One of the top 5 albums in last 50 years....incredible...yet no one knows about it.......every song just cranks...on to the next one..etc..etc....screw the critics...this one is just sublime!
@@Neil2022 Id never heard of them till recently except that one song of their name, which I didnt know their band name, and I am very big into rock. It was a treasure to discover all of this. I was born too late to really see them. I think they are underrated compared to many bands people know that werent as good. Solid bangers on so many tunes.
What a find ! Brilliant ! Am feeling slightly old...I remember this when it originally aired. Friday evenings Channel 4 5.30 to 7pm. What a mind blast ! Was lucky enough to see them live many times from Dec 84 through to 2000. Best live band there was in my opinion.
When you were younger, you never thought you'd ever wanna go back… You just wanted to keep marching forward. Look at the shit show we're living now and at least you have these incredible memories. That's how I look at it. I couldn't wait to get out of the 70s and I thought I'd never ever wanna go back.. I know where things are going and I know why and unfortunately they're gonna have to get worse before my savior comes back and cleans all this shit up. Hell, I'd be happy to go back to last month just to undo some of the crap that's going down all too rapidly.
These early songs. All of them marvellous. Come to think of it. All the later songs were marvellous as well. That's true Steeltown. Great album. Rip Big Man
Oh yes. I did tell tony this as we spent an evening on a sleeper together d day weekend 94. Does that make u smile? This is a real story. TB was not convinced. Steelown was partly recorded in abbas polar studios in Stockholm
WTF . . . I mean what the fuck are you saying ? . . . "a Very great loss" !!! NO ONE LOST anything, it was a gain for everyone. You're saying things about: 1. someone who is not here, 2.someone you didn't know deep enough to say anything about, 3. something you wouldn't have said to his face, 4. about your own selfish perspective. Think what you like . . . BUT you don't get to say whatever you like. I suppose you meant well but that's incredibly arrogant and misguided. Think about it . . . if you could change a person, or somehow change events (TIME) then that person wouldn't be the one they were. It would screw things up all around. The only way to accept a person is exactly the way they are . . . not how you want things to be. I think you owe a apology for such a statement, not to me, to the world.
What a band, I saw them live quite a few times , but they played the Tube twice and I still think they were their best performances ever , 35 years later and I still remember everything about it . And what a show , the Tube on a Friday evening was brilliant .Even if they tried to make it again, it would be crap with the bands around now !!!
Fantastic song written mainly about Corby Steelworks where thousands of Scottish folk moved there to start a new life....enter thatcher who closed Corby down.
@@robinstreets1792 In the Tory white paper of 1973 (of which I have a copy) on the future of British Steel it quite clearly states by the end of the decade Corby steelworks will close with the loss of 6500 jobs they knew what they were doing.
I just wonder if any of these people really understood what a privilege they were experiencing in seeing these masters completely turn rock and roll on its head with deeply poetic and introspective lyrics and killer drums, guitar, and bass? I miss Stuart every day. I wish I could go back in time and cross the pond and see this show.
Great. One of my favorite BC songs. TBH I get worried when I click on one of these 80s TV performances, so often it was lip sync! This was cool thanks for the post
This is one of the few BC songs where I prefer the studio version. The dense, murky, almost metallic production suits the lyrics better. What a band though, and still going, sort of.
Also, the fact that they are lazy, sullen, whiny, self-righteous, unintelligent and rather unwashed..... I think that should just about cover it... I call them "perennials", same shit year after year after year they need to grow up Instead, they're cutting their dicks off...,
Mark on the drums, what a legend. I bought a china cymbal when I was 15 just to sound like him.
GREAT FUCKING DRUMMER

One of the finest live acts.adamson musical genius !
One of the finest songs about working class communities and deindustrialisation ever written. Such a hugely underrated band
Not sure they were underrated mate. They were pretty big in the day.

Consider yourself blessed, to have the ear and the brains to take it all in. You can thank the Lord. I'm just pointing it out.🎸✝️
About Corby in England where lots of scots workers went to
I can't even describe my feelings. Absolutely fantastic
Best live act I ever saw

And if you missed it commuting home or having yer tea, it was repeated later that night too.

British Steel announces it was closing in 1979, the factory was very uncompetitive, that's what happens when something is Nationalised

the most powerful band ever. wow. what a song. so much emotion.
Such an awesome band, both live and in the studio. AMAZING 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🎸

Brilliant tune and performance!
Absolutely brilliant
Thanks for uploading this - what a great album - Stuart RIP - what a legend
Perfect band
Steeltown is a desert island disc.
Pity the music critics didn't treat Steeltown as a musical genius.
"Critics" the otherwise unemployable
Superb
Love it.
I saw them exactly one week after this was broadcast, at the Liverpool Royal Court.
Best of luck Mark with future projects👏🏻👏🏻
Big country boom.😘
My love Stu

Making history

Fkin legendary team😢
Willie Nelson has never been more proud!
Their finest with Damascus next

Vine luego de ver el video de "Superman" Troglio
Everybody thought....
So sad even without the real life story
The reason this generation is so angry is because their music sucks!!!! Bring back the 80s!!!!!
Agreed, at last back then we had people singing about what mattered to us

FIAT. Fix it again, Tony‼️
