, which the unlearned and the unsteady distort, as they also do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
How can you read the Bible, see clearly the conflict with a Doctrine of the Church and what Christ or one of the Apostles is saying and still believe the Hierarchy of the Church? Take for example 1 JOHN 7-9 is in conflict with the Doctrine of Purgatory developed by the Church in 1264 AD. 7 But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus *cleanses us from all sin* 8 If we say, “We are without sin,” we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we acknowledge our sins, *he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing*
Purgatory has nothing to do with forgiving or cleansing us from our sins but everything to do with the attachment to sin. I think you misunderstand what Catholics believe about purgatory.
@@TheCordialCatholic Typical Catholic, when you are short on an answer, you make it up as you go. Showing me anything that validates your answer in Scripture? Why are the passages where it’s written more important than the ones where we can read that works are as important as faith and they go together? Before asking this question, one should try to understand the real meaning of works. Otherwise the Scriptures would contradict their own statements.
@@manuelpompa-u5eFaith and good works go together. Plain simple. Depending on the context, Scripture emphasises one or another. Besides, good works and works of the Law are not the same and many think they are. Considering them the same is a common mistake which leads to wrong interpretations.

Yo, Brother, i sense that you have great hatred towards the Catholic church, i can understand, I have to read versus thru my Catholic ideology because remember that the Bible you have was first a Catholic Bible approved in the council of hippo by Catholic Bishops in 393AD until 1500 years after when a psycho immoral herectic called martin luther decided without any authority to change a few verses because he says so, a reformation known better today as a deformation that caused many wars and hatred among christians, the devil enjoys that. But thanks to the the internet, there are Catholics coming out of the woodwork to defend the faith making protestants nervous because in today's world there are more protestant convert to Catholicism more than ever, you see God uses the devil for a greater good, Jesus founded the Catholic church(please feel free to google that) so when martin luther decided to change doctrines he was really saying that Jesus got it wrong, that is blasphemy and heretic. When I say i will pray for you it is genuine because that is what we do, in fact we pray for everybody even our enemies, It is called the Rosary which is based on scriptures of the New Testament, therefore my brother there is no fallacy involved. I hvave to be honest, i don't know what you mean by Acts 10 since it has nothing to do with our discussion but i am happy that you have read it. On Matthew 17, about the transfiguration, you can see that saints Moses and Elijah who both were way long gone before Jesus, and are actually interceding with Jesus before the Father, Moses and Elijah seem very well alive right? Same as the intersession of saints for us as well, yes God is the only mediator and yes you can go to God yourself, " No one comes to the Father except through me"-(John 14:6), but there are many ways to Jesus for example When you ask a friend or family to pray for you or loved one, you making that person a a mediator, simply said. So, Brother, if you come to this channel to try to voice your hatred against Catholics and truly believe that anyone is going to follow you, don't get your hopes up. The Catholic church has reigned for the past 2000 years and will continue strong for evermore. I invite you to come and listen to a Catholic Mass you don't need to do any tything or pay a quota, it is for free you don't need to pay to hear the word of God. Don't waste your time answering back because i will ignore your comments, it does not have a place on this channel, in fact it is a disrespect. God bless you brother, well wishes and prayers still stand. Amen
Trick question. You have to let the Pope read it for you and "interpret" it. Hey, maybe in another 1000 years you guys will finally have a complete "interpreted" Bible?
Historic Protestantism does not now and has never taught “Bible alone”. I am surprised that a gentlemen of his educational background would continue to promote what he must know is false. If he was honest with his listeners he would point out that Sola Scriptura has nothing to do with biblical exegesis and therefore is not about achieving uniformity. He would also not push out the over used trope that Sola Scriptura simply means that the Bible is a “rule book”. That is utter nonsense. The magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church has not achieved uniformity any more than Sola Scriptura. Millions of Protestants around the world believe that the sacraments are a means of sanctifying grace and that Christ is present in the Eucharist. Millions of Protestants reject the notion of mere symbolism. There are now and were in the early church different views on how Christ is present in the Eucharist. Transubstantiation was not known in the first century. Historic Protestantism does not teach that the entire Bible must be taken literally. Surely this gentleman is being disingenuous when he throws out anti-Protestant caricatures like that. I expected better from him. He just pushes out all the over used tropes and caricatures.
I don’t know what Protestant churches you have attended. I have gone to Protestant churches and they all pick and chose what verses they want to believe in. It all depends on the Paster. This is why there are so many different denominations.
@@sandrametcalfe7483 You may have attended Evangelical churches but many of these fail to meet the criteria for being labeled Protestant. Many Evangelical churches do not refer to themselves as Protestant. Contrary to what you have probably been taught, Protestant means more than simply “not Catholic”. I can assure you that in classical Protestantism (Anglican, Lutheran, Reformed), the pastor doesn’t “get to decide”. Even in Evangelical churches there are theological guard rails in place for church members so no, each person doesn’t get to decide “what to believe” apart from the Eldership of the Church and the doctrinal standards employed by that church. I can almost guarantee you that if you surveyed the statements of Faith published by most Evangelical churches there would be significant uniformity. You are promoting a caricature. If you stopped and asked people coming out of a typical Catholic Mass a substantive question on theology or church teaching, you will most likely get 100 different answers so please let’s be real here.
He spoke from his own experience. Just because your "high chuch" experience has been very different doesn't mean you should misrepresent what Bergsma was saying. Take it up with your evangelical non-denoms instead of criticizing someone else for sharing their own experience and background. No Catholic would EVER dare accuse sola Scriptura of having anything to do with "achieving uniformity"! lol. Sola Scriptura is the father of endless diversity and thus endless various heresy. So not sure what you're talking about there.... "Transubstantiation was not known in the first century." Bergsma actually proved this false by citing Ignatius who died in the very early 2nd century. The views of Ignatius, Justin Martyr, and Irenaeus are much more directly evocative of transubstantiation than whatever high church variation you subscribe to. Moreover, having seen many of your comments on this channel, you fail to grapple with the necessary issues of authority and unity.

I, a newcomer, put a damper on their class, pointing out they were sudying the Bible in a Protestant way. The priest said nothing, the people visibly annoyed with me. We never attended a second evening.
How can I get one of his books
how about reading the bible as a Christian?
Only difference is appts which I might need a bit more help....but we'll see....
My back is getting better with pills and rest. Tomorrow to go out... that I need to do...I will do according to the time you have.
I can break up things as we go,-- depending on your availability. Only need what you can do to take me somewhere...I can see about who can get me back.
I want to see this man debate James White on the subject of the Romanist church doctrines. Or everyone can watch the debates already on UA-cam.
It could have been better should your interviewee be the one to tell most of his encounter and how he is now as Catholic in line with Catholic teaching in comparison with his former protestant faith
John Bergsma has many videos where he talks about his conversion. Search for him on UA-cam, you'll see them.
The reformation of the one true church was never needed but it was the people who left the true church that needed to be reformed, who can understand this let them understand with the ears and eyes of the spirit
When we see the Lord He isn’t gonna say nothing about being a Catholic or Protestant ,Baptist or Jehova witness
None of that church stuff
Is HE gonna say : “well done good and faithful servant “ or is HE gonna say : “ depart from me ye workers of iniquity , I never knew you “
So let’s forget about who’s right and who’s wrong, we’re All wrong y’all , Let’s love the Lord with all our hearts ,who all our might and all our soul and love our neighbor as ourselves “
I would like to mention this and that is why did Jesus Christ institute the Eucharist at the sacrificial meal and give it to all those who were present there before he went to his heartless cruel merciless vicious torturous death from gethsemane to the mount of the skull or Golgotha this something worth looking into, thanks for your blessed video yeah Amen 🙏

When you read the Church Father's you will gind the Catholic Church.
They explain how the early Christians Worshiped, which is very important.
They also help other Christians to understand the Scriptures.
You need to remember that these men were taught by the apostles.
Who better to teach us?!?
@@rosiegirl2485 who better to teach us but those who were inspired and the Holy Spirit.

He saves us by grace.
All else is mysticism and man-made belief systems.
It always gives me a chuckle when they (RCC) "read" the Bible through the lens of the RCC.

Jer26:2
2 Peter 1:20 Understand this first: that every prophecy of Scripture does not result from one’s own interpretation.
1:21 For prophecy was not conveyed by human will at any time. Instead, holy men were speaking about God while inspired by the Holy Spirit.
2 Pet 3:16 just as he also spoke in all of his epistles about these things. In these, there are certain things which are difficult to understand, which the unlearned and the unsteady distort, as they also do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
it's better to have a million denominations seeking God, than a single denomination steeped in sin.
7 But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus *cleanses us from all sin*
8 If we say, “We are without sin,” we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
I'm a Catholic with a Catholic College education, 4 years of painful years theology classes, there is no justification for the doctrine of Purgatory. The NAB Bible is running away from the Doctrine of Purgatory every argument of Catholic Apologetics is blown away by their study notes.
@@billsmith147Luke 12:41-48 is just one of the examples of teaching on purgatory. You have one servant that will be cut into pieces, another severely beaten, another lightly beaten, and another set over all the master's possesions, depending on what they did and the intent they had behind it.
Matthew 12:32 says there's a chance for forgiveness "either in this life or the one to come."
And of course there's 1 Corinthians 3:15.
God bless!
@@1901elina The 3 Scripture quotes you gave as a defense of Purgatory are weak and lame, and are not used by Catholic Apolgetics in defense of their Doctrine of Purgatory which was declared in 1264AD when the Church was still burning people at the stake who disagreed with their teachings.
@billsmith147 When a dogma is officially defined isn't the first time the belief was held. After 4 years of theology classes you should know this.
And the Reformers were violent too. Luther supported German princes kiIIing 100,000 peasants who rose up against them inspired by Luther's teachings in 1525, and approved of the beheadings of Anabaptists in Saxony.
The English monarchs Henry VIII and Elizabeth I kiIIed Catholics. Elizabeth hung, drug, and quartered priests.
John Calvin was the persecutor in Michael Servetus's trial who disagreed with the trinity and got him put to death. About which Calvin said "Whoever shall now contend that it is unjust to put heretics and blasphemers to death will knowingly and willingly incur their very guilt. "
So please go back to the drawing board with your one-sided, tired attacks.
INCORRECT! the new testament clearly says salvation is by faith, NOT works, at least 5 times.
Why are the passages where it’s written more important than the ones where we can read that works are as important as faith and they go together? Before asking this question, one should try to understand the real meaning of works. Otherwise the Scriptures would contradict their own statements.
@@cleberferreiradejoao1306 you are very confusing and very vague.
@@manuelpompa-u5eFaith and good works go together. Plain simple. Depending on the context, Scripture emphasises one or another. Besides, good works and works of the Law are not the same and many think they are. Considering them the same is a common mistake which leads to wrong interpretations.

Yo I got sick just reading that title- this sounds awful. We destroyed icons in the OT dawg, we can’t keep worshipping them.
Yo..first of all us Catholics don’t worship idols or saints, that is the biggest misconception of the Protestants and those who don’t read the Bible, it’s a passed down comment of misconception and a quicker way to talk down about the Catholic Church, if you have any doubts I urge you to read some books on the subject with an open mind, ask a priest, a Catholic friend but don’t knock it till you try it. So, For the meantime… as a Catholic, I’ll tell you something maybe you never heard before, …I’ll forgive you for your remarks and I will pray for you.
@@Gil-co5ye Yes please pray for me, I do need it. Also pray for yourself because what just did was false piety.
You’re not morally superior for saying “I’ll forgive you and pray for you”. It comes off as fake when you say that. If you have to say that, it’s likely not genuine, especially after giving the broad-blanket statement “you don’t read the Bible enough if you disagree with me”. Which is a total fallacy on its own btw.
@@Gil-co5ye Read Acts 10 and Matthew 17 for yourself- without the Catholic Church’s ideological lens. You wanna know what God thinks about the images you serve? Those chapters say it all.
R U kidding? The Catholic Church doesn't want us to read the Bible! We might get ideas!
Ideas of what?
Nonsense
"Transubstantiation was not known in the first century."
Bergsma actually proved this false by citing Ignatius who died in the very early 2nd century. The views of Ignatius, Justin Martyr, and Irenaeus are much more directly evocative of transubstantiation than whatever high church variation you subscribe to.
Moreover, having seen many of your comments on this channel, you fail to grapple with the necessary issues of authority and unity.
