Just got out of BMT a month ago, this is based on my experience 4/20 - 6/10. And my experience was pretty much this: No need for that many shirts. Dont bring too many pairs of underwear, while you can wear your own underwear, they are not an authorized item and cannot be anywhere besides the back half of your security drawer and for us at least, the back half was nearly full towards the end of BMT, just deal with how uncomfortable the tighty whities are, or buy some of the authorized tighty whities at your first BX run. Dont bring a sweater, cant wear it anyways. Don't bring makeup, you can only wear a tiny amount of concealer as far as I heard during graduation. Dont bring a clipboard, you get your own. BRING INSOLES!!! Boots hurt and most injuries happened after being given boots. No need to bring nail clippers unless you want your own, you're issued some. For people who wear glasses and are not vaccinated or choose to wear masks, get some fog block, it's super humid in the morning in Texas! Essentially: Pack lightly, dont make it hard on yourself!
@@alyssadeleon9487 You definitely can! However, you have to store them in the back half of your security drawer, which gets very filled. They aren't authorized underwear in the clothing drawer so they have to go in the security drawer.
@@sarahy4813 Bring enough for 3-4 days! I was a special exception because I wasn't there the first day (flew in from overseas) so they disregarded me 😅 I was in civvies for almost 2 weeks. As far as tennis shoes, please please please bring your own tennis shoes. Make sure they're only gray, white, or black, all 1 color. The BMT tennis shoes are insufferable. Bring any specialty hygiene products you feel you might need (You will be provided with most hygiene products you need, deoderant, sunscreen, toothbrush, toothpaste, nail trimmers, floss, not sure if females get anything different) and maybe a single sweater/jacket depending on the season
I just graduated from BMT and trust me when I say that’s all you really need is a lent roller, some soap and enough bras and underwear to last you the entire time your there. Your only going to be in civilian clothes for 2days, your going to be wearing pt gear all day everyday until you get your ocps. I definitely overpacked my bag for bmt and I regret it, I had to carry 4bags to tech school 😥.
You do realize the Air Force has given you the perfect job of Public Affairs, correct? You are so comfortable on camera and great at explaining things very throughly. I honestly can see you doing news briefings from the Pentagon.
You're definitely over-packing (excluding female stuff). Most of that stuff you can get at basic. All you really need is enough clothes to last you 2 days. Any other things you need you will either get issued or you can buy at the BX. I understand having that feeling of "what if I need it" cuz I packed a lot when I went in and I honestly regret it. One thing you have to keep in mind is that you're going to start a new routine. One that will have you skipping something you normally do at the comfort of your own home that you can't do at basic cuz you're being rushed. Or something you thought you'd never do. And you'll learn to get used to it. Cuz that's the military way. You'll understand once you're done with basic. Good Luck!
I know I am probably over packing haha. I have friends graduate recently and I'm going off of their suggestions 😅 I'll make an update after on my experience and then things I didn't need 😅😅 Thank you for the insight!
This is a great list Makenna! I would suggest getting a small mirror with magnets on the back to stick to your wall locker. It makes doing your hair in the morning faster, because you won't have to fight for a sink. I would also suggest tape instead of a lint roller, you can use it to remove lint from your clothes, and prevent your BMTSG from ripping.
I don't understand why people would say "Don't being a clipboard". Out of everything, it was easily the BEST item I that I brought. Maybe because you can buy one at the BX, but because of Covid we didn't have the opportunity to go to the BX until our 4th week. So I was the only person to have it. That probably has changed since last year, but still, better to just bring it. This is a fantastic packing guide. Honestly, everything is spot on. Only thing I did different is I chose to bring no cash and not deal with having to write down the serial numbers of each bill. You can use card for purchasing anything, so that was just one less thing to worry about. But it's probably safer to just bring a bit of extra cash for sure. Will absolutely recommend this guide! Well done!

You’re definitely going to find those envelopes and stamps more useful once you’re actually at BMT. Those letters from home are what help get through those weeks of not being able to talk to anyone. 📮
That’s what sandboxx is for. If you watch the sponsored segment. Sandboxx let’s your family send letters to you from their phone and provides a return envelope for the trainee. Hence why you don’t need envelopes if your family/friends send you mail with sandboxx 😃👍🏼
Hey very cool deal glad I subbed. Was wondering what you could take. Was watching one of Kyle’s older vids and he said they wouldn’t allow underwear. Guess things have changed though which is a relief. My favorite underwear are one of the few things I can’t live without!
PLEASE pack light. We were only in civilian clothes for three days before being issued our pt gear that we wear all day everyday lol. Females I would bring extra bras and underwear they seem to get lost or taken. Toiletries are issued to us as well as a clipboard and you only need a lint roller when your tested on open rank week 5. During zero week the mini mall comes to our squadron so you’ll get the chance to buy the things you didn’t bring. We washed our clothes everyday so you don’t have to worry about not having clean clothes. Keep in mind that when you graduate and go to tech school you’ll have to carry a backpack, duffel bag with your ocps, blues, shoes, coat ect, and your civilian bag. Depending on where your dorm is located you might have a little ways to walk with all of that. I was in Disneyland so it wasn’t too bad. Good luck to everyone heading out to bmt!
Do you have a current packing list or packing video that’s not private? I would love to know how your packing would be different now that you’ve been through BMT
Makenna, ask Kyle when did the Airforce change its rank structure, served in the Marines 1969- 74 1 tour of duty in South Vietnam, my brother in law was an E4 in the Airforce in the day that was a Sergeant, I came home as his body escort.

I work with TSA and that bag is over 45 linear inches. You need to edit the video. That bag will be checked and you will not be authorized to take that in the cabin. What is linear inches length + width + height. If you exceed 45 linear inches it’s a checked bag. I know you are trying to provide accurate information. I figured I would help out. Good video by the way!
Yeah she can get it tagged and leave at the jet bridge before she enters the plane. I always do that to avoid the hassle of checking in a bag and finding space in the overhead

Wouldn’t you use your PT gear as pajamas so in the morning you spend less time changing? Also I suggest bringing earplugs if you can’t sleep with loud snorers
She's actually referring more to before BMT and early on at Tech School. During BMT, we wore PT gear as pajamas but it still didn't matter sometimes because we'd go straight into uniform... come back, shower, then do PT. After BMT, a lot of us just used our PT gear at Tech school until we went shopping or had stuff sent to us.

Also thank you for your future service lol and the information you are helping us ladies with because I will be going as well and needed some tips lol
Im gone in 9 days i was talking to sgt davidson im suprised sgt wheaton isnt back
Ssgt Wheat moved! Best of luck to you!!
We leave in 25 days and you’re already packing? I thought I was excited bug you’re on another level lol!
Dude i was waiting for a ship date since June 2020 and ive had my bag ready since lol
I leave in 18 days. I've been packed for a few months haha. I just hadn't made my video yet lol
We have the same ship date and the exact same adidas bag for our packing list 😂
hahaha nice!!! Goodluck at BMT!!
What bag is it? I feel like the bags I've bought are too big or too small. 😅
Dang, I need to start using that Tiger Balm after my runs
YESSSSS
Is that really allowed at Bmt? I thought no medical sort of things. I would love to take some too but I’d hate to have it taken from me. I leave in a little under 2 weeks! 💃
@@kates3691 Hi did you end up having it taken away from you if you brought it? I leave in a month!!
Hey! I remember watching a newer packing video, but I can’t find it?? Can you repost it if you deleted it? Or do an updated one? I swear in in 2 weeks
Hey, thanks for the video first off and second where did you get those zip-up sportsbra?
Please what's your update about the bmt packing list to know what was necessary and what wasn't necessary, thanks
Can I bring sleeping shorts that is above my knee cap and must my shirt be black or white, can I have a navy, gray, military color. Cause I already bought them do you think I could still make use of them after even if am not allowed to use them in bmt? Please some one help me out
Can you bring your own laundry detergent if you want to? Either a small/travel size or a regular size detergent
Thanks for the info. I going to BMT soon. 😅
Best of luck!
@@AirmanVision thanks!
It's still not a guarantee that you'll be allowed to wear them, it may depend on the MTI and if they let you, but take them just in case!
you really gettin me nervous lol
no reason to be nervous! haha
Thank you so much for these videos can you a follow up after you returned plzz ❤
Thanks for your insight!!
Just graduated and got to tech school
awesome!! congrats!!
@@AirmanVision Pensacola is nutz
thank you
So, since you’ve been out of BMT for a bit now, when do you think you’ll make the updated list?
Do you have a current packing list or packing video that’s not private? I would love to know how your packing would be different now that you’ve been through BMT
Same here. I can't open the updated video. I am shipping out in a week and I would really need an updated video on what to pack or not
Makenna, ask Kyle when did the Airforce change its rank structure, served in the Marines 1969- 74 1 tour of duty in South Vietnam, my brother in law was an E4 in the Airforce in the day that was a Sergeant, I came home as his body escort.
It’s changed as recently as the early 90’s I believe. E4 is a Senior Airmen, E5 is a Staff Sergeant(First NCO rank). Im AD Air Force.
You're probably talking about a "Buck Sergeant". It's 3 stripes same as a senior airman. They got rid of that title tho.
Loved the video! My only concern was the scissors. I 90% sure those aren't allowed at BMT so they might take those from you, but I might be wrong.
I got those last minute bc someone told me to take them! and as usual I say better to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them! haha
If they take anything, that is totally fine! but I'll take it just in case!
Can you bring face moisturizer and like a cleansing balm to wash off the sunscreen?
Yes.
I appreciate the info! The dimensions for my bag are 20”x 12” x 12”
@@nicolem6109 This is if they have room in the cabin of the Aircraft. If they do not they will throw it in the belly of the Aircraft and treat as a checked luggage.
@@marktully391 Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. I travel a lot and only take a carry on bag now.
Did they let you keep all your travel size toiletries? Leaving in 25 days
Are a pair of scissors allowed? I mean arent scissors prohibited at the airport?
Packing list? Dang they put me on a plane and said good luck.
nice!
Which training location are you headed too? and also is it still issued to wear masks upon arrival?
Air Force is back to having only one BMT location, at Lackland AFB. Covid is a problem again nationwide, the DoD issued a memorandum that all federal personnel must wear a mask indoors and when in formation.
So yes, masks again. Regardless of vaccination status. Tragic.
Wait how do you pack your makeup w your quart size bag? I only could pack body wash, 2n1 and hair gel
A fellow nctzen in tha force🤭🙈
Hi, I tried to view your updated but video but it says that its private and unavailable :/
"a little bit of makeup"
**12 products**
Shipping July 20! Loadmaster here
Hey, I’m shipping the same day! Language Analyst
Hey! I also ship July 20th! Command and control battle ops
I know you can’t bring contacts to wear everyday but can you wear them for your pictures?
Can’t say for certain but you might not be allowed to, that’s what my MTIs said but carry them in case you’re allowed to. Flight rules can be different.
I am only taking them to have at tech school, not to wear at BMT
@@AirmanVision oh okay! I got excited about wearing them for the pictures lol
You’re not supposed to, because dust and such might get into your eyes. I don’t recommend wearing it during.
Anyone leaving August 3rd!?!?
Which sports bras did you purchase and how are they? Been on the hunt for some that would support my c cup chest :)
She got Target’s All in motion bras
ah, dang! I meant to mention that in the video. I'm a DD 😳 I got these at target!! (It was pretty pricy to get to many, but these gave my the support that I need) www.target.com/p/women-s-high-support-zip-front-bra-all-in-motion/-/A-77641037?preselect=77347051#lnk=sametab
Nike! I’m a D/DD and the tight Nike bras are really comfortable, breathable, & have support!
Why Is the updated video privated??
Where is the new packing video?
Are you allowed to use unscented moisturizer such as cethapil for airforce bmt?
What size duffle bag is that one?
I was on my way to meps and Biden signs a bill for holiday tmmr rescheduled to Monday....
Quick question, is it allowed to bring wet wipes or is it purchasable at BMT?
You can bring them and they are available at the BX
@@Mwdhandler2023 thanks man, appreciate it!
Do they teach you to do push ups or is better to be prepared
ALWAYS better to be prepared
Do you think we can bring white shirts to bmt?
yes!! there isn't a specific color, I just chose black
I would say if you overpack for basic then you are we’ll packed for tech school
Especially when you are start to wear civis more and go out etc
I lowkey should of brought my Jordan’s and Xbox instead of having it shipped to me in technschool
Would of saved time and money lmao
But yes this list seems to be a lot
But trust me it is not compared to going to your first base after tech school
Can we bring natural supplements or heat patch?
they won't let you have any medication that you don't have a prescription for. heat patch...I mean, you could try
Any recommendations for asvab studying? Interested in joining for athletic training/therapist

@@LLL-zx6dw thanks
Wouldn’t you use your PT gear as pajamas so in the morning you spend less time changing?
Also I suggest bringing earplugs if you can’t sleep with loud snorers
She's actually referring more to before BMT and early on at Tech School. During BMT, we wore PT gear as pajamas but it still didn't matter sometimes because we'd go straight into uniform... come back, shower, then do PT. After BMT, a lot of us just used our PT gear at Tech school until we went shopping or had stuff sent to us.
They say not to get branding and logos on the sports bras you get,but is it really a big deal? Like the straps saying under armor and stuff?
They don’t care what color underwear or bra you wear. Just make sure it’s not like, lacey thongs or anything.
@@Keisha_Kay32 thx!!
Just graduated basic training almost a month ago from the 326th let me know if you guys have any questions for Airforce basic training!!!!
Are all of these travel size? When we travel does everything need to be travel size? Thanks
because you have to fly and you can only have travel size liquids to carry on a plane
@@AirmanVision that’s what ai thought. Guess if I run out of toiletries I’ll just be good at the bx
when is she going ? im going to bmt on the 28th it almost seems like we'll be going at the same time
July 6th!
