I was very hesitant about getting white seats and a different paint than the free silver kind, looking back I wish I got a black performance model with white seats.
Thanks for the great overview. We got our 2020 model Y without ever seeing it just based on knowing it was built on the model three platform and was easier to get into like model X we’ve got almost 60,000 miles on it. I traveled from San Francisco to over the Rockies up to Canada down to San Diego. Absolutely love it, it’s so comfortable that we named our Serenity
I have a 2022 Model 3. I recently bought an iPhone 15 pro Max. The phone dropped blue tooth connectivity while I was out of town. I called Tesla service for help. I was told by the technician “I spend half my day helping iPhone 15 owners. It’s an iPhone issue, as there is nothing wrong with your car.” Have you heard of this problem? I eventually did get my phone to reconnect. Thanks
Thanks for this video!! I'll be looking to purchase my first car all on my own next year and I keep coming back to Tesla. Looking into the M3 or the Model Y. I'll still look into other EVs but Tesla is at the top of my list
Don't forget that Tesla charges a $250 order fee for every order. In addition, you must pay the taxes, license and other fees through you app before taking delivery. If these fees are not paid promptly, Tesla might still charge you these fees and you will have to wait up to 90-days for reimbursement of the taxes, license, other fees as it may cause you to place another order. Every order will cost you these fees. The $250 fee gets transferred to Tesla no matter what you do and you will never see it again. Tesla will schedule you for a delivery time for which you must be there promptly or earlier or they may cancel your order. I know someone who was late and Tesla cancelled their order and took the fees of more than $3,000. They are still waiting for reimbursement less the $250 order fee. On the subject of range inflation, Tesla is in a class action for inflating their range numbers. It will be interesting to see how much Tesla has to pay their owners for this...
Hey Ryan, can you do a video on the Tesla wrapping service out of the two SoCal service centers? Would love to know the quality of the wraps, the painted PPF in particular. I see many people are angered by the cost but Tesla’s pricing is actually very competitive compared to reputable wrap shops up in NorCal.
Re range, EPA's website and the Monroney label included on the car's window sticker ONLY show COMBINED city/highway range. If you drive mostly highway then your range will obviously be lower than the combined city/hwy range. If you drive mostly highway AND you drive faster than the speed used in EPA's testing, then your range will be even lower. The EPA sets the rules and manufacturers have to follow them. Your range may vary (and typically be lower). IMHO, I think the EPA needs to start including separate range estimates for city and highway instead of only for combined range driving.
Great breakdown! I've been thinking about getting an EV and Tesla's always been on my radar. The Model Y seems like the sweet spot for me - practical, good range, and not crazy expensive. Love how detailed you got with the pricing and different trims. The tax credit info is super helpful too. Quick question - how's the build quality these days? I know Tesla had some QC issues in the past. Appreciate you taking the time to explain all this so clearly!
“All electric cars known to underperform EPA range estimates in real world” very bold statement but I happened to know it’s not true. Have you checked BMW iX EPA estimates and real world range? Or Porsche Tycan or BMW and Mercedes vehicles?
If I buy a Tesla in inventory but it's located far away, can I have it delivered to a closer location, they are not showing the option for having it transported.
I've heard conflicting info on EV tax credit for MY. You say all trims qualify. I've heard from other sources that RWD and LR don't qualify. I guess we will see in 2 weeks.
Thanks Ryan, would you ever consider doing a used Model 3 buyers guide? With prices dropping below the new M3+Tax Credit pricing, they are becoming increasingly enticing. Thanks!
Just don’t. Would you purchase a used old phone ? The range is never the same as new but if you don’t care and drive very little then to each it’s own. You’ll only save like 5k ….
If Tesla doesn't cut prices because of the tax credit issue, it's hard to imagine people buying the M3 and M3LR when the MY and MYLR will be cheaper. I also expect some people to buy the M3P over the M3LR.
We actually have been getting our EPA 270 miles out of our RWD Model 3 for over 7000 miles. It could be that our commute keeps our watts per mile below 200. Does the base model RWD Y have the same battery as the RWD Model 3?
Yeah that must be it. Under 200 implies most likely urban and short commutes. My wife's M3 RWD averages about 217 over the first 5000 miles (primarily urban commute but occasional freeway use at 50+ mph), and she's getting about 267 per charge now. I believe the Y RWD does NOT have the same battery pack (LFP) as the M3 RWD which is a disadvantage since the 260 EPA advertised gets cut down to about 210 usable
Happy 2024. Regarding the Wall Connector, you missed the Universal Wall Connector (essentially the traditional Wall connector with the "magic dock" feature of select Superchargers). It costs at bit more, but has an integrated CCS connector that is securely stored in the unit when not in use.

Quick question Ryan. I noticed in this video the option to subscribe to enhanced auto pilot. Do you know the market (states) where this is available in the US?
I’m not sure where i heard that if model (3/Y) hit a pothole or any kind of pump model (S/X) will avoid that by utilizing the air suspension! Most EV channels were talking about it for a while but then none mentioned it again, I tried to find any info about it but couldn’t find, is this true ?? or I was dreaming for some reason 😅 I assume this was maybe a year ago.
