#Grumpopoly #finale #monopoly
Every time Arin guesstimates the creation date of Monopoly, he goes further back a century. As of now, Arin thinks Monopoly was invented before the industrial revolution, next time he'll think it was made before the American colonies
Just for the reference of other readers of this thread:
U.S. patent number US 2026082 A was issued to Charles Darrow on December 31, 1935, for the game board design and was assigned to Parker Brothers Inc. The earliest known version, known as The Landlord's Game, was designed by Elizabeth Magie and first patented in 1904, but existed as early as 1902.
If they keep playing this often enough and that trend continues, I look forward to the day that Arin thinks this game predates the birth of Christ.
"Well it originated in the Roman empire, since the word monopoly is just the Latin words mono and poly which mean one and many"
Furthermore, this came up when they were marveling at the low cost, $15, of a speeding fine. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics's CPI inflation calculator, $15 in December 1935 had the same buying power as $343.05 in December 2024. That is actually a good deal higher than the average speeding ticket in the USA today, from what I can tell. One county court in my state of residence lists only $335 for going 31-34 mph over the limit even in construction zones.
Can someone please let them know that hard AI in this game means they get better rolls and the human players get less beneficial ones? Not that the trade and property AI is better/smarter?
Instead of making the opponent a better player, it just makes them luckier? That's such a cheap way to do difficulty!
@@myrmidonmamori To be fair, it's extremely faithful to the spirit of the game. The game was created to teach people that capitalism is inherently unfair, after all.
The fact that dice luck is even on the table for difficulty is ridiculous.
@LeviathanLP Happens in Mario Party as well. Harder AI tend to get better predetermined dice rolls.
Please someone tell them. I’m begging
The funny thing about these Monopoly series is by the end of the first episode, you’ve got a good idea who will win and the next 2-3 episodes are just slowly getting to that conclusion.
That is how monopoly works (and Captalism in general)
Something something more iconic duo than Arin setting the computers to Hard, and then losing his mind when he's getting whooped
Something something?
You really couldn't think of Name a?
@@HooliganDeem Course I could, but it's kind of a tired meme that always shows up on these sorts of vids. I was poking fun at it by phrasing it this way.
"I like the episode where you already know the inevitable conclusion but it plays out for a looooong time."
Thanks Billy!
Yeah, but sometimes even if you know he’s going to lose, it’s great to see how spectacularly he loses
I NEED Arin to understand that hard mode ai rigs the dice to never land on your properties. Watching him buy houses knowing they won't land is a new form of torture. 😔😔
That's insane. How did you figure that out?
How the heck do you win, if they never land on your stuff? That sounds just plain unbeatable to me.
It's well known hard AI cheat in most games.
@@TheOneFlyron I can't remember the specifics but I believe it rolls twice and then picks the more favourable outcome.
They do tend to overextend buying houses, so if you do hit them they have no buffer and have to sell (losing 50% of the value of that house every time), so they can get hit hard if they actually do land on your stuff.
Tl:dr: It's doable but it feels like complete bullshit, just put them on Medium 😅
@@TheOneFlyron It's not never, but they're "luckier" so to say. They still can roll to land on your stuff, but they're more likely to avoid it with their rolls. Idk how it works behind the scenes, but I wouldn't be shocked if it basically pre-determined the rolls with "advantage" (to borrow DnD terms). Aka, rolls twice, and takes the "better" of the two options. Which would still lead to the AI landing on your stuff from time to time, but it's much less likely.
As an aside and fun fact for those that don't know. In a lot of games like this, the visual act of rolling the dice is entirely for fluff. The roll was determined basically instantly, and the "physical" dice are just rolling to show the result of what was already determined. There certainly are games the do use the act of rolling the dice to determine the result, but tmk it's more common that this stuff is pre-determined before any of the visuals/animations even start.
New favorite thing: Arin squeaking with rage at 23:40 😂
That’s exactly what I do when I’m mad enough holy-
If there were mods for this, the background space should be orange and then we’d have a true grumps monopoly game.
Anything beyond "search & replace property name" is too much effort for Hasbro/Parker Bros.
My kink is Arin putting the CPU on hard and losing his mind when he gets wrecked by them.
I basically compare his constant repetition of this to the "I don't like sharks" comic.
2:32 Dan: once I make my move, you are free to check the king!
Arin at the start of every game: "No, NPC's on hard because there's no challenge otherwise!"
Arin at the end of every game: "HOLY SHIT, THEY'RE RAKING MY ASS OVER THE COALS!"
I wonder if Arin will ever realize setting the ai to hard just allows them to rig their dice rolls.
Any proof of that? Not asking in a hostile manner. I'm genuinely curious.
Oh, Leo and Emilian. Couple of cards.
One day Arin will learn that putting the Ai on hard has next to nothing to do with their deals/trades and literally just makes it so they have BS rolls where they basically choose where they wanna land and avoid all of your properties and land on the open/safe ones. Today was not that day.
What’s the point of hard mode then wtf
Today is football.
If this PS5 version is still based on the PC version there's a very stupid exploit they never patched: the CPU values properties at their full price, even when mortgaged. Which means if you ever want to trade with them, you can mortgage the property to get money, do your trade, and then the cpu will immediately remortgage the property, losing that amount of money.
Not only is this a good source of cash if playing, but you can do this repeatedly, to force a CPU to declare bankruptcy.
I think a full blown Grumpopoly fan game with everything modded and customized would be incredible.
Could even maybe let the patrons submit all kinds of ideas for it.
that would so tight
@@DicateauxStudio Right? Fan games are some of my absolute favorite episodes. It's so cool #1 that people put the time and effort into creating it but then #2 that the grumps actually saw/played it
If only Monopoly were actually fun to play😢
Chance Cards
- The bananas has gone bad. (Pay $15)
- The Carbuncle ate itself. (Pay $100)
- Today is Football. (Collect $150)
- Spider kisssss? (Collect $20)
@ Grumpopoly just might make it
Oh boy, I can’t wait for another episode of Arin not realizing that the hard AI gets better rolls and getting mad when they avoid all his properties
Can someone put a shock collar on arin whenever he puts computer players on hard, and whenever the computer players are winning, arin gets shocked, but when he or Dan are winning arin is safe from any shocks
i haven't watched game grumps since 12th grade and its so nice that the intro sounds the same as when arin played metroid
Welcome back, you missed a ton of memes and bangers!

Arin played "Metroid"? Do you mean "Super Metroid", or did he actually play the 1987 NES game at some point? I would love to see that!
Despite the losses, Danny *still* won Monopoly between the two of them. Love it.
Yeah, I am curious how he won between the two of them. I would think that the first person to go bankrupt would automatically make them last place
Arin is such a calm and graceful person. The voice of zen. 😂
I want someone to grab Arin at the next con they go to and scream in his face that the hard AI in Monopoly just cheats to miss all your properties.
Danny’s ‘you can make it’ to ‘hell yeah’ at 21:09 coincided exactly with me finishing my rowing workout at the gym, tysm coach sexbang x
Both Arin and Dan created this by making some truly boneheaded moves. Arin traded a yellow for a freaking railroad, unbelievable.
Ok the amount of fear I just experienced is way to much. “Alright bye arin”
Same 😅
May I ask why? Im being dumb and dont understand
@@ColderBrother98 Stop being dumb and actually think about it, bro. Cmon
@@ColderBrother98If you looked at the video quickly and just saw “Bye Arin”, you’d think he was leaving Game Grumps.
@@chrisr3788he's the owner of the company. Why would he leave?😂
one day Arin will learn that setting the ai to hard always screws them over. this was not that day
"Sweeten the pot with that brown." Is now burned into my memory, never to be removed 🤣
First ep:
"Don't put 'em on hard."
"Why? You crazy, dawg."
Final ep:
"Because that."
"Idk what I expected..."
Just another adventure for Mr. Business and The Video Game Boy
7:56
The Cyberpunk update imported some AIs from beyond the Blackwall. The game crashed from them being downloaded into the players and then having an existential freakout at being trapped in a virtual boardgame forever
Personally, I think it is very cool of Arin to put Dan in the right so many times by going against his wishes, and then having everything go wrong. It's like he's free-feeding Ws to Dan!
Bro, my notification only showed me the first part of this title, and I haven't watched grumps in a while. I had a panic attack for a moment.
Ode to Arin
Fr bro😭😭😭😭😭😭
I mean, Arin kinda IS Game Grumps, at least from the business perspective. I would expect Dan to leave before he would.
it's like i can still hear his voice
Somebody needs to tell the Grunps to rename the railroads to Steam Train and Sleepytime Junction!
Arin: Wants A.I. on hard in every game
Also Arin: "Oh no, the consequences of my actions!"
11:42 Arin so mad he's gonna shoot off some of that Fury Slurry
Grumps Course, Supermarket Simulator, Monopoly, and Wheel of Fortune.... I love grumps branded games... so much fun! We need more!!!
Oh wow, they missed the QOL update for this version. Dan didn't actually add the money to his side of his trade to Arin, but when he submitted the trade it added it automatically.
GameGrumps Lunch Break Chronicles, Day 395:
Watched Cabaret (the 1993 Alan Cumming version) for the first time last night, and I am a changed man. In other news my circadian rhythm is just nonexistent at this point. Had potstickers for lunch today. Very yummy. 9/10. I get the day off tomorrow YIPPEEEE
Cabaret is amazing! Especially that version. Glad you enjoyed it!!
I honestly love reading these little updates. Have a good day off dude!
Hope you enjoy your day off tomorrow.
great, great musical and the best version of it no less!
I hope one day you take a girl out on a date for lunch instead of posting here :)
the heat death of the universe will come sooner than Arin learning how to play monopoly in a smart way
They should add a mechanic in monopoly where you can take a loan but you have to pay it back with interest in a certain amount of turns
0:49 I really thought we were just never gonna hear Arin again after the 'piece of shit' cut out
19:37 Hearing them talk abt their new starbomb songs feels so magical, especially bc Krobus Is Hot is my fav on the new album 🙏🙏
"I'm your grandpa! I always f-'n hated you."
I would be 0% surprised if Arin and Dan arranging buildings on the Grumpopoly board became the next Supermarket Simulator.
I wish there could be more of this I will forever love watching the guys fight over monopoly and other board games I grew up with.
They still haven't learned that Hard just rigs the rolls.
My favourite episode of the GG anime, the bit where Danny-san knows he can't go on and gives the last of his strength to Arin-kun always makes me well up.
10:32 AINT NO WAY 😂 that played out like a train wreck
I hope they expand this board and return to it in the future. I dont think I've ever witnessed a game of monopoly that felt so unfair towards the players
When I first read the title, it made me think that Supermarket Simulator was over and it broke my heart! Thanks for putting Grumpopoly in the title!
Alright, bye and leave.
Danny saying he doesn't like the idea of getting haymakered and spending the next five minutes in a daze before landing on another housed property perfectly describes what Arin experienced in this episode lmao
Narrator at the end of last episode: With their plans crushed, Arin and Dan are left at the mercy of Emilien and Leo, who even now, conspire against them. Our heroes press on, hoping for that one saving grace to give them a chance at surviving the coming onslaught. But can they both hold out long enough or will they be thrown out like yesterday's garbage?
Find out on the Next episode of Game Grumps Z: "ALRIGHT, BYE ARIN." *rock instrumental*
Krobus is Hot is my favorite song off the new album so thank you for the story about the ending! Awesome to know.
1:36 Yes monopoly was made in the USA during the Great Depression of the 1700’s😂
Bye bye, Arid Desert!
They still don't know hard difficulty in this version makes the computer luckier, not smarter. The bots LITERALLY cheat on rolls to get good moves.
How do they not know hard AI just means they literally don’t land on your spaces? Seriously?
I think it's time for a character development for Arin, where he does not automatically set anything on HARD 🥺👉🏻👈🏻
"So help me God, if this douche is gonna get my stuff" is such a raw line
Arin's agony is an interesting thing
with games like mario maker, I can completely understand him. its's funny, but I actually feel bad for him
then there are games like this, where Arin makes his own life hard. for no reason.
yeah he's gettin no pity from me here^^
also I know he puts the AI on hard to make it more interesting and because he wants to get his butt rocked but it's still funny to see it blow up in his face
How bad is Arin at Monopoly? He stayed in the game longer than Dan and STILL came in last!!
As others have advised. Hard mode literally rigs the AI's rolls.
Rigged or not Arin has lost EVERY game they have played! Even just him vs Dan @lux0rd01
I swear, there is no better feeling than listening to the classy/jazzy music in this game while watching the grumps get absolutely buttwrecked.
3:20 6:12 - Hahahaha
7:24 - HAHAHAHA! This always happens
11:20 11:42 21:50 - Hahahaha, wow
23:40 24:00 - Wow, Arin, hahahaha
24:32 - Yyyooo! That's awesome
I’m screaming right now DAN YOU HAVE MORTGAGES
What a great episode. I had NO IDEA this was going to be the last episode in the series going into it. I mean it's crazy man. Who could guess that this was the finale?
Dan ending up in 3rd place is the best possible ending
I scrolled past this video quickly and read “Goodbye Arin, Grumps Finale”. My heart sank for a second.
This game was a crushing chokehold
Yes please, more Grumpopoly. Oh jeez I sound like an Ancient Greek asking for a second helping of an obscure dish
One of these days, Arin HAS to stop putting the computer players on Hard, so they stop getting all the rolls to avoid his spots... 😂😂
It’s a sad day when Arin stops being on the show but I have faith in a daily Dan solo GameGrump (singular) show from here on.
Dude, I had to look up if he announced he was leaving. Don't scare people like that
@ Yeah it was a joke. But it was obvious since GameGrumps wouldn’t continue without Arin, and Dan wouldn’t do it by himself.
What episode of Danganronpa did he break the TV?
Its very satisfying to me hearing you guys say "eff you" to the name of the third player. It heals me honestly
"Leo.. You have to.."
Why does Monopoly always do this?? 😂😂
I love how absolutely speachless Arin got after seen the end score
In the vein of new and interesting Monopoly variations, I would LOVE to see them play Monopoly on escort mode, like those Mario Party episodes awhile back where it's them and 2 easy AI's and they each pick an AI player to try to guide to victory. The very easy AIs are SO STUPID in this game; it would be hilarious.
It seems to me that a property being mortgaged has a drastically negative effect on the AI's perceived value of it. There's no way Arin would have gotten the last dark blue he needed in exchange for two bad properties and some spare change otherwise.
"Sweeten the pot with that brown" omg dan, you're a treasure
When it comes to Arin screwing himself over by picking Hard Mode, nothing'll ever beat that one Mario Party (I think) where he just confidently goes, "HELL YEAH HARD" before picking it. That's Arin in a nutshell.
Maybe Arin will stop wanting to play against hard AI from now on. Then again, it's Arin, he never listen to Dan.
I dont think theyve ever won with the green properties and yet they both LOOOVE the greens lmao always fun to watch
Dan: Tune in next time when we make the Monopoly board of our dreams!
The Entire Comment Section: NO HARD AI!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ofc you always land on their property but do they land on yours? Nope, of FUCKING course. Fucking love this game.
STOP 👏 CHOOSING 👏 HARD 👏 DIFFICULTY 👏 .......... AIR-REEN! 👏👏🤣
10:42 - WTF!! “I stood up and screamed it.”
So so happy Dan still knows how to play for ranks, keeping that cool five dollars was a pro gamer move 😂
I love Arin going off about the computers locking in worthwhile deals for each other and they do the same thing all the time
House Rule for me is the Dark Blue Properties are ALWAYS *CONDEMNED* they are broken and over powered.
Someone else already said that sleepy time junction should be a train station.
Could you also have Helena's could you let me think aboutitty bar?
It cracks me up that over the years, Arin has claimed numerous times that a game "is frozen" yet the background shit is moving and he can open a menu, effectively showing how not frozen the game is.
All too relatable "Game froze.. oh no.. I can't find 'save'.. oh no.... surely it autosaves... right?" moment :D
I just got my new glasses, I can’t wait to watch this madhouse in 4K HD
The real tell that Monopoly is out of date is that you can't rent a mortgaged property. Modern landlords buy the properties with mortgages to invest on the asset and generate revenue specifically
Arin not even trying to pay more in the auction for Park Place was disappointing. He could’ve probably out-bid Leo and the mortgaged properties afterword
"This game? It's FROOOOOZEEEEEN!!!!" - Gorden Ramsay
Someone needs to jump in blender and make the 10mph Dinos for Danny
Hi Darin! Hi Leigh!
I'm sad to see Arin go, but this was a long time coming. Hopefully Game Grumps will continue strong without him.
Best birthday episode ever!!! ❤❤🎉🎉
That plot twist at the end though 🤣 $5 can make or break a person
I hope the new board has the streets and stuff on the side, I really like that!
