After almost 40 years struggling to get a single pull up, going for more than 20 years to the gym, and even having a personal trainer for a couple of years, I finally was able to achieve my first full pull up using the method Greasing the Groove, as described in the video, for a week or so with a pull up bar at my home. Now after achieving that milestone is much easier for me to build up on that and increase my number of full pull ups gradually.
I’ve been trying to women who do calisthenics for a while and I’m astounded I only found you just now! Thank you for having this YT channel and inspiring folks like me into getting into calisthenics. I actually just achieved doing two pull ups in a row last week and I want to push forward to at least 3 so I can start including them as sets in my strength routines. I started doing aerial silks last month and I think it’s what really helped me get that second pull up!
I had never been able to do a pull up until I joined a climbing gym...one day a year after casually climbing 2-3x a week, I busted out SEVEN pullups and was blown away. The key is simple consistency, just like everything else!
This channel saved lives. Not survival, but living.
Literally. ❤
These are some of the best videos for female calisthenics lovers on UA-cam! Love your work! Thank you for sharing!
Alicia! Thank you so much for your comment. I quit my job to pursue this full time, so comments like these really make my day as I get my channel off the ground
@@Summerfunfitness Oh wow! I know that’s a big jump but I have to say I’m excited because that means we get more of these videos from you! Thank you for being an inspiration and giving massive quality and value! As long as you keep going there’s no way your channel doesn’t make it big time! So happy for you! (And for us too 😉)
@@SummerfunfitnessNot just women, men also! I'm trying to get back in shape at 66! Hope you are increasingly getting successful. I feel you when you said "quit my job" especially to do something you have a passion for. Much success to you!
dont be fooled this women is sus, most likely Anavar cycles
Yo those reps are clean! No kipping at all you're super strong respect 🔥🔥 You just earned a subscriber
Thank you :)
Couldn't have said it better myself
You are hell of an Inspirational fitness. Your tutorials and everything you are sharing, very valuable. And you are damn strong, big massive respect for all your work
Thanks!
Wow!!! Thank you. I really appreciate that 🙏
Lightly training movements has been huge for me!
I've noticed improvement in my pushups and even recently achieved pistol squats for the first time, just because I'll get up every 15 minutes throughout the day to stretch and do some basic exercises, including a couple reps of pushups (done with attention to form), and some basic two-legged deep squats. I don't push myself too hard or focus on numbers of reps, yet I'm seeing improvement just by being consistent and getting a sense of joy out of feeling the blood flow through my body and feeling my muscles work.
I think a lot of exercise advice glosses over just how important it is to practice the movements with good form as consistently as possible, without focusing on pushing yourself too much or doing X number of reps. Making movement a consistent, continuous, and enjoyable part of daily life has been a game changer for me.
Goal for 2023 is to do at least one pull up. Found your channel and instantly sub!
How did it go?!
@@natalieg2976 Great. My PB now is 11 strict pull-ups.
Grease the groove really does work. I have been trying with a negative program three days a week for two months but there was no visible progress. Maybe also because it's hard for me to be consistent this way. With grease the groove instead, by doing a jumping assisted pullup with negative every time I passed through my bedroom door, after three weeks i could do one unassisted pull up almost full range (not dead hang, but with almost straight arms). The progress is visible this way
OMG that back is insane!! congrats
Thanks!
What an interesting outlook. Ive had to do pull-ups since i was 16 prepping for the Naval Academy entrance test till the time u left the Marine Corps. Never once did i say "oh, what fun. I cant wait till i can do a bunch of them..." lol.
I recently began working out. I've always been super skinny but with a diet that would kill most. pizza, 1 liter of soda everyday, never drank clear and simple water ect. I've recently begun working out, stopped drinking soda and i'm feeling so so so much better about myself. My goal rn is to be able to do one pull up. I'm working my core, arms, back and arms with the goal of doing the pull up. I downloaded your "get your first pull-up" sheet you left in the description and i'll do my best.
Thank you for sharing this video, this will help so many people. Well done!
I hope you're still working out.
This video is super helpful. I’ve been trying to work on my pull-ups for a while and this guide gives some great tips.
I feel so inspired by your videos you have no idea.. like i wanna get into pull ups now that you talked about it lol
Summer can’t get enough of your videos so inspiring your pull up form and movements are nothing short of sensational you looking toned and cut as usual such a phenomenal physique and your hair looks amazing blessings queen
Hi, when younger, used to exercise regularly and was more active. Now I'm 66 and trying to regain my youth to stay healthy. I really appreciate your information on the megative pull-ups. Didn’t think about that to get me started back to fitness! Thank you!
Keep at it! I'm 'only' 58, but I'm also about 300 lbs. I will have a way to go before I can do a pull up, but ya gotta start somewhere, as they say. I just 'discovered' the little fitness center in my new apt complex, and the big pulley machine does have a pull up bar, so that's where I'm starting!
Thanks! Thanks for the encouragement!
公園で週末懸垂してますが女性で懸垂出来る方はまだ見たことありません。
なのでここまで出来る方には感服します😊
ちなみに自分の特技は懸垂逆上がりでダラダラですが連続31回です。

I started 11 days ago, i often trained my body during my life but I never did pull ups before.. now the desire to be able to perform pull ups has born in me and strongly.. i watched a lot of videos about how to do pull ups for beginners especially because being a man weighting 95 kg so about 210 lbs i am not able to do a single rep yet but as you said i am positive and i am working out two times a week to achieve the goal so i worked out three times until now and i feel happy and confident.
I am working out in this way:
1 Warming up.
2 Assisted pull ups, 2 sets to 85% of failure.
3 Isometric hang at the top of the movement 3 sets to failure.
4) 3 sets of 5 negative reps with maximum effort from up to down
5) 3 sets of one isometric scapular pull up to failure
6) 3 sets of dead hang to failure
I'm using the reverse grip exept for dead hanging and for scapular pull ups, in time i will add pronate grip exercises
For the moment 45 minutes of working out in total (i use 90 seconds of rest between sets)
Being you advanced in pull ups what's your opinion about my pull work out? Is it good? Thank you if you will answer🫶
You are serious goals!! Such a huge inspiration ❤ thank you for your channel!
You are fantastic and an inspiration to me ❤
Tx a lot!. I know have a starting program. I had the pull up bar already but did not know how to use it. Now, i am going to jump on it each hour and train 3 times a week by doing the 3x(6-8) reps
🙏
You have good self-confidence. It is wonderful.
I'm so happy I found your channel! You inspire me to try new things! 😁

Awesome video. Great work. This will help so many on their journey. Blessings to ya
:) Thank you
Thank you for the workout sheet. I have been trying to get my first pull up for a while with no luck. I am looking forward to use your program and let you know the progress. Great content and your technique is great!!!
I'm working on one hand pull ups as my goal and never thought/heard of negative pull ups so might try that
Thanks 🙏 for your help. Has been so helpful
I love you❤
Im eager to get my first pull up and this workout program you attached here is sooo helpful!thnk you so much for the motivation you give and im on my way to my 1st pull up and more 🙏💓
Doing a great job, keep going on.... got lot to learn from you.... thank u....
Such great advice and inspiration, thank you!
I'm actually a new subscriber on your channel,i really admire your skills,i hope that one day I'd be like you, you are already on the top, keep going on good luck, hope for you , better achievements
Wow you are really strong💪
Thank you for the video. I used to be able to do 8 pull ups with one negative at the beginning for warm up when I would climb the rope without hands in a nearby park. Now, I can do 0.9, since when I pull, my chin is so close to the bar and I could only pull up when I kip which I heard isn’t the best muscle strengthening exercise. I love your advice and maybe I could get my pull up habit back.
Excellent presentation! Thanks. 😬👍
:)
for us it seems like in school they will grade the pull ups on PE and as a girl i never really tried to do pull ups i hope this will help me and still thanks for this video it's awesome
I can't even do a full push up yet, so this is something to look forward to in the future 😅
You are really lean . I can see every ripple of muscle on your back when you flex.
Ive been training muscle up for years. I can still only do band muscle up.
You are ridiculously strong . For your weight and height
Thank you :) It might be time to ditch the band if it hasn't yielded the results you are looking for. You could try my muscle-up workout if you're looking for something new. ua-cam.com/video/tIMKuNPqcFA/v-deo.html

With the band it's like a game it's like a game I can pop up over the bar bar up-and-down up-and-down
❤❤ ur great trainer
Gonna give it a go!! TY ❤
Thanks for sharing.
SCap pull down
Negative pull up 6-8 reps 2m rest
1 hour session ast least once a week
Negative reps for any pull exercise*
The lat pull down machine is basically a pull up machine. Start there. You can do normal sets of 10-12 reps, but also do some really heavy ones with 3-6 reps. Maxing out your pull strength there is where your gains will come. I'd stay away from the assisted pull up machine as it just reinforces weakness. Instead, spend that time at the bar. Just hang on it and mess around and have fun. Do scap exercises like shown here. Do negatives. Do isometric holds it you can. Get that grip strong and be comfortable being on the bar.
JUST ONE WORD FOR U ...WOWWWWWWWWW
You are my Super Star - ! - . Thank You for this Lesson .❤😊
I'll have to use some of these tips!
:D
Great video❤Kim
I'm so motivated
I just found you. This is the best advice I’ve found on the internet! Thank you. What kind of sweatpants are you wearing in this video?
Tall girls or boys can do incline/decline push ups. When the time comes for the girl or boy to pull them selves up on a roof on the job the mind and body can do it.
Você demais em tudo 💪🏼🔥😍👧👏🏼👑
I got my first pull-ups over a week ago, been doing negatives so long I didn't realize they'd paid off, now anytime I'm around something I can use for a bar I start doing reps, my arms are totally gassed by pull day but my numbers are going up. 😂
In small pots the best ointments😮❤❤❤
🎉🎉❤summer❤❤
you inspired me and now im at 6x +30kg pullups 😊
I don’t have a bar to do pull-ups and this looks hard too
Awesome!
:)
I’m going to give it a go. Hope to follow up on my comment shortly after I get some results. 😅
Totally, with grease the groove and negatives I could make it, now the problem is go beyond 5
Hi Madam Summerfunfitness,
I saw in the middle of your video a pull-up bar that can be put over a door. I am interested.
Can you tell me where I can buy this pull up bar?
My home pull up bar is from Pullup and Dip :) www.pullup-dip.com/us/doorway-pull-up-bar?sPartner=summerfunfitness It's actually on sale right now. Discount code Summerfitness10
Hi I am on my fitness journey and would love to become a pull up girly. Your video caught my eyes. Would love to start practicing from home. You mentioned about an equipment “pull up and dips” and at home bar. Can you help me figure out the equipment for pull up you mentioned on your video?
@Summerfunfitness
Good work! What is the blue backless top in many of these clips?
Not to put down other female fitness UA-camrs; I feel like you are one of the only few to be qualified on teaching this. I seen saw many “how to do pull up tutorials.” And most them can only do four…and they are not strict most of them have scapular elevation in all their reps. I’ve seen one where the person can literally only do two. The fact you can 16 pull ups and do 10 muscles ups with great form is insane
Is she on steroids?
@@user-gj4ez6qj2z hard to tell….i say natty but you never know…
@@user-gj4ez6qj2zI’m 100% sure she’s natty.
No she's not on steroids
If you watched a lot of her calisthenics videos from oldest to newest, you can see by her physical development that this individual is natural. Why, cause her physic is relative always the same size and not radiculously big, veiny, disproportionate etc. So don't be a hater. Woman better that 90% of all other youtubers regarding training... in fact it is why I decided to start! and I am a man... just impressed with techniques xxx
I still can't do pull-ups, but I still can't do jackknife pull-ups (Can I skip jackknife pull-ups?)
i just bought a bar and i just hang there it hurts!
Thanks Summer! 🤗
I have struggled with one area of the pull-up and that is that mid-point. My negatives are really good now, going slow for 10 seconds. I can do 8-10 chin-ups, but I know those are different muscles. It’s just that transition spot where I feel weak, and if I can get past that couple inches, I know I can get there, then head to my high pull-ups. I don’t think strength is my problem. Am I supposed to be focussing on doing something in particular at the transition point???
I’m in the okangan too 🥰

I have one tproblem about Summerfunfitness channel. It is that there are about 50x too little subscribers.
Hi Summer ,
I am new to calisthenics , as well as that I am 59 yo . As where to start is so confusing . My ultimate overall goal is full body conditioning , however , one pull up is my first goal.
I don't go to gyms , been there ,done that. My main ? is which is better to do ? Active hangs or dead hangs ? do they have different effect or the same ?
Love you videos , others say '' do this'' , ''do that '' , without the detailed explanation which you give .
u r a very strong woman
😁😁😁
Fierce...stunningly beautiful...inspirational.
I can't 😢
does using your gym's Assisted Pull up and Dip Machine get you to eventually doing a pull up on your own?
I don't recommend it, as it removes the instability aspect of a pull-up.
Nice place! Do you live in America? Finland?
Canada
Nice Place!
I have the exact same Pullup & Dip setup! You might want to check where the grip makes contact with the doorframe. Mine had eaten its way through and was starting to damage the frame. Some insulation tape where it makes contact seems to have fixed it.
Have you found a way to practice chest to bar pullups on this bar? I'm not sure which grip to use so I don't bump my head. 🤔
We may be different heights :P I can do high pull-ups on the lower bar ua-cam.com/video/hX25-nMbjvs/v-deo.html
@@Summerfunfitness Thanks for the tip! It looks like I just need to lean back a little to avoid the attachment ring. Super helpful to see it done on the same equipment. 😄
I want to buy parallel bar, what should be the height from floor and distance between 2 bars
👍😎 💪
These tips which u provide here for girls only Ma'am??
Just asking cuz I'm a boy but can't do pull ups so I thought maybe your goals to help women? Or it's helpful for men too?
These tips are the same regardless of your gender. My goal is to help beginners.
@@Summerfunfitness ohh ok, i can do pull ups but only 2 or 3(maximum if I push myself) , but the problems is I get tired very soon. My wrist create some pain..😒
Just tell me how to increase pull ups, I mean how can I do more pull ups? Any tips or advice, please help me Ma'am 👏😒🙏
You could try the emom method. Do 1 every minute on the minute for a set period of time or until you can't do any more.
❤👌🏆
omg im so mad i cant open cans all the time!

okay but people keep telling me that those at home pull up bars fall down
If you get a cheap one then for sure :P Or if you swing on it heavily. You could always secure it with a bolt.
I can do high-pulls up using momentum on mine, it's never fallen down.
