The novels are definitely worth reading, even if you only read up to volume 12, where this season ended. There is so much cut content and that's not even mentioning the fact that 90 percent of Rudy's inner dialogue gets cut from the anime.
The author's favorite character is apparently Norn. If there's a sequel, she's the MC. It's mainly because of what you said: she's the most normal out of all the cast. It gives her an inferiority complex, literally an average person in a world of gods, geniuses, and fucked up people. She is one of the best characters to follow ngl
Mushoku Tensei season 3 cant come sooner, even though they changed or removed stuff from the Light Novel, I still liked this season. Solid 8/10. season. For you Anime only peeps, season 3 is gonna be fucking wild.
3:16 so you find it weird that if Sylphie was in the same position as Roxy, seeing Rudeus dying from depression, she wouldn't have tried to sleep with him if that was presented as an option to save him just because he has a pregnant wife waiting for him? That seems like the easiest decision ever even for someone with monogamous values, and in this case it is a world where polygamy is normalized.. And no, Norn is not one with a "sane mind" here, she is just more similar to the real life morality from twitter users. In context she is being hypocritical, out of place, and a religious nut. She would never say anything like that to her perfect daddy who has multiple wives, she is literally used to that already. She isn't really very religious, she is just finding fault with Rudeus and using her religion as an excuse. She is basically invalidating her sister's entire existence during that whole convo. And she is pushing her believes into others, remember that most of what she said was not about Rudeus cheating but about him taking a second wife, even when Sylphie stepped up Norn continue to tell her what to do "Just let her go", in the LN Sylphie even reprimanded her at that moment for her harsh words. Btw, this is not a critique to Norn, her reaction makes sense for a 10yo who just lost her father and who doesn't have the full context of the situation, she doesn't know that Rudeus spent days without eating or that treating depression with sex is normal for adventurers. Maybe if she saw how bad he was she would be angry but not lash out like that.
