- For my Presets visit: johnnathancord... Jake let me borrow his @TwoRockAmplifiers Traditional Clean amplifier (the successor to the Two Rock @johnmayer signature - allegedly....Anyway, I'm enjoying it, and was noticing there's a huge amount of energy in the low end. Is there any way that the Helix or HX Stomp will get close?
Admittedly this is with my low amount of expertise, I imagine someone actually good at this stuff will be able to do a far better job....
Jake Loosemore's demo here will give a good overview of tones with various pedals in the style of the man @John Mayer

This preset is called "Twoish" - let me know if you want me to drop it into the bundle, and also if you want a Pod Go version?

I ain't never seen nobody milk the Helix for content more proficiently that this man.....
people actually might stay to watch cos the playing is so insanely good
@@glzz1115 JC sure knows his scales, phrasing etc... Remember, it's not the size of the scale is how you use it!
Dude I’m so glad you did this, Where The Light Is is the holy grail of Strat tones, nothing even comes close if you ask me
Unquestionably
John just to clear up the legacy, the Mayer Sig was developed from the base tone of the Custom Reverb Signature, ie without the cascaded gain, with a fair few changes. At some point Mayer sent his Two Rocks back and had them modified slightly and those changes became the Crystal. Two Rock then sold to Premier Builder's Guild who continued the Crystal for a while. During the sale back to Eli & co the Crystal got updated a bit into the Traditional Clean, which lost the contour knob and regained the switches that were present on the Mayer Sig. Also during this time the cabinets changed, from ceramics to alnicos back to ceramics.
also yeah drop it in the folder I could use a practice version of my Crystal lol
Whether or not it’s spot on to the Two Rock, the HX stomp sounds fantastic here. What a brilliant clean tone.
YES, to making a version for the Pod Go!
The Pod Go is not seeing enough attention imo.
Sounds killer John would def appreciate if you drop it in the google drive folder!
me 2!!!!!!!!!! hahaha
Me three :) looking forward to tweaking this all day tomorrow.
I fourth that
@@mgie22 I got y'all fifth
Me fifth. XD lol . 🥳
Sounds like you were able to get pretty close. A Program/plugin like Ozone EQ Match would be able to display the differences in tone and even get a closer match. I'll have to try out your settings to hear how close I can get it through my gear.
Big shout out to Jake for letting John borrow your beautiful sounding Amp, and letting us on the Channel get a chance to hear it being played by someone whom we have an appreciation for their skills and tone. 👍😎
Happy birthday Igor! 🎉
This is a very "real" sounding preset :) can't wait to download this and have a fiddle with some settings :) cheers!
It is fantastic man! Please go for the POD GO!!
That is why I like Helix. I'll never be able to afford a Two Rock....and I don't have a friend willing to loan me one. :)
These tools make me nuts.. Such a jack in the box.. Thanks for the comparison.. That tone is Sunday morning, pre coffee! Lol
Another banger. Thanks for all you do!
Absolutely love the tones you're getting with the Two Rock. I love my helix and powercab and for a 3rd of the price it does nicely but I'd trade them for a Two Rock combo in a second.
As good as it gets, I have been following you with my Pod go, is a LOT of learning, Thanks. Greetings from Mexico
Listen through your phone speakers for real results. I.E., how it sounds out to a small PA in a bar 40 feet from your table while some drunk guy is yelling across the room and Karen is over your shoulder trying to find a manger. Stomp wins just for ease of use loading and unloading. Otherwise, indistinguishable.
That’s damn good, please drop it in the folder !
My french croissant melt back into butter while listening to this tone. Amazing !
Oh hell yeah, in the bundle please!
I think your experiment with the Ethos and the Iridium got really close to my Two Rock Studio Pro 35. I mean really close!!! Sounded fantastic.
sounds great JC. love all you do
Dear John. I would also like a pod go version of this patch. It sounds great. Excellent work.
Great work as always. My 2 cents is it sounded more realistic when the bright switch was off. Just my 2 cents...
Great sounding preset! As soon as I saw your Two-Rock demo I created a Helix preset trying to get the vibe. I used a dual amp setup using the Cali Texas for body and Deluxe V for sparkle. The Retro Reel can add great thickness (no flutter). I’d love to send you my preset. Maybe I’ll post it on line 6
The Retro Reel is key to getting closer to real amp feel and sound. Without it, many of the patches in the Helix are just too shrill.
Emilio where do you place the Retro Reel to get that effect - if you would post it up and let us know where your preset is that would be great.
@@jetset9561 retro reel after amp and cab before modulation, delay, verb. I’m using stereo but I don’t it’s necessary. I turn way down or off wow and flutter. Saturation 2 or less. Texture 5 or less. Tape speed to taste, I like 30ips. If I’m using a little wow and flutter 7.5ips
It’s subtle but when you turn it off you want it back on.
I’m still working on a preset.
WOOF that little run at 7:30 ish sounded so good
I was able to follow the video pretty well to get the settings, and ended up with a sound very close to what you dialed in. The two distortion effects weren't too hard to dial in. The use of Dual Cabs produces an interesting result, perhaps making it sound more like a "real" Amp. I also rolled off a little treble with the tone knob on my guitar to get a closer tone match. Thanks
The two rock sounds awesome
Very good work here, definitely drop it into the folder. Sounds pretty useable to me!
Man I'd love to see you do this in the fm3 :)
Sounds really close to joey landreth type tones so great job, as always!
7:23 Your channel is a wonderland.
HA!
Took your preset and played around with it. Love the tone, but I'm missing the famous "massive headroom" and volume. Disclaimer: I've never played a real Two-Rock, so take my idea with a grain of salt. I replaced the Litigator with an "Ampeg SVT Brt" bass amp [Dr: 1.6, Bass: 2.5, Mid: 4.1, MF:800Hz, Treble: 8.0, ChV: 10, M:10] and to my ears there is a lot potential to bring it close to the Two Rock with EQ adjustments. I'll experiment a bit further; boosting bass on the amp side instead of the +12db on the LowShelf, for example. It takes the pedals just wonderfully and has an immense headroom + volume. What do you think?
If it works it works!
I don’t know if it sounds exactly like the Two Rock or not, but it sounds great to me.
I'd be great if we could make one block out of any combination. Squish all that into one block lol food for the future
But thanks so much for showing the nitty-gritty settings, speakers and all that stuff. At least it will help get me started. I play more of a es335 style hollow body, and my Helix has not been to friendly with it. In fact, most modern tube amps seem to have been dialed by their designers for LP's, tele's and strats and not hollow bodies or semi-hollow bodies. That's frustrating. Nevertheless,, I appreciate all your Helix videos as line six is the easiest format to understand, a revolutionary KISS mix of old school and high tech.
Sounds great! Please drop this preset into the HX bundle.
Sweet I love it !!! Would you please try to CAPTURE that two rock with Quad the Cortex for pristine clean ???
fwiw, since experimenting with my HX Stomp, I found running it into a crown power amp and customised Fearful Bass 3way cab I made which has 15" celestions gives the helix a super fat low end that it lacks through some of my more traditional setups. IMO it makes it sound closer to my amps in the room which have 10 and 12" cones...
Maybe something to consider if you haven't run it through a 15" with the helix before?
My second thought would be that I found some of the amps on the stomp with more straight ahead EQ sections are easier to dial in the low end is that the Q or mid frequency points arent quite where they are on the amps.
PS chuck it in the folder :)
Love it.. Nice digital, there is no end!
Do the same with the FM3! Guess that you could get closer with its tweaking capabilities
Man, that's a really nice tone.
Just last night (after watching Loosemore's video) I tried using an IR of the g12-65 speaker, as Two Rock amps use a modified WGS version of it, and I think I got my favorite litigator tone. It has way more low end and less highs, so you can boost the treble without it becoming too bright.
which IR did you try? And yes a G12-65 is the one, I'm not sure there's any in the stock cabs?
@@johnnathancordy I have the DLX RVB 112 pack from ownhammer and it has the g12-60 in the 1x12 DLX cab. Some other pretty cool speakers in the bundle as well.
You're definitely convincing me to go digital...
Great video, it was helpful
Folder drop please!
Is this patch in your JC lead patches on google drive?
Great stuff. Love the offbeat. Knocking on 30k’s door, I see 🙂
Hey, nice tones! I bought the bundle but think i did something wrong. I only see the expression bundle in my drive. Can you help me? Thanks in advance :)
Hey Quinten! Drop me an email at johnnathancordy@gmail.com if I haven't emailed you the full bunch yet?
@@johnnathancordy Hey! Thank you very much for the reply! I received the email already. Sorry!!
I use a eq block with the low end boosted adds the amp in the room feel.
That's what I do here too!
S.W.E.E.T!
just buy the patches for hx stomp, but there´s no twoish for stomp, just for helix
Hi Johnathon. New Subscriber and new HX owner here. If you could drop it in the bundle please that would be wonderful. Hello from Canada.
Hi John
Just bought the bundle, not sure how this works. I will get a link in the email?
PayPal email name was different?
Yeh look for an email from me!
Challenge: sound like Matt Schofield
I failed :(
@@johnnathancordy bummer :-)
John can you make one rig two Rock for headrush
Great as always John, so inspiring. One question: I suppose you are using an external looper and drum machine, right ?
I program the drums in the DAW and assemble the loop manually
john can't find you in your bundle google drive. Did you drop it ?
It's called Twoish, and is in the 3.1 folder - let me know if you can't find it and I can email it?
@johnnathancordy Hey John Why u are not breakdown Jack Gardiner tones or solos ? He is one of the best like you
Jack does that himself!
Sent you Payment for the patch via PayPal but I haven’t received an email to the link yet….
I've just emailed it could you check your spam?
@@johnnathancordy that’s it through now, thanks 👍
Love this John! Is it possible for you to do a Tomo Fujita's tone sometime? For example the tone in this video: ua-cam.com/video/4dupGktvi0s/v-deo.html. Thanks!
