    I want to tell you thank you for having these tutorials. Before I found you I was really struggling with watercolor painting. In the short time I've been watching you I've learned so much. I realize you could've charged a lot for these classes, but you didn't. I'm a disabled vet on a very small fixed income. Just trying to make ends meet is a struggle so I wouldn't have been able to pay for classes. Listening and painting along with you has helped me with my PTSD. I can't thank you enough. May God bless and keep you always.

    My paint dries out on the paper so much faster than yours. If I use more water, I get puddles. But my hydrangea actually came out pretty nice. I get hard edges on the petals, but I think it's because I'm using student level paints (Paul Reubens). I am going to upgrade my paints... i looked at your faves W&N, but read some positive reviews about M. Graham, which uses honey(?) in their mix to keep it from drying out as fast. Maybe that will help. Thanks for the free lessons... I am going to donate or buy your merch as a thank you. :-)

    • @JennaRaineyChannel
      @JennaRaineyChannel  4 роки тому

      Hi Laura! If you have a brand new palette, it may just take some breaking in. Or grab a glue stick, smear it on the palette, and take a paper towel and rub it in -- that'll help break in the palette. Since you're new to watercolor, I highly recommend checkint out my Watercolor Basics playlist -- tons of videos that we get you going in the right direction: ua-cam.com/play/PLdb2U9SHuFlLKHCUZIzzSsvd8_z8I9JcR.html

I also do a lot of those deep red ones which I can’t remember the name of right now. I love this! You have inspired me to keep trying even though I have a long way to go. If I may, one question. The hardest part is the pigment to water ratio. I know this is just a practice issue most likely but wondering how much difference it makes using the paper you use compared to Canson XL. Can't really afford the better paper. Can I conquer the technique with the less expensive paper? Thanks for all you do!! ❤

    • @JennaRaineyChannel
      @JennaRaineyChannel  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Vicky! Thanks for sharing. Water control is one of the most tricky aspects to watercolor that I hear from many of my students. I made a video all on water control, if you haven't seen it < ua-cam.com/video/-g6nXlePVZs/v-deo.html > that should help you a ton! As far as paper -- I am a big believer in high quality supplies that you love. If you haven't tried Legion paper, I love it and actually is relatively affordable. But to answer your question: yes, you can achieve decent water control on Canson paper -- it just won't be as good as a higher quality. Here's a link to the paper I use if you're interested: - Legion Stonehenge Aqua Watercolor Block Paper: amzn.to/2GDaYH9

    I painted along with you with lots of pauses and repeats and ended up with a hydrangea that I like. I always learn so much from you! Thanks so much. I would love a tutorial on sweet pea flowers.

    I love love love hydrangeas. Childhood memory of 2 bushes that's covered in HUGE blooms. (in CA btw) Not the newer varieties. Just the original hydrangeas with enormous clusters. Then the Bush itself was a cluster in itself covered top to bottom. (the blue variety) GORGEOUS!! 😍😍 I'd pay good money to have just 1 of those bushes that bloomed prolifically as that one did. It was at a rental house. No one had taken particular care of it.
    Enough already.🤫 🤭 😆🤣
