Thanks for that video tutorial it was excellent on Adobe Photoshop. Greatful for the time you put into this paid tutorial and supplying to us for free.
Thanks for this tutorial. I am a newbie to watercolor - since last couple of months, i am trying to paint watercolor roses. So its about 50 roses so far..
I love you too Jenna!. I have drawn many roses, well…about 20, but have painted only 3. I watched your vid on loose peony last night and was struck by how many times you referred to “where the petals start”, I appreciated that very much because I knew you were serious about the point you were making. Now without you having to say it, I KNOW where the petals need to come from. I so enjoy the casual method you use to teach, I have a feeling that it is your natural way of being and the easy way you use to communicate with your husband. Much love to you both!.❤
Thankyou somuch, for posting all your videos, these really helping me to increase my skill. And thankyou somuch for sharing your guideline ebook for free. God bless you and your family 💐💕
You helped me so much with your rose tuition. I have tried to paint roses before but feel i am getting better each time. I am 88 years old and get a lot of joy watching your tutorials and trying to paint. I have just received your EveryDay WaterColor Book and will find it very helpful. Thank you. Maureen Granter
I think I have painted hundreds of roses. They are my go to flower. That is why I am here to learn to let go and paint other floral arrangements. Thanks for the ebooks. I can hardly wait to get at them next week.
This video got me all jazzed up to go paint some roses! I haven't tried a ton yet of them yet ... going to guess ... a dozen? Sure, that's got a nice ring to it. A dozen roses. Thanks for the video and the lovely freebies!
Thank you for your time. I've probably painted hundreds of roses. Using acrylics, colored pencils, and yes ink and pencils. What ever I had at the time..water color is new to me but I feel comfortable watching you. Actually am inspired. Again thank you.
Perfect Tutorial for my birthday today! I turned 40 today, but have actually been a Maw Maw for almost four years now. Your roses turned out beautifully! I am going to try them now. I have probably painted over a thousand roses over the last couple years, but have only been happy with a few of them. Your videos are helping out tremendously, thank you! Have a rad weekend. Much Love and Respect from North Carolina, Stacy
Thank you Jenna for the opportunity to win a delicious watercolor painting by YOU! I have painted a lot of roses but when I was an oil painter. I have not yet painted a watercolor rose yet, however, I am looking forward to using your technique and instructions and giving it a whirl. Love, love your style.
Hi Jenna!! I’ve been practicing watercolor floral for almost two weeks now. I’m such a novice, I have never painted a rose so far. I’m going to start practicing after your tutorial. I’m so excited, love all your video!!
Jenna Rainey Thank you for your encouragement Jenna!! Yes..I’m loving it. Watercolor painting allows me to slow down and relax. Please make more video, can’t wait to watch your next tutorial!! :)
I’ve painted about 20 roses none of them very successfully. I’ve painted some nice leaves from your leaf tutorials so will now try your roses. One thing I have done with my unsuccessful roses is cut some out and pasted them, overlapping, in a floral ‘altered book’ I’m working on, then I was pleased with them. Thank you for this tutorial and the ebook I’m just about to download.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, I love your style, loose and fresh, I have probably painted six ugly roses, this is the first time I like my rose enough to keep trying. Love your leaves, love you! Thank you again.
Thanks for your encouragement, Deanna! I hope this video helps you paint roses you're proud of, and at the very least, I do hope you enjoy the process!!
I've never painted in my life & like a lot of people during the quarantine I have pulled out the paints I've had sitting here for years and I've been learning on UA-cam. Thank you for all of your videos, but I especially appreciate that you show how to do the actual brush strokes as this has helped me learn so much! I've learned the most from your videos and I really appreciate you posting them! Thank you!!
I am SO glad that you are diving into watercolor during this time and that you've found my channel to be helpful!! Thanks for watching and sharing, take care!!
Love these roses! Thank you for sharing and paying it forward! I have tried to paint roses about 10 times. Total newbie! I so want to find my niche and find my side hustle. Teaching school is hard stuff! Hahaha!
Hi Jenna...loved the tutorial...very helpful. Only painted 1 rose - the one from your “everyday watercolour” book. Posted a copy of it on my Facebook page as I was so proud of it. Will be giving this style a go though as I love the looseness of it, and great practice for creating different hues and tones. Thanks again for sharing this stuff.❤️.
Sheila Moreland that’s lovely!! I’m so nervous about posting my floral attempts. “I’m waiting for “ perfect” But you’ve definitely inspired me 🌹 Sheila
Awesome, Sheila! Thanks for sharing! I LOVE hearing how you posted your work because you were proud of it, good for you! I hope you enjoy this style of painting roses as well! Keep up the great work and happy painting!! xoxo
I only painted 1 rose a few days ago. Excited about learning and painting many more! Enjoy watching your video and grabbing all your tips! Muscle memory!! Thank you for teaching!
JENNIFER!! YOU'VE BEEN RANDOMLY SELECTED AS THE WINNER OF THE ROSE PAINTING!!!!!!!!! E-mail hello@jennarainey.com to let us know where to ship the painting! Congrats!!
I've painted maybe 20 loose roses. Some turned out nice some not so nice. This video will help a lot. Practice, practice, practice. Thanks Jenna. Also thank you for the free download.
Hey, that's a great ratio Martha, of blobs to decent roses! We all have to start with those blobs and practice to make them prettier! But enjoying the peaceful, therapeutic process is the most important part! Happy painting!
Jenna, you have an amazing way of explaining, biologically and/or scientifically, how shapes fit together (especially with flowers!!!). Thank you for teaching me to see everything from such a different perspective!!!❤️
Loved your video. Probably painted 50 watercolor roses. You helped me see how to understand how to paint the anatomy of one. Thank you for sharing. Terry Thompson
Fantastic video! I love roses, so I've painted many, many roses, but not happy with most of them. Planning on painting yours...so beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
I've probably painted about 20 or so roses, but none as loose and free as yours. I'm more of a tight painter but trying really hard to be more loose. That's why i LOVE this video. Thank you for sharing and for giving back
Thanks for the tutorial! You make it all look so easy and fun! I’m a beginner with watercolor but have painted a couple of roses with acrylic paints. I just love the look and feel of watercolor and watching the colors bleed into each other!
I've only just started after being inspired by your Instagram and now these videos are a great step by step for me...so maybe only a dozen or so roses so far. Thanks for making these so accessible!!
I just love flowers. They are so friendly. I am new to loose painting..., as a matter of fact I am new to painting and drawing. Have been doing a lot of zen and tangle art using black pen and sometimes adding some color with watercolor pencils. These roses are just what I was looking for. Great painting. Thank you so much for all the wonderful information and tips. Have been practicing loose roses from watching different videos. Yours is very informative indeed.
I've tried to paint hundreds of roses since i started watercolor a couple of years ago, but have only really painted a rose maybe 4 times. I am an expert at blobs, however. Love your videos. Always learn something useful.
Hey June! I think we're all experts at blobs before roses, haha. Keep painting them and enjoy the process, and they will get prettier and prettier with practice. Happy painting!
Hey Jenna, great video. I must have painted hundreds of roses in the last 2 years. I love painting loose florals. After watching this video I understand better on how to paint this type of rose. Thank you,
Beautiful video.. I love roses and I have painted lots of them.. I have done lots of roses in clay too.. would love to paint these loose roses.. thank you for the awesome tutorial..
I just started watercolor anting this month. It’s been so interesting and I’m definitely hooked. I have painted less than 5 roses since. Your tutorial makes it so easy. Thank you.
I'm pretty sure I've painted dozens and dozens of roses but I'm always looking to fine-tune my technique and build muscle memory. Thank you for this tutorial!
I haven’t painted watercolors in 15 years and picked up my brushes again and you have helped me tremendously! You make everything look so easy and explain things well. Really enjoy your tutorials! Thanks!!
Hi Jenna! Thank you for your videos! You're right about the cloud looking flowers. I guess I've painted 3 roses. I had given up on them until now.😊 I'm going to try again.😘
YA! I am so glad to hear you giving those roses another shot! Pssssst. My next video is another tip that is helpful for avoiding those clouds and helping with roses a bit more,!
Thankyou for the great tutorial. You explain everything so well and you are so encouraging. I think these are the third lot of roses I have painted. All from your tutorials.
Maybe 30 or so. I purchased your Everyday Watercolor and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I am on the bird of paradise as of today. I am very pleased with what I have produced, so thank you.
Jenna, thanks for the tutorial. I have only been painting for 4 months, but today alone I painted 16 roses. I am starting to see how the rose "works" on paper. I'm doing mine slightly differently than you - I discovered I like my style, which is based on yours, but I don't get as big, or as watery as you. I have the courage to do this, bc I have been watching and following your tutorials (and your book "Everyday Watercolor") and I'm starting to feel confident with C curves, still struggling with S curves a little, but leaves are starting to look like leaves, trees are starting to look more like trees, flowers like flowers. I like the way you teach - you explain your technique extremely well, I can follow what you do, and try to do it myself. I have painted every day for the past 2 months, and I really see an improvement - everybody says practice, so I practice (which by the way has never ever been my strong suit - btw- I'm 69 years old, former business prof) and I'm really enjoying myself. Which is probably also why I feel comfortable adapting the rose. Anyway, I will carry on watching and painting. Thanks again!
Thank you for the tutorial Jenna! Rose is the first flower I tried painting when I started watercolor early this year. It was a challenge and still is because sometimes it would look nothing like a rose. I have painted 9 roses so far.
You're very welcome, Crystal! I hope you are enjoying the process of learning watercolor! I know when I first started, my flowers didn't look like flowers, but just kind of blobs of paint. Build up that muscles memory and keep practicing and I'm sure your roses will get better and better! xo
I'm so thankful for your videos on teaching this artform. I've always wanted learn and now you've given me the confidence. I plan on in future to pay for more in-depth learning when not so new to this, I'm at 2 months now learning. Ty again.
Wonderful tutorial Jenna. I have painted nearly 100 roses, because I did a flip-book of a rose opening/unfolding in college. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
Hiiiii Jenna! I'm sooooo lucky that i learned to paint these from you live and in person in your class a few yards ago and ive painted a ga-jillion roses since then! You are talented and adorable! 😍😍😘😘😘
So excited I found this video! I got all the basic colors and I can’t wait to try this out tomorrow. I have maybe painted 10 roses? I have no clue haha
You are amazing, Jenna! I am the biggest beginner and suck at this! You give such direction, make it easy and my type A personality is going to die! Thank you for inspiring-ready to flow
Thanks so much Jenna! You have brought so much beauty into the world. I never thought I could paint something this lovely. I hae maybe painted 6 teeny rose bud things... but now I can try to paint roses large enough to see them!
I have only just started watercolor painting... I'm currently waiting for your book to arrive in the mail. Can't wait to get started... love your style.
Vanessa Broadworth you’re literally going to love the book! Gorgeous paintings that you want to frame and Jenna goes in depth about the flower anatomy and how to differentiate between the different shades shadows values needed to paint a flower like hers 🌸
That's great Vanessa, I love hearing about people just started to learn -- have so much fun with the learning process, practice a ton, have patience, build that muscle memory, and you'll only get better with each time you practice! Take care!
I've started painting in March of this year, and since I've painted around 500 roses! and counting :) I love your book, it is really inspiring and also this videos, super useful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Hi again👻!! So I’ve NEVER painted a rose as an adult..but in grade school I’ve painted close to probably a zillion roses..with a poppy and tulip here and there. And mostly the medium I chose for crayons..neon colored preferably. But YO! I literally dropped a pretty penny in my local Blick Art Store yesterday and bought almost ALL the colors you’ve listed! Haha😅 early bday gift (my birthday is on Halloween) and late Mother’s Day gift to myself🤓. This video could not have come at a better time. So when the kids and life in general gives me the time in the day..I’m hella painting some roses 🌹 thanks to you gurrllllll!!😜 Thank you Jenna!!!! 🍓🍓🍓
Hi Jenna, thank you for the wonderful tutorial. Your videos have been much informative for the beginners like me. To be Frank I'm painting my first 🌹rose ever after the video. Ofcourse I need a lots of practice to get it better n better.😊 the free ebook had so much of content from basic technique. Thanks a lot 😍
That’s lovely ❤️ if I could go back to painting my first rose I would prevent myself from picking up bad habits. Please watch the folllow up video on the do and don’t of loose roses. I hadn’t realized I’d picked up a muscle memory for the don’t do ... have fun painting 🌹
I’d guess maybe 50 roses? Thanks so much for the video - my fave part was watching you drop in color in the centers to make it darker! I don’t know why but I never thought of doing that! Xo

Hi! I've been painting roses for months, but they are starting to look like roses just now :) Thank you Jenna!
That's great, Marisa! Love hearing about positive progress! Happy painting!!
Flip-book! That's fun!!
I love your tutorials especially this Rose one. It really was informative re flower growth. Beautiful.
I have painted 43 roses in my lifetime. 😉

Jenna, I've TRIED numerous times. However, I feel like this tutorial gives me the info I needed. Thanks!
I’m happy to hear of your perseverance and that this tutorial has been helpful! Take care!
Jheramie Mendoza her videos are awesome! Glad you’ve treated yourself 🎉 🎈 🎁 💝
Haha, that is SO awesome!!!! Treat yourself!! I hope you enjoy all of those new supplies when you find some time!!! xoxo
You are so much fun. Love watching
Thanks John! I'm very glad you are enjoying these videos!
I’ve probably painted maybe 50 roses. Still working on keeping those white spaces! Thanks for this great video!
Suzanne Merrill 🌹 I also struggle with what’s the right amount of white space for a floral composition. I guess with practice we’ll get there too 😀
Cape Town Watercolour Art you are very right!! 😉 I love to practice! It’s sometimes finding the time!😳
Suzanne Merrill I carry a journal with me. So that I can just practice sketching while I’m standing in a queue etc it’s helped keep my art habit alive
You're very welcome, happy painting Suzanne!
@@watercolourartincapetown2919 That's a great idea!! I heard someone else mention that today! I will start doing that!😉
Hi Jenna, thank you for the wonderful tutorial. Your videos have been much informative for the beginners like me. To be Frank I'm painting my first 🌹rose ever after the video. Ofcourse I need a lots of practice to get it better n better.😊 the free ebook had so much of content from basic technique. Thanks a lot 😍
I hope you enjoyed painting your first rose!! xo
Xo
Thanks for sharing, Lisa, I love hearing how the tutorials help!
What a great teacher! 👏🏻
