Leaving June 17th going in for my 7 day briefing tomorrow morning snapped a pic of my packing gear from before and my updated packing gear after this video to show to my recruiter to see what he thinks between the 2 gear sets. I have been doing 20 min basic body weight workouts via youtube videos that I have been following and going for a zone 2 level jog for about 15-20 mins a day. I am not quite at the level of readiness to score a 75+ on the PT test but I figure BMT will get me the rest of the way there. I am 34 years old and I can run 1.5 miles in 15 min I can do about 25 pushups in a row and about 35 situps in a row. Apparently to reach a minimum score of 75 I need to complete the 1.5 mile run in under 14 min need to do 27 pushups in a min and 42 situps in a min. So surely PT 5-6 days a week at BMT for 5-6 weeks before the final fitness test should get me the rest of the way there right?
Yea youre good, looks like youre on track, the PT at basic is structured for people that never worked out in a very long time. So youre already ahead on your PT scores. You will do 2 progress PT checks 1 week youre there then another PT progress check in your 3rd week. PT is monday - saturday unless scheduled differently for summer. 1-2 run days per week. If you can max your push ups and situps and do a 14ish 1.5mile youre fine. i maxxed my push ups and situps for the 25-29 age group and did a 14:20 1.5 mile and got around 80ish points i think. Just keep pushing yourself but dont wear yourself out, you should be fine. final PT test is the week before graduation.
Also remember whatever you buy at tech school either has to be shipped home, taken with you or thrown out. Some tech squadrons allow you to sell stuff that was not issued to younger Airmen in the squadron.
Correct at sheppard we had a discord channrl for AIT's to buy/sell or drop stuff off to donate to the airmans attic. During Tech school thats why its just wise to just save money and only buy what you really need since you maybe moving overseas or a states away.
Gotta love that Old Spice all-in-one: bodywash, facewash, shampoo, dish soap, engine degreaser, sink cleaner, toothpaste (if you're brave)! Taking into consideration how much weight you might lose in BMT, What are your thoughts on just buying new civies at your tech school BX/PX/NEX?
I don't think buying civies while you're in tech school would be worth it, you may lose or gain the weight back depending on how you really motivate and manage yourself with as much freedom you have within Tech school. And you're in tech school for only 2-4 months depending on your AFSC/School house so it wouldn't be worth it to buy new clothes, would just another thing to worry about and to pack once you graduate tech school and move onto your first assignment. I would just wear whatever you decide to bring to BMT and whatever else your parents or family may send you once you're in tech school. Then once you're settled at your first assignment i would decide around that time to redo a wardrobe or so.
Leaving tomorrow, oh boy. Anyone else get that black pit filling in their stomach 😂. And I get to go in with a slight advantage that a lot of people don’t, my father was in the military so I know what it’s like more or less, I still feel extremely nervous
Just keep and empty mind, just do as youre told, dont feel like you have an advantage because the expectations from when your dad was in is alot different now. So dont make yourself a target thinking you know what to do ahead of time. Just listen, take it all in, you got this. Congrats on qualifying!! GL

Looking good man! I just finished watching the other video you made and was making a list then i saw this so i had to redo my list hahaha. Best just bring and uses glasses till you get issued your Basic Training glasses
Do you get the binder from the bmt or did you buy it online? also do you ever put bank information in that binder, or just keep that at home? also I have same shoes as you lol.. but they are white lol.. I don't mind getting them dirty.. thats fine right?
