It's great to see how everyone gets together and pitches in and helps get everything done. We could do with a little more of that throughout this great country.
I'm impressed with your dairy/farm operation. The way you stay on top of your herd health and well being is spot on. I've been a subscriber since you started your channel and am so proud of the advances you are making to insure your business is successful and profitable! Hard work I know!!!
Cool. I liked the in-depth explanations about why you do it a certain way preventing composting, etc… neat system and seems necessary to have the extra help. Your work ethic always impresses me.
Makes my day when I log on and see it is Corn Silage Harvest time! Glad to hear the hurricane didn't damage too much. Sadly, most of the farms around here suffered from the drought this year. Should make for an interesting fall/winter. Stay safe, and happy farming!
I feel like I've seen you and your family go through the process to prep for silage so many times, that I could probably come out there and either do it myself or at the very least, be a considerable amount of help. 😂 You're educating a lot people, Eric! It's awesome! Edit: To be honest, while I didn't live on a farm myself, I was an extremely active FFA member in an agriculturally heavy area. I worked a lot of summers driving tractors, cutting fields, baling, and more. I do LOVE the smell of silage for some reason though.
@@michaelmckay that's the easiest part of the farming i think driving the tractors beside the combine is a little harder and putting the corn silage into the pit but atleast we know they know how todo their job good enough they're great at it
You took the words right out of my mouth! When I close my eyes and visualize that old silo, that distinctly wonderful smell of silage sweeps over me! One of my favorite memories! Again, love the drone footage!
Thanks for another great vid. Nice to see the mostly behind scenes crew too! There is no boring job when it's vital to the operations. Without hardworking farmers, we would be in the survival of the fittest -mood!
Thank you Eric for taking the time on a very hard hectic day to make this great video. Filming and working at the same time has got to be a lot harder then you make it look I hope you are getting enough views and likes to make it worth your while cause we certainly do appreciate it. Good job
I haven’t been this early in awhile! I loved how the farm has changed over the last few years since I’ve followed you! The video quality have also gone way up! Keep up the good work Eric! and congrats on the new barn as well!
Great video! Chopping is always my favorite time on our farm. I enjoy the fact that it's so fast paced and how coordinated the team has to be. Everybody has a specific job and they all do it well. You are dog tired at the end of the day but you ALWAYS have one or two funny stories at someone's ( usually the rookie) expense.
One of the cleanest and most efficient dairy’s around!! They are all about the well being of their animals. It’s a fact, happy cows give more milk and good silage makes really happy cows!
I don't know where you get the time to video and edit them with all that going on! Thanks for making the time to share it all with us. I, for one, really enjoy and appreciate getting to see what all it takes to get milk and cheese on the table!
Wow, just wow… Wore me out just watching. I can’t even imagine how totally exhausted you must have been after a super long day. Well played sir, well played!!
Glad to see the fields drained well enough to get equipment in there, I’m 25 miles south of you and we got 3.4” of rain and you got 7”, funny how nature works.
The vibratory sheepfoot drum roller is one of the best pieces of equipment for compaction of soil in construction. It isn't surprising it works great on silage.
My hats off to the younger generation farmers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for feeding my country. Continued success this country is behind you.
always ALWAYS looked forward to this day. Eric once again ,incredible job. Watching this in pittsburgh as i drink my coffee. hello from about 400 miles away!
That was awesome to see the process for the filling of the bunkers! I could almost smell it! I grew up in dairy country, Cecil County MD., but never saw it done. Thanks for all you, you family and workers do!!!
I never get tired of watching your farm work Eric. It is just relaxing. You must have quite a sum invested in plastic. Great to see all of the help working well together. Also it is interesting to learn the process of storing the silage properly. thanks so much for another great video.
When I was a kid, our silage pits were cut in to the sides of a hill. We had 2, next to each other. I drove the load in, unloaded, and left while a guy packed, spread, and another watered. I always remember that sweet silage smell during the winter!!
*There's an incredibly satisfying aspect to this entire process - it's not just about a successful harvest, but the teamwork involved is truly remarkable*
Great video of your corn silage harvest and fill up of bunkers. I especially enjoyed the drone footage you added. I hope that inoculate works well on your bunker silage. It was also great to see your family and friends all working together. What a concept for all of us to apply in our lives. Thanks!
Awesome video!! I absolutely loved the drone shots showing the feed mixing right next to the bunk being filled. All work carries on on the farm no matter what. I also loved being able to see more of your role in field management. Keep up the good work. God is using you and your channel as a source of encouragement. The beauty of your fields, farm, and herd give glory to His creation.
I soooo LOVE your musuc choices for your videos! Such a refreshing change from all the others. Keep it up! Oh, and I noticed your ring. Silicone? Awesome choice to keep you safe on the farm because danger doesn't take a day off!
It must be a big relief when the bunkers are full of high quality feed for your dairy cows. Now a cover crop just before winter. Great video Eric. Aloha and God bless you all.🙏🙏🤙🏼
This is your best harvest video. Thank you for the extra work and creativity to make this video shine. The new music clip is great! Appreciate you all!
I enjoy watching dairy farming videos because I can relate to every aspect of it. I’ve done pretty much everything that dairy farmers do today, except I was born into dairy farming 61+ years ago. Everything about dairy farming and farming in general has improved so much since I was a boy, especially the equipment.
I just ran across your videos about 30 minutes ago and I've already subscribed. First videos I watched were the manure robots. It has got to be extremely expensive to run a farm like this. Lots of work and lots more money. Us City dwellers don't realize how much work it takes for us to be able to open the fridge and have milk. Thanks.
with all the caos and hard work going on you still managed to give us a very detailed video thanks for your hard work . now every time i get a gallon of milk i put much respect in it
Seems like some flood lights around those bunkers would be nice to have. Feeding in dark during the year but filling them in the dark in September would be nice to have some big flood lights. Just a thought. Good work Eric.
I appreciate your dedication to your channel! It might sound boring or weird that people would watch you work on the farm, but you must know most of the world now is far removed from where our food comes from that information they may get out of context they can be deceived to believe something that isn’t true about food production and farming. You are helping educate, anyone willing to watch, those who have no understanding of how we get our milk, cheese, yogurt, and many other products we buy and enjoy. Thank you. God bless you and your family. ✝️❤️
I’m maybe too late Eric for this year but we use a double plastic layer. The first one is very thin and clear. Almost like Saran Wrap. It sucks down to the silage. We’ve used it for 5 years now. We pack with a magnum too- no sheep’s foot or second tractor. Last year we had one bucket of spoilage I think there was a hole in the plastic. Hope this helps someone. Its highly recommended by me.
Very good video as always! One thing we do on our farm is that we take some silage (old or new), put it in our food mixer and unload it on the side of the bunker. We usualy take old corn so we can do it before the harvest starts. Anyway, good luck for your futur videos and again, very good video you did there!
I know that it was hard to film and do all the work it takes to do what you did that day. Thanks for including us.
The footage and explanation of your silage harvest is the best I've ever seen here on UA-cam! Thanks for going the extra mile, Eric!
The camera shot around 4:10 with the silage falling like confetti. Great work!

Always amazes me that those walls take the weight of the crop and the big gear rolling it, they look so narrow. Cool vid again matey!
Long day and it starts all over in the morning. Dairy farming is sure a lot of work. Thank you for all you do to keep fresh milk on our tables.
One of my favorite smells in the entire world. Brings back memories of riding with my grandpa pulling a 2 row silage cutter behind his 4430.
