Great idea,, we have a few times... interestingly Glacier is the beautiful Crown Jewell( maybe Teton NP) & GRAND CANYON a Miracle & WONDER-OF THE -World ( 220 Mike’s of Canyon is a BIG Deal)....Yellowstone is a great Place,......
Visited 2 years ago in May. Less crowded but a little colder. Stayed in Jackson,Wy. 4 1/2 hour drive over Wilson's Pass to the north gate but absolutely worth it.
I went to Yellowstone several years ago on my motorcycle, well we got caught in a traffic jam caused by Buffalo. While we were sitting on out cycles several BIG Buffalo walk by. On my bike my head may have been 4/5 feet high and these Buffalo stood about 6 ft at the shoulder and were maybe about 4 feet away Fortunately they totally ignored us and just walked by. A very interesting moment and quit intimidating!
I've seen bikes there and thought these people must never have heard about the massive and possibly dangerous critters roaming the roads. Dem Buff just do whatever day wantsta; mosey on by or walk right over you. Pretty uncomfortable feeling if they look you in the eye from close range; nearly piss yourself if they snort or start sauntering toward you. Sometimes they'll just stop right next to you and sorta mill around and bump into one another, like they're gettin' AGITATED about something.
When our boys were young we rented a cabin in Yellowstone, and every evening I would read to them from Lee Whittlesey's book, "Death in Yellowstone." It contains many lessons about what happens when somebody does not respect nature in the wild.
@@The_DC_Kid Why would yo say something like that, unles you were so damaged by your upbringing that you view all human relationships through the same distorted lens?
@@The_DC_Kid My purpose in reading Death in Yellowstone to my boys was to teach them to enjoy nature with the proper respect for its ability to kill you if you take it for granted while ignoring its many objective dangers. I apologize for my earlier retort. I was in a surly mood. But both boys grew up to be fearless world travelers, it worked out as I had hoped.
Everyone keeps saying you got to keep a close eye on your kiddos because you don't want them fall off because they aren't paying attention, but it's the adults who are going off the boardwalk more than any other age group. It's obvious to me the kids are paying attention, they see it's hot, and do a better job at staying on the path than adults.
Add on to #15: don’t leave food out.... also don’t leave WATER BOTTLES out. We left water bottles on our picnic tables for 20minutes as we walked around the campgrounds and came back to a pink paper warning note from the rangers. Use the bear boxes. Great content guys! Looking forward to our 2021 trip!
@@WereintheRockies lol I felt so guilty for the rest of the night. I actually had to channel in your voices from an earlier video that said don’t take offense when the rangers tell you what not to do 😂
Thanks, interestingly we by “ accident “ used many of these good ideas our first time in the Park: actually staying in Cody, then moving to a Freed -up availability CABIN NEXT TO Lodge in 1996, etc. For three (?) more days, etc. !
1955~57 ~3 yrs Roberts Montana near Red Lodge. Dad taught high school mom RN at Red Lodge..visited YELLOWSTONE ~3 times..Remember the EQ in '59..Side of a mt slid..buried vacationers..
Horses are deadly also. In the 1800's and before the tractor age circa 1920's, a major cause of death was horse kicks. They will bite worse than any dog but they're sneaky about it. Not all horses are sneaky biters but you won't know it if you don't know the horse. I had one that I never trusted and caught him trying bite me when my back was turned. Around dangerous animals you develop a 6th sense about their mood or aggression.
nice. thanks for the info. i was planning on going end of may early june. i want to see much of yellowstone and hike the tetons. iam thinking 6 or 7 day trip and i would like to see a bit of montana too. i will be staying in idaho.
Thank you for the video and the guide! I was there Jul 6-8 2021 and got to see all but the Lamar Valley area... it was too far/too much of a drive for us (We drove from Island Park, Idaho every day!)
Thank you so much for the information since I am going next week. I wouldn’t waste money on the bear spray but make plenty of noise while in the backwoods. I worked a summer in Glacier and this was good advice from the Rangers. If you are face to face with bear spray you probably weren’t aware of your surroundings. I am guessing the rental is expensive around $50. Enjoy your many videos.
Thank you for the awesome tips. My family and I will be driving through for scenic road trip in transit to Mount Rushmore in late June. We will be entering through the West Gate. Any tips for small stops along the way when you only have a day to drive through the park?
If you can, drive the lower loop and for sure stop at Grand Prismatic Spring and hike the overlook trail (if possible). Also try to see Old Faithful and Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. There is plenty of more to stop and see but these are the highlights.
I wanted to do the 2 loops but I saw on the website that the road going north on Canyon Village is going to be closed. Do you know if it Will still be closed in June?

Hey need some help. Anyone know how to be safe without beer spray? I have asthma and I think it’s one of those things that could really mess me up if it’s the same as pepper spray/mase please comment if there’s a safe alternative for bear spray or other ways to avoid bears .-.
Hey. I don't think there is a safe alternative to bear spray. My honest take is it's still worth it if you are going to be hiking on the back mountain trails where you could surprise a bear or other wild animal. If you plan to stay on the grand loop and look at geysers and water falls, you are most likely ok without it as long as you keep the recommended distances from the animals. Hope that helps.
👍👍 I've been to Yellowstone 22 times !!! One year I was Flyfishing on the lake and some people came down with bathing sutes on I said what you going to do? They said they where going to take a dip!!! ☺️🤣🤣🤣🤣 I said no your not!!! You can guess what happened! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣☺️
I live in Montana and have traveled through the Park many times and I've seen people do many stupid things. At one time you could buy a T-shirt that said Tourist 0 Bison 12 and that was one year. Another T-shirt said Tourist 0 Bears 5
You said don’t visit the visitors centers. I kinda disagree with that one. If it weren’t for the visitor center in Grand Tetons we would never have known about the Mormon Row Barn and that area.
We drove threw Yellowstone, I honestly can't see spending a lot of time there on a vacation, dont get me wrong its breath taking, and very memorable trip. But if you stay for a week your just going to see the same thing for a longer time period. And miss everything around it. The park is so big, off to the distance you see the giant white caped mountains The highway systems forests springs Every place you look is a treat. But you wont see it all in one spot driving threw and around in the whole area is a better trip. Dont be a tool and stop to watch a black bear scratch his back on s tree blocking the road 5 feet away from the bear. If he smells food in your car. People will be watching the bear open your car, and take your picnic baskets. Locked doors won't stop him either. They make bear proof boxes to keep your food in wile your camping, it only slows them down. The bear will take the whole dam thing. A grizzly might eat you first then take your food. Black and brown bears are not as aggressive. And no your 8 lb chawa isn't going to protect you. However it might get stuck in the bears teeth.

While on a construction job in Gillette a worker in his brand new Pontiac was on his way back from Dead wood around dusk plowed into a bison calf and high centered the car on top of the calf the calfs mother tried desperately rammed the car multiple times trying to protect her calf until she dropped dead, the guy in the car had scrambled into the back seat to avoid being crushed as mom continued to ram his car. The car was totaled from the impact then got folded in half by the mothers repeated attempts to free her calf ! Do not try to pet these wild beasts, they will attack if threatened, these critters are big powerful beasts, even deer will attack sometimes, you don't want a 6 point buck trying to stomp you to death, those hooves will cut like a knife as well as raise big bumps faster than you can rub them ! Ignorance is fixable, but there is nothing you can do about stupid.
