My sister grew up in the 60s and went to six flags when she was young I wish I could have seen this I really wish they would have just kept the western theme(would have loved to ride the stage coach and water boats) and nations what six flags was all about and just added a few new rides to replace the old ones.
I have a copy of this map, and the copyright date on your map (not shown in your video) should be 1965, even though the Runaway Mine Train shown in the upper right did not open until 1966. I call this the 1965 "B" map. There is an earlier version of the 1965 poster-sized map (of which I also have a copy, and call it the "A" map), and it (properly) does not show the Runaway Mine Train. Several online sources show images of the published map dated 1966, which appears a little differently - most significantly, and strangely, with an older-style box around "Six Flags" in the upper-right corner. Of course, your video shows what the park was indeed like in 1966, and it is a beautiful copy. Love the audio. The mystery is why they made a second map dated 1965 - perhaps to promote an upcoming ride? < :-)
Yeah, I know about the 65B map. But most folks would better identify with 66 with the Mine Train there. It would cause confusion if I said 65. Besides, I didn't have to type so much in the description 😅
Very cool. Thanks for sharing this.
This was the Six Flags of my memories!
Takes me back!!
This is great! I didn't know Boom Town was in the park that early.
1963 is when it was added.
I miss the old Six Flags.
So do I.
