Welcome to award-winning Dusty Wings Productions! Winner of the Century Cinema Film Festival short films competition. I just completed my first season of "Small Town, Texas". Looking forward to season 2 beginning late summer. Enjoy those and my other videos about Six Flags Over Texas.... its history and its historical railroad.
American Coaster Enthusiasts' Public Service Announcements - "The Legacy of Schwarzkoph" documentary
These are two of many Public Service Announcements I produced and were selected by the producers of "The Legacy of Schwarzkoph" documentary. The world premiere was at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas and later at Fun Spot America in Orlando, Florida. I want to thank the producers: R.D. Dewberry, Robert Ingle III, Executive Producer Kris Roberry and Director Nicholas Laschkewitsch for allowing me to do this for them and then actually using them!!! It was an honor to be a part of this wonderful production. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart! Everyone else... you'll have to keep an eye out for when their movie hits UA-cam and please watch it. It's really good!

Pacing 4014 Big Boy Oct 9 2024
Переглядів 2 тис.2 місяці тому
From just outside of Marlin, Texas to almost Grandview, we paced with Big Boy. Once we got north of Hillsboro, we were cut off by a state trooper and couldn't get caught back up with the locomotive. But in the beginning we got some great shots. #unionpacific #4014 #bigboy4014 #steam #steamlocomotives

#2016 is former New Haven FL9 Diesel locomotive.
Keep your hands in the seat 😂
Like that, did you? 😄
hey, that was cool.
Thank you Sir! 😊
what the heck? lol
So could you do it?
Maybe I missed it. If it operates on steam, why does it take liquid fuel? I'm assuming that is diesel. Is the steam generated by heat from burning diesel? Since I didn't see any coal or firewood, I'm confused . As you can tell...I know nothing about steam engines.
It originally was a wood burning locomotive. It was converted to an oil burning type in 1961. The oil is burned in the firebox. The heat from the fire goes through the flues in the boiler heating the water. The steam collects in the steam dome on top and that's where the pressure builds.
Iconic and truly beautiful.
Isn't it though?
Daaaaaang... this just goes to prove I can find almost ANY of my childhood memories on UA-cam, no matter how obscure. For some reason this song has been running through my head lately, or at least as much as my brain had retained from visiting Six Flags as a kid in the late 60s/early 70s. After a quick search this video popped up and bingo! Thanks.
It's great isn't it? Glad it made you happy!
What a incredible locomotive Big Boy . You owe it to yourself and your family to see this beast of a locomotive. It is a event that you and your kids or grandkids will never forget. Make plans to build a memory. Big Boy
I caught it arriving in Spring and was going to go up to Marlin the next day. But other circumstances interfered with that plan. Nice capture, though.
Nice shots!
Thanks!
Enjoy your travel
Sweet
Awesome video, Cliff! I've pretty much driven about 80% of US 66, only missing the Illinois part and the area from LA out to the pier. Heather and I will probably drive it all in the next few years. Thanks to you and Stephanie for all your hard work!
Very informative. I'd like to drive the whole thing someday. When we were in Tulsa a couple years ago, I didn't even know how it ran through there.
If you're ever back there. 11th Ave is the later route. That's where Buck Atom's, Talty's and the Meadow Gold signs are. Admiral is where the 1932 route went. Then it changes a bit in downtown.
My grandma went to high school and lived in there 6 man football 🏈
My son lives there. He's a manager at their Dominos Pizza.
I would have liked to see the drive in from West of town down FM 515 to the stop light at Hwy 37 and FM 515. the view is very picturesque around the school areas
I'm sure it was. I just needed that opening drive in shot to end at the welcome sign. Thank you so much for watching! I really appreciate it.
Oh man what a great video! I loved all the behind the scenes stuff and I am so glad that the various “owning entities” of the park have seemingly left the railroad and its equipment alone for the most part as it is really about the only thing left that’s original. Thank goodness they didn’t paint it yellow and black and put a stupid Batman on the front of it!
Thank you for the kind words! The Six Flags and Texas Railroad is the last original attraction left in the park from 1961.
I rode this train every visit.
Love this!
This brought back some childhood memories. My grandfather was a mechanic in the Santa Fe Cleburne TX shops and worked on steam engines and the early diesels. When we go to visit him we'd go to Six Flags. I always remember him going and talking to the engine crew and they would let him ride in the engine. He loved steam engines. I can understand why so do I. I hired out for the Santa Fe as a conductor out of Galveston in 1979. There were still qualified steam engineers left working at that time. I won't forget them or the stories they told me because they knew I loved trains.
Sanding out below 130psi? Charlie would have a few words to say about that. :-) Love the video though!!!
Green just doesn't hold pressure like she used to. Getting to the sand out point at 130 is good these days.
@@DustyWingsProductions Maybe so, but I didn't see the fireman getting the firebox hot before pulling out of Boomtown. That makes all the difference IMHO. Just happy to see the old girl run and appreciate the video. Thank you! I made it a life mission to sand out at no less than 145psi. I might be a bit OCD though. I'd have to open both injectors and the dynmo, to keep from popping off. I know it's not easy on Sam to keep the pressure up when the engineer is using so much steam. I'd go into notch 3 as early as boomtown crossing as the engineer and through the tunnel until putting it into 1 to sand out. It seemed to help the fireman keep the pressure up. Now, it is harder to play catch up on CJP, but once you have 150psi on him/her, not much the engineer can do to prevent me from being at 150psi the whole run. If the pop-off valves were not teasing me, I wasn't keeping enough pressure on a sand out! Once I fired and engineered the MBL/CJP, I totally see why it was Charlie's favorite engine! :-)
This song has remained in my memory since I was a kid. It's cool to get to really hear it again. Thanks for sharing it.
You're most welcome. I kniw every time I heard it, I knew it was going to be a good day!
What did you see when the train entered the volcano?
@GiantSquid2319 At one time, there were lava creatures. It was replaced with a circus scene.
@@DustyWingsProductions you actually went on this ride?🤯
@GiantSquid2319 Yes. Yes I did. 😁
I just recently retired from the Union Pacific Railroad Shop in Fort Worth and I really love your video...thank you for sharing, now I really miss the railroad again!
I'm glad you liked it. You can always come join us!
Shithole
Very interesting!
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!
Rode this as a kid years ago, good memories, thank you. God bless. Jesus loves you!
A day on the railroad, but no mid-trip relight to wake the neighbors? Those were my favorite… It’s been a few years since I worked with y’all. Good to see some of you are still around over there. I hope ol’ Red’s running well since she’s not in the video, unless Kirby broke her. Miss y’all. -R
Red is the only one out at the moment. Sam is going through some major refurbishments
Sounds a LOT like sierra #3 whistle
This one would sound so much better if they'd back that shield off of the back a bit to allow all 5 chimes to sing out loud.
I miss this engine running I love the red engine but my favorite one is the green one though
we got a 2-4-2 tender engine oil fired
Great video! It's amazing to see those old locos running well and looking great after more than a century
I remember riding that train as a child. I'm happy to see it's still rolling.
texas rangers stadium 1 from 1972 - 1993 for 22 seasons. texas rangers stadium 2 from 1994 - 2019 for 26 seasons. texas rangers stadium 3 from 2020 - present.
Where did you find the audio at?
A friend took a tape recorder with her in the park and just randomly recorded stuff. This was 1975 I think.
Is their an audio of the full ride?
@@GiantSquid2319 No. That was just the scene at the station. That song played over and over and over and over.........
May I ask where you got the images from?
1:39 fiesta train
texas rangers has 3 stadiums in arlington tx in the dallas fort worth area.
They've had three. One still being used, the other has been converted for the UFL and the 1st one is gone
That is clearly a reflection of a candelabra. You can see the general shape too.
Yes....The lights you see reflecting are in fact a sconce hanging on the wall. There was one to my left and one to my right. But look to the right of the sconce reflection and you'll see something taking shape.
Great video. I grew up about a mile south of town. My mom is still there and my brother is CPL Thomas Hilbert. I moved away in 2007.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I was very happy and proud to feature your brother's memorial in downtown. I make it a point to highlight those whenever I can. Thank you for watching.
Hey Cliff! Former SF&T engineer brethren here, 96-99. Now a line haul truck driver moving double pups to and fro. Started there as a conductor as did my wife of 25 years. Currently injured nursing a broken wrist. Thank you and the rest of the crew for this. It did my heart good. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of my first loves Mary Ann and Lydia P. I am so amazed at how things have changed but also stayed the same. I laughed so hard when seeing the rail being greased. I thought "they will be a dropping sand later on the inside rail." Then the wheel slip in the same places followed by sand being dropped on the inside rail. I got a face full of sand by an inexperienced engineer one time during a similar sand out as in this video. They did a great job! Also loved seeing my Lydia (CJP) having her cameo at the end. Again- Thank You and enjoy it every day! PS- I got to work Goodtimes Depot, make full loops while they built Boomtown Depot and was one of the ride supervisors" there when Boomtown opened 😊
I'm really glad you enjoyed this. I started as conductor originally back in 1980 and moved up to fireman. Moved to the river for the 82 (last) season. Came back I'm 2014 and am still having a ball. If you haven't already, be sure to check out all the other videos on the channel. Lydia has her own show on one.
Been in Dallas And Lindale for a time Mineola's looking good to me, Lets hope Mineola don't go like Lindale
"promo sm" 🌟
I lived in Sanger 87-89 , the town itself was bad , just the woman I was married to was bad.
You mean the town wasn't bad? 🙂
@@DustyWingsProductions My fat fingers have no excuse. Sanger was not bad, ex wife was.
So did you ride?
Yes. Yes I did. Manged to get in on the virtual queue twice. It's an amazing coaster.
@@DustyWingsProductions That is awesome . I only want to go there for the Train and this ride
While here and up in Winnsboro, you'll hear plenty of "No, she didn't have a sister named 'Ura'." We've spent a lot of time in Mineola down in the historic district, and I just passed through recently, reminded that it's about time for me to spend a little more time at the nature preserve. I think after a hike it'll be time for a trip to CowBurners or the East Texas Burger Co. Extra points for covering the Spiders. Didn't even know about that until I stopped for the historical marker some years ago.
Thank you!
I lived in Venus until I was close to 6 years old. We had to move out of our house because it was haunted as shit and we lived on cursed native lands. Even with all the scary shit I went through there, I love Venus - there’s something special about the night sky there.
Would really love to visit your old house!
When it starts at old town thats venus
Would have loved to have seen it when it was all new and thriving. I'll bet things will turn around there as LOTS of people are moving there. New complete neighborhoods and apartment complexes are popping up.
@DustyWingsProductions yea it's growing, new housing going up several places around outskirts...
Wish the ga six flags was still steam
We really feel special to still have ours. I think it's just Tx and SL that still run steam.
1 the owners wont alow it 2 even if they did I doubt six flags would be able to get a moter in the tender anyway
Brings back a lot of memories!!
Ok i didn't know they had that i need to go now
We also have an 1897 H.K. Porter!
