Till took vocal lessons for this album.
The line "I see your face in the mirror" gives the whole song a twist. When you look in the mirror, you usually see yourself. So it's not two people, but one and the same person struggling with inner longings.
"German is such a bright language". Yes, very well put. It's somehow clear and precise. Gotta love it.
I love when Till really sings. I found out that he & I are the same height, maybe I've got an inch on him ha. But I was also a swimmer but not like to the level he was at!
I can hit the low notes, speak enough German to get by & I've had a pyro licence. Female rammstein cover band lol
you really need to listen to the piano version of "Mein Herz brennt". Till's voice is one of a kind in this song and all the vocal coaches go crazy about it.

Funny you mentioned Olympic cause I read that Till was shortlisted to go to the 1980 Olympics in Moscow but he either didn't because of an injury but I've also read that he got in trouble because of an adult magazine? LOL so yeah he literally does have Olympic size breath control 😍
You even had a look at the lyrics. Not many reactors do this. But to understand Rammstein it's really necessary. But you should always read Rammstein lyrics as a poem and you should read the poem till the end. Then you don't miss the line 'I see your face in the mirror'

I like the original way more. I admit it's a decent cover but 1. I don't like nina Hagen that much (but love apocalyptica ) 2. I just love tills voice.

There's a Rammstein bloopers and fails video on here that proves undeniably that Till uses prerecorded vocals at least sometimes. Here the chorus is playback - it took a *lot* of takes to get it in the studio and no way could he guarantee being able to reproduce it reliably. Practically every band uses playback at some point - even if just to fill out the sound. No shame in that.
Not to mention the toll it would take on his vocal cords to sing like that, concert after concert when they are on tour. No, rather they use the tools available, and we get to keep Rammstein intact for the foreseeable future.
Would also like to add he rarely uses playback. I wanna say the intro to Rammlied is playback and there's a part in Keine Lust(I think?) so it really isn't all that often
Funny you should say that. He was an Olympian level distance swimmer. He was supposed to be on the 1980 Olympic team but had an injury to his abdomen. I've always looked at developing those muscles in childhood and learning to breath that way doesn't go away. I haven't subg in 20 years, but I can still hold a more longer than Bruce Dickenson because that is just how I learned to breathe.
Honestly Till is more than a vocalist he's an artist.

Rammstein is one of my favorite bands and my dream would be that one day Till and Tarja make a song together, I would like to hear the contrast of their voices. There is a video on UA-cam that a fan made with onhe dish, mixing Till with Tarja's cover of that song but it would be amazing if it really happened.
On the german Wikipedia it sais he wasn't allowed because during a contest in Italy he left the hotel without authorization and bought merchandise from the "Klassenfeind" (class enemy, he grew up in the GDR, so it means capitalists).
Great reaction and commentary, really liked it! If you like Till's melodic voice, you definitely have to see Rammlied from Madison Square Garden - it was an opener for this show and it is just pure energy! I'm sure you'll enjoy it ♥️

Please react to the "Alle Tage Ist Kein Sonntag" cover by Till Lindemann & David Garrett and the "Lubimiy Gorod" cover by Till Lindemann(which even has a live version from the Spasskaya Tower Festival. Video of it is uploaded on the RammWiki YT Channel). These are 2 classical songs from the 1920's & 1930's. And recently the music video for the song "Le Jardin Des Larmes" by Zaz & Till Lindemann was released, so it would be great if you could check that one out as well.
Those songs are very different than what he usually does with Rammstein, but they really up focus on his vocal performances, without having this heavy music behind it.
Btw. Has any "vocal coach" or "singer" that reacted to this performance ever picked up on the fact that the line "Ich tu dir weh, tut mir nicht leid. Das tut dir gut, hört wie es schreit" is playback? Sure, none of them knew the studio version prior to it, but shouldn't experience singers, kinda be able to differentiate between live singing & playback, considering how clean it sounds, and it sounds 1:1 equal every time that line gets sung during this performance?
the chorus was pure playback, the studio vocal track. tills vocals were absolutely not cut out for this live at the time, and he sometimes sang the chorus along with the playback, and it sounded very very labored and off key - so that shows, he cares a lot and did not only mimic it. mind you, the dude is now in his 50s, an obvious hedonist, likes to 100 % live like he wants, drinks, smokes and then imagine doing world tour legs with such a physically brutal show. very very demanding. at least, for the 2019 tour he seemed to have curbed the smoking and worked to get his voice back from this wheeze to his wellknown powerful baritone. he deserves a lot of respect and tolerance for such "outtakes" and his unwavering discipline in performing.
There are regions in Germany where the rolled "R" is in the local dialect like Frankonia and the upper Westerwald.

you have an german accent, rammstein is no me(n)tal porn. it is pure art. you listened to some music of them. you know that germany has not so much so deliver in the world. rammstein is underrated in our country. sick, they are so done for germany, thank you all.

German is the exact opposite of French. You know, a French person can say the worst things to you and it still sounds fantastic. It sounds more like a melody. It has a flow. In German, there are micro-pauses between words so that the listener can distinguish the words exactly. That's why it sounds like dog barking to non-German speakers. But that is what makes it so special and precise. That's one of the reasons why it was once the language of science.

I like the review but the translation of the lyrics was somewhat off. While often the play on words obviously gets lost in translation (i.e. Wahl der Qual - the choice of agony- a play on the German expression Qual der Wahl [agony of choice - 'spoiled for choice' ] ), I feel like a lot more could have actually been preserved

@@gabyp.4822 It's not a claim, it's a straight fact. Rammstein uses playback in songs like every single artist out there, they are not special at all in that matter. ITDW was almost always playback during the chorus. Same with buckstabu during the same tour, and with songs like puppe on the most recent tour. You can just go and see for yourself, compare two different concerts, start the timer on when he starts to sing and everything will line up and be exactly the same in length and power :)
Heck even some of Keine Lust performances was playback, there are clips where Till just gives up singing and just goes along while the playback plays lmfao.
Does that mean everything is playback? no. Does that mean Till can't sing what he does? no. He just saves his voice and uses playback in parts he feels uncomfortable singing live like every single artist out there, he and Rammstein are no gods :)
