@@thatdairyfarmer2847 that is true. But the quality of bagged feed is better-with near zero waste. If the waste in that pile is only 10%, that is the same as dumping every 10th truck in the landfill.
Very good except for putting soil on top of the cover! You have an oxygen barrier so two rows of tyres/gravel bags around the outside and another row across the clamp every 6m is all thet's needed.
@@bcdairybros I understand that with the usual plastic films but you are using oxygen barrier so that won't happen. As long as you get the sealing around the edges tight and some weight on the cover you won't get rot.
Love the time laps
Pls make some more videos...we wanna learn from your farm
(all the way from the Philippines 🇵🇭)
by god I never thought I would see the old fashion way off cover a pit and you kno what it's still the best way off covering a pit and there jo waste
That is a lot of man and tractor hours as well as a lot of diesel. Bagging instantly seals in your nutrients and requires a lot less work.
Ya and u need a lot of bags to do as much as they did in that one bunk

@@versasilagebaggers3492 we usually throw away less then 5% to rot/mold on the edges

A bag does not pack as well and is terrible to feed out of.
What was the brown stuff you used on top of the plastic?
Dirt? 😂😂
I have never seen anyone put a full layer of dirt on top! That's got to work really well for keeping the top compacted
It’s our dry manure from sawdust packs and such. Works well to weight it down and keep birds from putting holes in the plastic
And that vegans don't realize this is what it takes to grow their vegetables too

Soil works the best for us. Never had luck with bags or tires too much rot

@@bcdairybros We use sand but not as much. looks like a thick layer of soil, u get it off by shoveling? Also doesnt it start growing in the soil?
@@fllavour it’s out dry/sawdust manure and yeah we shovel it off by hand it’s not too much work and works well
